Smitty’s brain is melllting in the sun.

Pete takes a break from getting his butt kicked by Calliope to put on his Ears of Annoyance.

Daphne’s all “Watchin’ you, lady.”

Pete’s making himself at home.
The nighty/weansie came off Friday evening, Calliope spent one last night in the dining room, and as of Saturday morning she’s been upstairs all the time, with no nighty on. Her milk is definitely all dried up, and while I haven’t actually seen the kittens comfort nursing, I suspect it’s happening here and there. Saturday night she had the free roam of the entire upstairs – as did her kittens – and while I worried that she might keep me awake with her chit-chatty ways, she didn’t at all. She was totally quiet. In fact, what woke me up at 3:30 yesterday morning was the power going off. (I’m so used to sleeping with the white noise of a fan that the silence woke me up. Well, that and the fact that I didn’t have a fan blowing on me and keeping me cool.)
(A completely clear night with no weather issues around us, obviously we’re going to lose power for 2 1/2 hours, AM I RIGHT?)
I got up to get a flashlight and to grab my phone, and she DID try to lead me into the foster room for breakfast, but you can’t blame a girl for trying.
Calliope and Daphne are going home this weekend, so we’re down to our last several days with them!

I don’t think I’m ever going to be able to move this box, the kittens like it too much. (Pete/Zephyr)

Daphne’s one whisker sticking straight up is the cutest. She’s trying to contact the mother ship. Beep boop!

Smitty (formerly Zeus) has taken OVER that box of paper. Why do I suspect that when all is said and done, I’m going to have five boxes of paper, one for each permanent resident, and they’ll all want the same one? Also, the “hide and seek” toy is a big hit with these kittens (and Magoo!)

Sometimes I try to sneak a Churu to Calliope so she can have an entire one to herself, but Pete/Zephyr and Smitty/Zeus can always sense that there’s an open Churu somewhere the instant I open it, and they come along with their Helpin’ Paws.

Pandora was adopted and went home yesterday locally (I delivered her myself!) She joins a family with a 1 1/2 year old calico named RC. (By yesterday evening, mere hours after she went home, Pandora was snuggling and purring with her new mom. I’m not surprised – that girl is a lovebug!) Here’s her video of her from the day she was born, to the day she went home. (SUCH a photogenic girl!)

Calliope and the ol’ razzle dazzle. (Yes, she’s still wearing her nighty/weansie. Her milk wasn’t quite dried up at 2 weeks, so I decided to give it another week. She only wears it for a few hours during the day or when I can’t keep an eye on the kittens to be sure they aren’t nursing. I guarantee the minute that nighty is off for good they’ll be comfort nursing, but as long as she allows it and her poor body isn’t trying desperately to produce milk to feed them, that’s between her and them.)

Good night innernets. (Pete/Zephyr & Smitty/Zeus)

All-purpose Pete & Smitty! (One day that box on the left is going to be just a scrap of cardboard. I’m not sure why that one is tastier than the one on the right!)

I meant to share this pic yesterday and forgot – here’s Pandora her first night at home, already snuggled up and purring. ❤️ (Thanks, Jayla!)

Daphne was really the only one interested in playing hard, but I got some attention from the boys and mama Calliope.

Yesterday was Calliope’s last day in her nighty/onesie and Pete said “I’m gonna be first in line when the milk bar opens again! Even if there’s no milk, I like the ambiance. It’s where all the cool kids hang out.” (PS: Pete/Calliope/nighty pie! My favorite!)

It’s nap time for Daphne on her favorite blankie. ❤️

Good night, innernets. (Smitty, Daphne and Pete)

Looks like Daphne really means those hugs and kisses, doesn’t it? (Yes, I put that toy on her and I’m not sorry.)

Calliope’s working the Donut Shack alone again, but that’s okay – apparently all the customers are sleeping in.

Tossing toys for the kittens (and Calliope). Daphne shows off her jumping skills. The girl can get some height!

Smitty’s tail has gotten SO LONG all of a sudden!

🎉 Former fosters Maverick (formerly Tango) and Carmelita (Sashay) recently turned 1, and this is what they (along with their big brother Ezra) look like now! (Note: Maverick is the classic tabby with the swirls)
Mike says: Ten days ago (Sept. 16), Carmelita and Maverick turned a year old, so I thought I’d let you know how they’re doing. In a word, great. They’re both very playful and active, and they’re also just wonderful company. They get along so well with their big brother Ezra that you’d think that he was one of Cha Cha’s babies too. The two boys are about the same size and are big. Carmelita is about half their size, but she still chases and roughhouses with the best of them. It’s difficult to capture with a camera, but Cha Cha’s orange is expressing itself more in Carmelita’s coat now. She’s such a pretty little girl. Thanks for giving these babies such a positive start in life. They’re both happy little characters. ❤️ What a wonderful update! (Thanks, Mike!)

Pete’s watching his big brothers stomp around the back yard and wishing he could join them. (Eventually he will, but he and Smitty are too small yet.)(We have a cat fence around our back yard – search “Purrfect Fence.” Permanent residents are allowed out there during the day.)

Good night innernets. (Daphne)
