Calliope showed up stray at a local area feral colony, and was so friendly that “trapping” her was just a matter of picking her up and putting her in a carrier. She joined another foster for a few days, and then came to us on May 6, 2026.
DOB: 4/27/2023
She was believed to be pregnant, and a visit to the vet confirmed that. As of the time of this writing (May 31st), she’s due pretty much any time. For now, she’s joined the Dumpling Gang in the foster room and is being very sweet with them.
On June 13th & 14th, Calliope’s kittens were born! They are…
Daphne. Girl. Black and white tuxie.
Cassandra. Girl. Calico.
Pandora. Girl. Calico.
Zephyr. Boy. Orange and white tabby.
Zeus. Boy. Black and white tuxie.
Also born was Apollo, an orange and white tabby, who unfortunately passed away at just a few hours old. (I don’t have any good pictures of him, but he looked like a much smaller version of Zephyr.)
You can read Calliope’s birth story here.
You can read about Calliope beginning here and her kittens beginning here. There are links at the top and bottom of each entry; click on the one on the right to take you to the newer entry.
Cassandra was adopted on September 19, 2026 – she joins a family that includes some kids to play with, a young kitty who needs a friend, and a dog. Her name will likely remain Cassandra!
Zephyr & Zeus were adopted on September 19, 2026 (well, that’s when the paperwork was signed!) – they’ve become permanent residents! Zeus is now Smitty and Zephyr is now Pete!
Pandora was adopted on September 21, 2026 – she joins a family with another young calico named RC. She will likely be renamed!
Calliope and Daphne were adopted on October 3, 2026 and went home to Tennessee (outside Nashville)! Calliope kept her name, and Daphne is now Olympia. Callie and Ollie! And you can follow them on Facebook right here.
The weight chart for the kittens is located here.
You can see all the pictures taken of her here at Flickr, or scroll through them below.
