Weekly Instagram/Facebook/Twitter/Tumblr Roundup.

Say hello to Hensley (left) and Julie, who we are kitten sitting for another foster mom while she’s out of the country. They’re 8 weeks old, adorable, and after a few hours of hiding from me, they’ve decided they’re lap kittens, especially Hensley.

They’ll be with us for about a week. They’re set up in the bathroom; we won’t be mixing them with the Cardsharks because these guys are being treated for coccidia and we don’t want that to spread to the other kittens.

Former foster alert! Here we have sweet girl Amber (left), (who was our foster Ambercup in 2015) giving her sister Phoenix (who was our foster Phoenix in 2017) a bath. How sweet are those girls? (And how awesome is that view?!) (Thanks, Debra!)

Fizzbin is such a happy little purrbaby.

Pinochle ADORES that track toy. With Whist watching the entire time. I kept waiting and waiting for her to pounce and join in, but she was content to just watch.

(Permanent residents) Newt (left) and Charlie, looking like a boy band. Or detectives. Newt’s the grizzled veteran, Charlie’s the wide-eyed idealist. Together they hunt down those DASTARDLY chipmunks.

Good night innernets. (Fizzbin)

Fizzbin felt this Monday morning required a floof suit, and upped the ante by balancing on the edge of that basket to impress Rummy.

Julie really likes to hang out in this elephant scratcher!

(We are kitten sitting Julie and her sister Hensley while their foster mom is out of the country. They’ll be with us ’til this weekend.)

Canasta LEAPS! Look at the impressive height on those jumps!!

The Toastycat bed continues to be a hit with this bunch of kittens. (Rummy)

Kittens at the milk bar. 9 weeks old, and yes – nursing whenever mama will let them. She’s far too nice, if you ask me!

(Permanent resident) Jake climbed into the catnip pot and sniffed wildly, then sneezed a bunch of times. His face in this picture cracks me UP.

The snoopervisory committee (Slapjack, Uno, Fizzbin and Pinochle) would like to know just what is going on over here.

Good night innernets.

Hensley (left) and Julie wish you a good morning. Now they have to go back to sleep so they can be wide awake all night long and run around on the bed!

Just a reminder that Canasta the queen is available for adoption! Email Forgotten Felines of Huntsville at info (at) ffhsv.org to inquire.

Milk bar on the move! My favorite part is around a minute into the video when she flops down on top of her kittens.

It’s Toesday, so please admire Fizzbin’s multi-colored toes!

All 6 kittens playing, and having a blast. But where’s Canasta? In my lap, of course.

We are ADOPTION PENDING on Canasta! She will go home in a couple of weeks, joining a home with a kitty who will tolerate her bossy ways, and we are thrilled for her!

I know that some of you were hoping she’d be adopted with one of her kittens. That’s a sweet idea and all, but honestly I think she’s ready to move on past being a mama. It’s HER turn to be the baby! She’ll be fine, and so will they, I promise. (And I got a LOT of comments that Canasta and her kittens should stay together forever, and while that’s also a sweet idea, it’s not realistic. I don’t know of anyone who wants to adopt 7 cats at once. If you do, you might have mentioned that before now. 🙃 )

Oh how cute, Rummy is in the bathtub! Let me just take a quick picture… Oh, hi Fizzbin!

It’s still Toesday, and Slapjack didn’t want the day to end without y’all getting a look at these fabulous beans.

(Permanent resident) Charlie wishes you a good night, innernets.

In case you missed it on the blog this morning, I recently decided that I’d try putting a onesie (or, as they call it at TinyKittens, a “weansie” – weaning onesie) on Canasta to see how it goes. With past mamas and kittens, I’ve let the mamas set the pace as far as weaning the kittens. And with one bright and shining exception (hi there, Neko (formerly Katriane), they’ve let their kittens nurse right up until they were separated. Which meant that often the mothers went to Petsmart or their new homes with milk still coming in and it’s been a pretty sudden cutoff for the kittens. (As I recall, Albert and Willie nursed right up until about 10 seconds before we put them in the carrier to go home, and they’re not the only ones.)

So I bought a couple of these onesies from Amazon (search on “cat recovery suit,” there are a ton of options.) and on Sunday morning Fred gave me a hand putting it on Canasta. It’s been 3 full days now, and I have to say that so far, it’s working out well. Canasta doesn’t LOVE it and the kittens are a bit confused, but the suit doesn’t stop her from jumping, playing, sleeping or eating. Also, for about an hour in the morning and another hour in the evening, I take her into another room and take the suit off of her so she can clean herself to her heart’s content.

(Side note: no, I will not be taking a picture of her back end so you can see what it looks like, but I promise you that she has used the litter box plenty and has gotten nothing gross on the suit, which was my main concern.)

It takes about 2 weeks for milk to dry up (so I’ve heard), so we’ll see how it goes.

