Calendars WILL BE available starting tomorrow, cross my heart! I just have a few last choices to make and need to get them uploaded to Zazzle, so they’ll be ready for purchase tomorrow.
I took 4,700+ pictures this last year. That’s a lotta pictures and some hard, hard choices, believe you me.

On Friday…

Smitty made it out into the back yard.

Pete, on the back porch, said “How’d he DO that?”

Pete figured out how to get into the yard eventually.

All five permanent residents in one picture!

And again. The concrete was warm, and thus everyone wanted to roll around on it.

Smitty and Magoo, little posers.
So, they’re very interested in the back yard, but don’t spend a huge amount of time out there. They’ve been going out for an hour or so in the morning and then another hour or so in the late afternoon. They don’t quite have the routine down yet – Fred goes out at dusk and says “Come on, guys,” and Khal, Charlie and Magoo know it’s time to come inside. He’s had to pick Smitty and Pete up and carry them inside – I suspect it won’t be long before they’ve got it figured out.
(No Rocco pic – I had a busy weekend and he was off doing important Rocco things.)

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr/ Bluesky/Threads) this weekend.

On the back porch, Smitty went over to give Charlie the ol’ snifferoo, and Charlie said “BOOP!”

⏪THE DAILY REWIND⏪ It’s been two years since we said goodbye to Newt (who was nearly 19, so he had a good long (though not long enough) life), and that boy LOVED a good box.

Another dryer ball becomes a cat toy, and Smitty says “You ain’t takin’ this away from me!”

Smitty and Pete were playing under Khal’s watchful eye, and I realized that all five permanent residents were in the same room. So now they’re in the same video!

Pete sniff-sniff-SNIFFed my socks, and apparently they smelled…like feet. Go figure!

Someone asked the other day if Khal likes to be picked up, and I said that he didn’t. I don’t know what kind of senior moment I was having, because it is SO not true. The first picture is from 2017, the very first time I petted Khal without Fred sitting between us as a buffer. The second is from two days ago, when I picked him up, flipped him onto his back and rubbed his belly, and he just stayed there and purred and let it happen. Fred and I can do pretty much anything to him – pick him up, carry him around, throw him over our shoulders – but no one else can.

⏪THE DAILY REWIND ⏪ This picture of Wild Bill Hickok (white and orange) and Funnel Cake makes me laugh and laugh. (They were from 2020, the “Vittles” litter.)

Smitty’s pretty, pretty eyes. (I love the green around his pupil.)

Magoo and his minions, Smitty and Pete. (Also, my very loud washer in the background. It was laundry day!)

Smitty and Pete show off their floofy tails.

“Is it Churu time yet?” Pete and Smitty wondered as they watched me eat breakfast.

⏪THE DAILY REWIND⏪ French Fry from 2020. I’m sharing this as much for the caption (which makes me laugh) as the picture:
“Miss French Fryyy,” I said in my best Forrest Gump drawl, “You ain’t got no TAIL!” (She was born that way. She’s a rare tailless Housepanther, bred to go ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM.)

Pete and Smitty – who figured out the cat door onto the back porch a few days ago – have figured out the cat door to the back yard. They were very interested in scampering about, as you can see.
Note: we have a cat fence around our back yard (search on “Purrfect Fence.”) Permanent residents are allowed out in the back yard from sun up to dusk.

Pete and Smitty are really one of the gang now! The back yard is a whole new world for them! I was wondering if you have to give all your permanent residents flea & tick treatments since they go out in the grass? Maybe those pests are not a problem where you are? If you do treat them, what do you use? Thanks as always for all the wonderful work that you & Fred do!
