In case you missed it elsewhere: EVERYONE BUT PANDORA IS ADOPTION PENDING. Calliope and Daphne (together) will be going home in early October. Zephyr and Zeus (together) will be going locally after their neuter. Cassandra will be going locally after her spay. Which leaves Pandora: available! I’ll let you know if/when that changes.
They are going for their spay/neuters next Wednesday, the 16th. AND the Luli & Cat Brunch Bunch is coming to stay, arriving tomorrow and staying through next week! It’ll be a little bit chaotic, but I think we need a little chaos around here from time to time. (Chaos is good for the kittens. Stretches their boundaries and makes ’em a bit more adaptable to new things.)

Zephyr just GLOWS in the sunshine.

Pandora and the Precious Moments eyes.

Zephyr and Zeus on the tall cat tree downstairs, havin’ a snuggle-n-snooze.

Last weekend, I decided it was time to get serious about getting Calliope’s milk dried up (because apparently she was NOT going to make that happen herself), so I put the nighty/weansie on her for real. Except for a 2 – 3 hour break in the morning and a shorter one in the evening, she wears it. It’s certainly not her favorite thing in the world, but she’s tolerating it. We’re a week in (tomorrow) and I think we’re going to need the full second week to get her all dried up.

There’s a lot of tussling in the sunshine going on here.

Cassandra says “I do not wish to tussle in the sunshine, lady.”

Pandora’s giving me the “I can’t believe you took away the milk bar” face.

Zephyr and Cassandra atop the tall cat tree in the living room, and Magoo there all “I’ll be right here if anyone decides they want to play!”

I keep forgetting to post this update – except for Pandora, everyone is now adoption pending! Calliope & Daphne together (going home in October to Tennessee), Zephyr & Zeus together (going locally), and Cassandra (also going locally). There have been a few applications for Pandora – one in just the last few days – so I’ll let y’all know when there’s any news on her.

When we were talking about eye color last week, it made me think of Kennebec, who we fostered in 2012 and again in 2013. His eyes changed color dramatically between the time I had him as a foster and when he was returned (due to a divorce, I think) about six months later.
You can see the bronze color starting to come in around his pupils, but his eyes were mostly this amazing blue-green color at 12 weeks old. Six months later, when he was returned, they’d completely changed.
(He was such a big lovable boy that I nicknamed him Lunk. He was adopted again about a month later.)

Zephyr was hanging out in front of my monitor, so of course I had to play the Tater-chasing-dust video (from 2023) for him!

Zephyr’s Rumdangle – with the two levels of dangle length, one shortdangle, one longdangle – is sheer perfection.

Throw Back Thursday: from 2023, the Tater-chasing-dust video Zephyr was watching!

Throw Back Thursday: Molly Marinara and Theo Pesto from 2021. Molly’s face immediately reminded me of that picture of Ben Affleck in the midst of an existential crisis. Striking resemblance, no? (Picture of Ben Affleck ©AKIF/Vantagenews / AKM-GSI)

Good night innernets. (Calliope & Pandora)
