So I’m getting a bunch of Fbook ads about metal litter pans now. (Gee…I wonder why they targeted me?) 🙂 Didn’t you try one a while ago? I looked under the recommendations column to get your thoughts, but didn’t see any. Was it worth the price?

I’m using one in the foster litter closet right now – it’s this one – actually. It’s fine, but I don’t know that it’s all that impressive – it is easy to scrub (it’s nonstick) and the kittens get in and out just fine, but with 7 kittens in the foster room, I’m using one of the metal litter boxes, one of the Luli & Cat disposable ones (because Sebastian’s got those short legs still, and the Luli & Cat boxes are perfect for him), and two concrete mixing mixing tubs. (And I can’t use the metal boxes for my cats because Charlie is a high pee-er.) So basically – it’s not NOT worth it, but I don’t know that it’s all that. Helpful, aren’t I? 🙂

Is that Uncle Rocco’s first visit to the kitten room?

I’ve been saying that this was Uncle Rocco’s first visit to the foster room, but yesterday when I answered this comment, a vague memory stirred and it seemed like mayyyybe he’d been in there before? So I went looking. There were plenty of foster-Rocco interactions, including…

Facing down Shelby, Drum, Clairee & Ouiser on the stairs in early 2024.

Trading the ol’ snifferoo with Pita in May 2024.

And here he is actually in the foster room, with a startled reaction from Skip. (Entire post is here.)

So yeah, he’s been in the foster room at least once before – and now twice! I’m sure there’ll be more visits in his future, especially if there’s kitten food for him to taste-test.

Margarita is just the cutest little poser.

It’s a Hazel loaf (my favorite!) and it looks like she’s having an existential crisis. “Do I wanna be a LOAF or do I wanna be a PIE or do I wanna be NEITHER?!”

Monty’s an adorable poser too.

Nigel’s got places to GO.

Benji’s all “What doin’, weird lady?”

Sebastian says “I’m here to talk about my bottle and the lack thereof.”

Matilda’s keeping an eye on Sebastian. She’s so stinking CUTE I just want to squoosh her all the time.

Benji is now adoption pending (there will be kitties in his new home to play with.) He’ll go home in a few weeks after he’s neutered. His family came to meet him last evening, and he did great. The biggest surprise to me was Sebastian, who stomped from person to person the entire time they were here, climbed up into laps, got lots of petting. No fear, that boy. Monty was friendly, Matilda was friendly, Benji took a few minutes to warm up, but did and then he unleashed his loud, loud purr for them. Hazel hid under the bed the whole time, but she let herself be petted, and was purring. Nigel hid under the blanket on the couch, then fled to the walk-in closet where the litter boxes are, where he occasionally wailed loudly. But by the time the family left, he was allowing himself to be petted. Margarita let herself be petted once or twice, but was more interested in playing. All in all, I think everyone did good!

Charlie (left) and Khal are like “We was promised sunshine.” Sorry, kids.

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr/ Bluesky) yesterday.

Matilda will sleep like an angel in her frog-themed spaceship bed. (She looks so SMUG.)

Throw Back Thursday: if you’ve wondered just how long the pink Adirondack chair has been around, I wondered that very thing myself, so went looking. The first picture I could find was this shot of Pablo and his crazy eyesfrom way back in 2020. The chair has held up better than I would have expected!

Is Nigel da BAYbee? All signs point to YES.

Sebastian’s selfie skills are ::chef’s kiss:: perfect!

🎉 Former foster! 🎉 Back in 2011, Dorothy showed up in our neighbor’s yard the day after an EF4 tornado cut a wide swath through our area. We fostered her, and then she was adopted and went to St. Louis! 14 years later, Andrea reports that she “still starts the day with a toy hunt and some caterwauling. Driving down to Alabama to adopt her is still the best road trip ever.” Happy Gotcha Day, Dorothy! (And thanks, Andrea!)

Nigel, as usual, has somethin’ to say and Benji is all “Yep. Yep. Totally. You’re right!”

Good night innernets. (Hazel)

Re: metal litter pans. I have covered boxes because Shylo is a high peer but I was having trouble with pee getting forced between the pan and the lid and onto the floor! So I bought some metal trays, basically cooking sheets, to put under the boxes. And the pee that gets on them is etching them, probably from the acidity in the urine. Is that going to be a problem with metal litter pans?

Agreed! Hard to believe that wee Dorfy is fourteen now–time sure flies–but wonderful to see some current pics and hear that she and her forever family are well and happy. Thanks Robyn and Andrea!
