Why don’t you put the Nest camera in the foster room to spy on Natalie? Is the video saved or only in real time?

As you can see, I don’t own any kind of watching device and don’t know how they work.

‘Til yesterday, I hadn’t gotten around to putting the Nest cameras up (though I did have one in the crate). They’re now up, so you can rest assured I’ll be spying on her all the time! (The Nest cameras record and keep, I think, 30 days’ worth of recordings.)

Is it the light or does Khal look blond today?

It’s a little of each – his chest and belly have a lot of gray, and also kind of reddish, and the light outside makes it look even lighter than it is in person.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I can’t help but wonder what Fred’s nickname for Natalie is…
He just calls her “Mama”; it might change in the future, but probably won’t.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

You’ve probably said it every time we are waiting for kittens, but what is the LONGEST time you had to wait?

Canasta made us wait 47 days; that’s the longest we’ve had to wait, though Margeaux was close at 43 days.

There’s a page with all our mamas here, and if you just want the numbers, there’s a spreadsheet here (shortest amount of time we’ve waited: 30 hours with Kara.)

Happy Thlurrrpsday!

Natalie checks out the mirror situation.

“THAT room looks way cooler than this one!”

Rocco’s on the outside looking in. (‘Til Fred comes along and sees him there, and lets him in to meander from one end of the house to the other and out the garage door.)

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.

Rabbit rabbit rabbit. 🐰 (Natalie) From Wikipedia: “Rabbit rabbit rabbit” is a superstition found in Britain and North America wherein a person says or repeats the words “rabbit”, “rabbits” and/or “white rabbits” aloud upon waking on the first day of a month, to ensure good luck for the rest of it.

Throw Back Thursday: After posting the picture of Natalie in the chef hat yesterday, I started wondering how many fosters/permanent residents have worn it. Here are a few of them:

Stefan. (Chefan, if you will) in 2013.

Susie (from the Fakers) in 2016.

Barnaby Mouse (from Barnaby, Bubble and Squeek) in 2016.

Hush Puppy (from the Vittles) in 2020.

Newt in 2016.

Back in 2016 (!), we fostered a litter of kittens named after evergreens. One of those was Juniper, who is now Branwen – and this is her now!

Tamra says: Branwen is doing well. Without Drum’s commandeering of laps, she has become very much a lap kitty. She enjoys her windows. Whether to observe the goings on in the backyard, or checking up on the neighbors, or lounging and taking a snooze.

(Thank you, Tamra!)

Throw Back Thursday: From 2020, the Vittles kittens star in: “You are standing near the food, so even though we JUST ate our canned food, we are clearly dying of starvation.”

Natalie’s got your heart. ❤️

Throw Back Thursday: from 2020, Robyn learns a valuable lesson: pee BEFORE you lie down on the couch with a million kittens, or you’ll regret it. (The Vittles litter; I count 10 kittens on me, plus one more jumping up beside me.)

Good night innernets. (Natalie)

2019: Francois is all “My sister makes a comfy bed” and Madeline’s all “He’s heavy AND he’s my brother.”
2018: Eliot is like “O Lord, why is this lady and her camera always following me around?”
2017: “I BITE YOU, RIPPLE RUG!”

    I went to look at the page with all the mommas and, wow, you’ve been doing this for 16 years! How wonderful is that?!

      I’ve actually been fostering for 19 years! (But only pregnant cats for 16 of those.)

    Hello Robyn, what has happened to Trixie?

      In the spring – around April – she decided she didn’t love us anymore, I guess, and moved on. We still see her in the distance occasionally – she’s still somewhere in the neighborhood – but she’s apparently found a home that appeals to her more. It’s entirely possible she’s returned to the home she originally came from… or maybe her plan is to eventually live in every house in the neighborhood!

    Looking at last year’s post of the treklings. Riker was my favorite. I was so sad when he passed. Spock was my next favorite.

      I know, I still can’t believe how quickly he went from perfectly fine to passing away. He was such a sweetheart.