Former foster alert! Hook (who was our foster Puff – Khaleesi’s kitten – back in 2013, and who just turned 8 (!!!) on May 1st) and his (human) brother Jordan. This picture is THE CUTEST! (Thanks, Selena!)

Welcome to tussle town! Slapjack’s already continued on to sleepyville, apparently.

I’m catching a little of the ol’ teenage attitude from Uno.

Rummy’s playing with her food! I gave them some freeze-dried shrimp treats, and Rummy decided they were toys rather than food. Look at her, she’s having a blast!

Last summer I did my very best to get catnip growing in this little bed. There are a couple of small clumps that hung in there through the winter, and (permanent resident) Jake can often be found partaking. (The Fabulous Khal is back there thinking judgmental thoughts.)

That onesie is certainly not the most flattering outfit for a kitty, but it does the job. Here she is, letting Fred hold her like a baby, and she was kneading and purring like crazy

Good night innernets. (Slapjack)

NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS. Left to right: Rummy (f), Fizzbin (f), Pinochle (m), Slapjack (m), Uno (f) and Whist (f). Email Forgotten Felines of Huntsville at info (at) ffhsv.org to inquire.

NOW TAKING APPLICATIONS for Fizzbin – email Forgotten Felines of Huntsville at info (at) ffhsv.org to inquire. All kittens must be joining homes with a playful kitty already in residence OR adopted with a sibling. We are located in Huntsville, Alabama and the adopter MUST come here to complete the adoption. NOTE: Fizzbin is not spayed yet, but will be in the next few weeks, and will be able to go home after that.

Fizzbin is a super snuggly confident girl who will run over to see what’s going on – she reacts to new situations by floofing up her fur, and she’ll keep it floofed up even after she’s determined that there’s no reason to be worried. She is very much a lap kitten who wants to be IN your lap and if you need to move her and go do something, she will let you know with the very saddest meow that you’re breaking her heart (but she bounces back quickly.) She loves to be held on her back like a baby, and doesn’t mind being kissed at all. She was the first of her litter to purr for someone other than her own mother, and she has an instant-on purr that she doesn’t mind sharing. She’s a super playful girl, and loves to toss rattly mice into the air and try to catch them, will leap up after feather teasers, and is intrigued by the track ball toy. She gets along well with other kittens (though she deploys the aforementioned floof suit when meeting strange cats), and must join a home with at least one other playful kitty in residence. If you’re looking for a pair, she gets along great with all of her siblings.

NOW TAKING APPLICATIONS for Rummy – email Forgotten Felines of Huntsville at info (at) ffhsv.org to inquire. All kittens must be joining homes with a playful kitty already in residence OR adopted with a sibling. We are located in Huntsville, Alabama and the adopter MUST come here to complete the adoption. Rummy is not spayed yet, but will be in the next few weeks, and will be able to go home after that.

Rummy might be the nosiest kitten of her litter, and that’s saying something. Bring a new toy into the room? Rummy’s checking it out. Bring a new cat into the room? Rummy thinks they could probably be friends. Bring a carrier into the room? Rummy jumps in it to check it out (and then stay in there and play.) On a scale of 1-10 her curiosity rates about a 15+, and she doesn’t miss much. She’s a silly goofball and will often find a toy to be her “prey” and then bounces around it in all directions. She loves to hop sideways at her siblings, and can often be found picking a (play) fight with her mother. She is very certain that she’s going to catch her tail one of these days, and devotes a lot of time to chasing it. Her current favorite toys are ping pong balls, feather teasers, and any toys that have feathers attached. She gets along great with cats and kittens and go to a home with another playful kitty in residence. If you’re looking for a pair, she gets along great with all of her siblings.

NOW TAKING APPLICATIONS for Whist – email Forgotten Felines of Huntsville at info (at) ffhsv.org to inquire. All kittens must be joining homes with a playful kitty already in residence OR adopted with a sibling. We are located in Huntsville, Alabama and the adopter MUST come here to complete the adoption. Whist is not spayed yet, but will be in the next few weeks, and will be able to go home after that.

Whist will run over when you walk into the room, bounce away when something catches her attention, and then bounce back to check you out and decide if she wants to be your friend (spoiler: she always wants to be your friend.) She loves to be in the middle of a crowd, and is always keeping an eye on her siblings to see what they’re playing with just in case she’s missing out on something. She’s a very playful girl who loves to climb into a basket and chase her toy or chase one of her siblings’ tails, but her very favorite toys are felted balls and rattly mice – though to be honest, she’ll play with just about anything. She gets along great with other cats and kittens, and loves to be in the middle of a pile of tussling kittens. She must go to a home with at least one other playful kitty in residence, or if you’re looking for a pair, she gets along great with all of her siblings.

NOW TAKING APPLICATIONS for Pinochle – email Forgotten Felines of Huntsville at info (at) ffhsv.org to inquire. All kittens must be joining homes with a playful kitty already in residence OR adopted with a sibling. We are located in Huntsville, Alabama and the adopter MUST come here to complete the adoption. Pinochle is not neutered yet, but will be in the next few weeks, and will be able to go home after that.

