As well as reading the day’s blog, I also always choose a post from a previous year too. Today’s choice was your 2016 post as I was curious to see what you didn’t recommend, but unfortunately the link no longer works. Can you remember what you so disliked, by any chance?

It wasn’t this exact item, but it was very similar to it (I suspect they no longer sell the one I linked to!) If you don’t want to click on that link, it’s a silicone “tongue” where you stick one end in your mouth and use the “tongue” end to groom your cat. It is the stupidest thing ever, and I still hate it. I don’t believe ANY cat would put up with being “groomed” with it (not that I’d even try in a million years.)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nigel’s got his bunnykickers ready to go.
Margarita hanging out on the back of the couch. (Her silvery coat is just so PRETTY. Especially that tail!)
Just a Hazel, sittin’ in a box, holdin’ her foot in the air.
Matilda shows off her belly, which is NOT a trap (unless it is. Never know what you’re gonna get!)
“Tryin’ to sleep here, lady,” says Benji.
“There room in your lap for me?” asks Hazel. (Of course there is!)
These kittens have the MOST reactive tails. They’ll floof ’em at the slightest provocation!
Sebastian spent ALL day in the foster room Wednesday and Thursday, and he did great. He’s still spending overnights downstairs in his playpen, at least for a little while longer.
I check on him regularly (check on all of them, really), and he’s always happy to climb into my lap. But – most importantly – he is interacting with the other kittens. He doesn’t hesitate to go over to any of them and start biting them. They pretty much roll their eyes at him and will gently tussle with him (yes, I need to take pictures/video, but I’m so busy keeping a close eye on them that I don’t think of it ’til it’s over).
Nigel says “HEY. There’s only room for one BAYbee here, and I’m it, kid!”
When Sebastian gets tired/overwhelmed, he goes to the crate and takes a nap.
He discovered the crate Tuesday (I think), so I put a warming pad in there, his favorite type of blanket, and the Snuggle Puppy. I haven’t seen any other kittens in there with him, but it’s possible they’ve been checking it out too, I just haven’t seen them do it yet.
As far as eating solid food – well, Sebastian is not all that interested in it yet, though from time to time he’ll take a bite or two. He’s still mostly about his bottle, which is fine – weaning is generally not a all-at-once process. He’ll figure it out eventually! (And really, he’s on the young side for weaning yet. With some exceptions, I find that most kittens don’t really start showing interest until they’re 5-6 weeks old.)
Want some Crooked Acre pictures/videos? Sure you do! (Possibly no one but me is interested in these, but maybe someone is!)
I guess the birds like watching Human TV as much as I like watching Bird TV out my office window.
Mid flight.
And he sticks the landing!
The catnip is SO happy (which makes the pollinators happy!)
I’ve got a Nest camera pointed at the bird bath & water bowls in our side yard. One day the bird bath was knocked over, and I had to check to see why. THANKS, raccoons.
YouTube link
I love how much bird action our bird bath and water bowls get. I also love it when birds take baths in the water bowls. They’re just so HAPPY.
YouTube link
The Nest camera over the garage caught this confrontation between two possums. I see a LOT of possums crossing through our property, but this is the first time I’ve seen one so irritated at another. If I had to guess, ol’ bighead there on the right is a male and the littler one is a female and she is SICK AND TIRED of carrying 73 babies around in her pouch and also having to do the dishes and pick up his laundry. I bet right before she went after him, he said “Calm down” and she had REACHED HER LIMIT.
YouTube link
What comes across the property, you might wonder. A skunk, a rabbit, and armadillo and another armadillo! (Fun fact: for the first two decades of our relationship, every time we saw a dead armadillo by the side of the road, Fred would say “Huh. I didn’t think they came this far north!” Just stunned and baffled every single time. Guess what? THEY COME THIS FAR NORTH. He’s finally accepted it.)
Last week we had bad weather come through our area (we are in Athens, Alabama.) We don’t get hail all that often, so naturally I had to catch it on video. (About 10 minutes later we lost power and it stayed off for 24 hours, but we had no property damage, so I refuse to complain. (Much.))
Nigel has OPINIONS.
Happy Thlurrrpsday from Sebastian who – let’s be honest – can use some work on his thlurrrping form. But that’s okay, he’s still little. He’ll figure it out!
Throw Back Thursday: from exactly two years ago, bottle babies Starling and Plover (aka Tater) go walkabout.
Margarita and the Ears of Annoyance.
Throw Back Thursday: from 2021, when we were fostering the Cardsharks. There were a LOT of BAYbees! (I think the consensus was that EVERYONE was da baybee, though Pinochle and Fizzbin seem most vocal about it.)
Happy #Thlurrrpsday from Hazel!
Good night innernets. (Matilda)
    The Kara and Elwood story from 2012 gives me a chuckle everytime. Also great to revisit the kittens I started out with (Noms).
    Of this current litter, I suspect that Hazel will be the first one snatched up to a new home. She is SO photogenic.
    Dang, that’s tornado weather, lady! Was it just big wind or did you actually have one in the vicinity?
