Please say hello…

To our newest foster, Calliope! She’s a gorgeous dilute calico with big gorgeous green eyes.

This is what happened when I walked into the foster room with her and opened the carrier. The kittens swarmed.

They certainly didn’t seem to notice that she was a stranger. (And she IS a stranger – they’d never seen her before. She is NOT their mother, though she certainly looks as though she could be.)
She’s about three years old and extremely sweet. She showed up at a feral colony in Huntsville and needed saving, so she came to Forgotten Felines. I told Michelle that if she could go into the foster room and get along with the kittens, I’d take her. Turns out? She gets along with the kittens just fine.
I mean, she gets annoyed with them occasionally, but I certainly can’t blame her. They can be a LOT.

She claimed the window bed as hers.

She wanted to know what the kittens were all excited about. (She does like Churu, but the mayhem of Churu time on the desk with 6 nearly-grown kittens is more than she likes to be involved with. Especially since she’s learned I’ll come find her and make sure she gets her share of Churu.)

Memorizing the names of her new roommates.

She gets her food up on the counter away from the kittens because otherwise they’d just shove her out of the way and eat her food.
The funny thing is that she looks like she COULD be their mother, and she is sweet with them – will often lick them if they get up in her face. I tell them all the time that she’s much nicer to them than they deserve, given all the shenanigans they get up to.
And yes. Yes she is pregnant, confirmed by a vet. I keep suggesting to her that she wait to have her kittens until these guys have been adopted out, but I’m not sure that’s going to happen. (If I see that she’s getting close to having kittens, I can move her out into the bathroom; she puts up with the Dumpling Gang really well, but I suspect that birthing kittens in the chaos of that room would not be good for her nerves… or mine!)

One kitten (Tortellini) ON the desk, one kitten (Wonton) NEXT to the desk.

Four kittens (Wonton, Tortellini, Momos & Pierogi) ON the desk, and one kitten (Bao) NEXT to the desk.

Five kittens (Wonton, Bao, Tortellini, Momos & Pierogi) on the desk!

Six kittens on the desk (Khinkali, Wonton, Bao, Tortellini, Momos & Pierogi)! My job is done here.

When we first made Magoo’s adoption official, Fred complained “He doesn’t like me as much as he likes you! He likes you way more!” and I would say “Just give it time. He doesn’t know you as well as he knows me.”
Then the other day I walked downstairs to see Fred sitting on the couch reading…

And Magoo curled up on his arm.
I think Magoo likes Fred just fine now.

Khinkali and Momos are wondering just WHAT you think you’re doing.

Throw Back Thursday: from 2023, bottle babies doin’ what they do. In this order: Rufous, Rufous, Wren, Starling, Rufous & Plover (Rufous is in there more than once mostly because I was so thrilled that he was finally taking the bottle – I had to tube feed him for a little while.)

Throw Back Thursday: the Cardsharks, five years ago! It is #Thlurrrpsday, after all. (From left: Rummy, Uno, Whist, Pinochle, Fizzbin & Slapjack)

A short video of Bao in the danglebasket, chasing his tail.

Tortellini went fishin’, caught this fish, and now she’s gonna eat it. Doesn’t look like she plans on sharing, either, so keep your paws to yourself.

“Memorizing the names of her new roommates” is going to be one of my favorite pictures! A perfect caption and so cute!
We like Fred too.
Hello and welcome, Calliope! She is gorgeous. I’m very impressed by her tolerance for six boisterous kittens!
The photo of Magoo on Fred’s arm is so sweet. I think these two boys are definitely buddies now.
Awww she’s lovely! And I love that the kittens were just like “yes you belong here too excellent” with no doubts lol.
What delightful news for us this morning – a beautiful expectant mamma puss – is it my imagination, or are a disproportionate number of rescue mammas torties and calicoes?! And how lovely that she and the Dumplings are getting on so well together – she obviously has a lovely nature, and I imagine, given her age, may well have had kittens of her own before. So much to look forward to in the weeks ahead!
And how delightful, too, to see sweet Magoo curled up on his Daddy’s arm. May he bring you both many, many years of joy and blessing. xx
Awwwww…… Magoo curled up in Fred’s arms is the sweetest image of the week……
And welcome to Calliope, she’s gorgeous and will be a great mother, giving her tolerance with those kittens and their shenanigans!
I can’t adopt any Dumplings right now bc my life situation is in flux. But can I offer to cover the adoption fees for two of them?
I think so! Email Forgotten Felines at INFO@FFHSV.ORG , I’m sure they’ll allow it.
Thank you! And for all you do!
The six pack on the table is adorable! Is Bao the biggest of the six?
He looks bigger in the picture
Aww, Caliope is beautiful! How do you pronounce her name? Is it Caliope, rhymes with hope or is it Caliopee?
You are so wonderfully blessed and fortunate in so many ways but the one that has been standing out to me the most lately is that you have a husband who is so supportive and so involved in your fostering. All the fosters and permanent residents are also VERY blessed and fortunate to have both of you. Bless you both for all you have done through the years and are still doing for “God’s Innocent.”
We just adopted a Calliope! She was an orphan bottle baby that was born under my mom’s greenhouse. She still younger than all The Dumplings and absolutely charming.
1-2-4-5… and 6!!! Love the multiplying kittens upon the Churu desk series!
As for Magoo curled up with Fred — awww. That’s one happy little monkey.
Hello to sweet Calliope!
LUV Magoo curled up on Fred’s arm!!! He looks content.
LOL, the kittens SWARMED Calliope when you opened the carrier, and ta-da!! just like that they met each other and no drama.
Good Calliope has her own food area, she needs as much as the Dumplings, she’s eating for 4? 5? 6?, we shall know how many in a few weeks. It will be such a SURPRISE!! to see what her babies look like when they make their entrance.
The Dumplings are so confident now!! They will do well when they go to their furever homes.
So nice to have such happy energy back in your lives / house, goes a long way to ease your heart.❤️
Two of the Dumplings now have paid for adoption fees! Please, if any readers can adopt then pleaseeee do. I wish I could, but it wouldn’t be fair to them with my current life situation
That’s so wonderful of you. I can’t adopt any either. I have 2 in a 2 bedroom apartment, but they will make someone very happy. God bless you
Thank you Risha!! Now you are a Dumpling godparent! ❤️
Calliope is beautiful. I’m glad she and the kittens get along.
You have a great start to a Dr. Seuss like verse with the kittehs on the desk. 😀