Pinochle is shy and hesitant at first – he tends to hang back and watch in a new situation and figure out what’s going on before he warms up and reveals his snugglebug nature. He’s the silent observer of his litter and is happy to let his siblings take the lead and prove that all is well before he joins in. After some time to warm up, he will very often climb into your lap for a snuggle and to keep an eye on the goings-on around him. He loves to play with his siblings, but can easily entertain himself as well if no one feels like playing. He adores toys that have feathers attached, felted balls, rattly mice, but his top favorite toy is the track ball toy. He can play with that toy for a long, long time. He gets along great with other cats and kittens, and must go to a home with at least one other kitty to play with. If you’re looking for a pair, he gets along great with all his siblings.

NOW TAKING APPLICATIONS for Slapjack – email Forgotten Felines of Huntsville at info (at) ffhsv.org to inquire. All kittens must be joining homes with a playful kitty already in residence OR adopted with a sibling. We are located in Huntsville, Alabama and the adopter MUST come here to complete the adoption. Slapjack is not neutered yet, but will be in the next few weeks, and will be able to go home after that.

Slapjack is a very confident, very snuggly boy who has a future as a manicurist and hairdresser – he loves to lick your hands and snuffle around in your hair (though he doesn’t take it personally if you make him stop.) He will follow you around to see what you’re doing and will climb in your lap for a snuggle the minute you sit down. If you’re lying down, he loves to curl up near your head and go to sleep. He is a very playful, rambunctious kitten who will tussle with any of his siblings, loves racing around at top speed, and if you toss him a ping pong ball, he turns into an excellent soccer player. He gets along great with other cats and kittens, always immediately wants to be friends with any kitties he sees – and must go to a home with at least one other playful kitty in residence. If you’re looking for a pair of kittens, he gets along great with all his siblings.

NOW TAKING APPLICATIONS for Uno – email Forgotten Felines of Huntsville at info (at) ffhsv.org to inquire. All kittens must be joining homes with a playful kitty already in residence OR adopted with a sibling. We are located in Huntsville, Alabama and the adopter MUST come here to complete the adoption. Uno is not spayed yet, but will be in the next few weeks, and will be able to go home after that.

Uno can be a little bit shy at first – loud noises startle her and send her running – but her innate nosiness always gets the best of her, and she’s got to see what’s going on, so out she comes. Once she’s comfortable with you, she’s happy to curl up in your lap and doesn’t mind being held on her back like a baby. She’ll tolerate being kissed, though we don’t know that she actually likes it. She is a VERY playful girl, enjoys chasing any toys you toss for her, and if there’s a ping pong ball bouncing around, she’ll be happy to run it down and then play soccer with it; she’s an excellent soccer player. She gets along well with other cats and kittens and must go to a home with at least one other playful kitty in residence – or if you’re looking for a pair of kittens, she gets along great with all her siblings.

Canasta and the kittens (but especially Canasta) have an awfully good time racing up and down the hallway when the door to the rest of the upstairs is open.

Some attitude from (permanent resident) Alice, who would like to know just WHY the water in this bowl is dirty.

Slapjack – and banana for scale!

“You comin’ to bed or what, lady?” Julie (front) and Hensley, the kittens we are kitten sitting while their foster mom is out of the country, have been sleeping with me at night. It’s very sweet, except for the 3 am zoomies across my face.

(Good night innernets.)

It’s not Thlurrrpsday, but ask Pinochle if he cares. (He doesn’t. He’ll thlurrrp when he wants to, thank you.)

Whist said “NOPE. Not getting in that glass, nope nope nope.”

Seriously, this girl is just the biggest baby. (I, too, hold her like a baby and she purrs like crazy.)

Fizzbin being Fizzbin. ❤️

“YOWZA!” (Slapjack)

The same scene from two angles – Slapjack picked up that stuffed cat, which is nearly as big as he is, and carried across the room, which just cracked me UP.

(Permanent resident) Archie just can’t with you right now.

“Is it bed time yet, lady?” Hensley (left) and Julie (who we are kitten sitting while their foster mom is out of the country) are excellent little snugglebugs.

(Good night innernets.)

Hensley wonders if it’s breakfast time yet (it is!)

Slapjack is impatiently waiting for the auction to start! The Forgotten Felines of Huntsville online auction is NOW LIVE. We’ve got some AWESOME stuff up already, and even MORE stuff added through the week! Don’t miss it!

“Yes, children, that’s her. That’s the weird lady. She’s the one who put this onesie on me so you can’t nurse anymore. It’s ALL HER FAULT.”

“What? Just bunny-kicking this here peanut butter and jelly toy. You gots a problem with that?” Not at all, Fizzbin. As you were.

(Permanent residents) Newt (left) and Khal survey their domain.

Slapjack’s all “Keepin’ an eye on you, lady.”

“Hey! Innernets! Go to bed!” (Rummy is so bossy.)
