I forgot to mention this in Friday’s post – I got a bunch more cards all at once, so I’ve scanned them and you can see them here at Flickr, or scroll through them below. I am confident that there are still more on the way to me, so if you don’t see yours, don’t worry, I’m sure it’ll get here!

2023 Holiday Cards Received

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Outtakes from the New Year’s Eve pictures.
I kept hoping Ouiser would jump up into that giant glass, but alas. Sure looks guilty, doesn’t she?
The smile and the wave kill me.
Drum from the first round of photo attempts, after which I realized that his tie was crumpled AND that I’d forgotten to use the mini disco ball lights I bought for JUST this occasion.
I’m not sure why I didn’t end up using this one – it kinda looks like Ouiser is hailing a cab here.
Shelby has a complaint (she was chattering at the feather teaser.)
The kittens were getting restless, I couldn’t get them to pay attention to the feather teaser and didn’t want to give them ANOTHER Churu, so I did a little dance in hopes of catching their attention and when I turned back around, they’d gone from sitting up to hunched down. I think I scared them (can’t say as I blame them.)
I got them centered under the garland, yay!
Smilin’ Clairee.
And smilin’ Ouiser.
I mentioned this in passing last week, but wanted to mention it again: the kittens are scheduled for their spays/neuter on January 24th, which is three weeks from tomorrow. Since we have a date for that, Forgotten Felines is now accepting applications. I need to put together descriptions and pictures so they can be listed on Petfinder and Facebook, but if you’re interested in adopting Drum, Clairee or Shelby, drop an email to info (at) ffhsv.org to inquire. We are located in Huntsville, Alabama; out of area adoptions are allowed, but adopters must come here to finalize the adoption and pick up their kitten(s). Forgotten Felines of Huntsville gives priority to those adopting two kittens together. If you are not interested in adopting two kittens, there MUST be a young cat already in residence for the kitten to play with (if you’re looking to be a single cat household, I guarantee that Forgotten Felines could hook you up with a cat who would be happy as an only.)
“ROBYN,” you are saying in an all-caps sort of way. “WHY ISN’T OUISER AVAILABLE. WHAT IS GOING ON. ARE YOU KEEPING HER?!” NO, we are not keeping her – the people who came last week to meet the kittens came with the intention of meeting/applying for Drum, but Ouiser turned out – TO MY GREAT SURPRISE – to do incredibly well with being handled, showed off her sweet purr, and just totally wormed her way into their hearts, so they applied for her. The application hasn’t been approved yet (it was a holiday weekend, after all), but I don’t expect any issues. They have a young cat who VERY much needs a friend, and I think Ouiser is perfect for that.
Oh, that fabulously floofy Khal. I could just squeeze him (and I often do!)
Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) Friday through Monday.
Clairee & Drum are all “Laundry’s done, lady!” Such helpful little monkeys, they are.
YouTube link
Ouiser and Drum are VERY leap-y kittens, and they love it when I toss Ping Pong balls for them so they can show off their skills.
How surprised was I to find that Drum can get up on this cabinet if he wants to? SO surprised. (Drum actually seems a little surprised, too.)
YouTube link
I clipped out some of the better jumps in the video I posted earlier, and slowed ’em way down. Drum and Ouiser’s jumps are even better in slow motion! (Also, the part where Shelby is trying to jump over Drum, gets her back feet hung and they both tumble to the floor has me cracking UP every time.)
I guess it was nap time and I wasn’t invited. Hmph.
Good night innernets. (Ouiser)
I had to get out the keyboard protector ’cause these kittens LOVE to hang out on my desk. Ouiser, especially, LOVES to hang out atop my keyboard protector and block my screen. Good for her she’s so cute!
The girls are hanging out and having some girl talk, I guess. (From back: Ouiser, Clairee & Shelby)
“Smile, Drum!” I said, and he gave me the soundless meow instead. Close enough!
YouTube link
Ouiser has a purrrrr.
Good night innernets, from a very sleepy Clairee.
I decided it was time to clean the foster room so piled all their stuff on the couch, whereupon my little helpers called for a play break.
Shelby loves the top of this cat tree – she can hang out, chill, and keep an eye on the goings-on in the room at the same time. Perfect!
YouTube link
Please do not bother Shelby, she is very very busy dealing with her end-of-year paperwork.
Clairee is pre-gaming with a bit of the ol’ NipSparkleTini with a yellow spring twist. She is READY for 2024 to get here.
Dapper Drum is all dressed up and ready to party. Let’s go, 2024!
Shelby is ready to greet 2024 in style.
Ouiser’s all “Barkeep, keep ’em coming, and don’t be stingy with the green beans!” 😺
“Don’t wait up, innernets. We got an old year to kick out the door and a new year to make friends with. And there’s gonna be catnip. LOTS of catnip.”
Happy New Year, from Clairee and all of us here at Love & Hisses. Here’s hoping 2024 is beautiful, magical, wonderful, and full of happy, purring kittens. ❤️
Rabbit rabbit rabbit. 🐰 (Shelby)  From Wikipedia: “Rabbit rabbit rabbit” is a superstition found in Britain and North America wherein a person says or repeats the words “rabbit”, “rabbits” and/or “white rabbits” aloud upon waking on the first day of a month, to ensure good luck for the rest of it.
In 2023, we had 42 fosters come through. Here’s a video of all their sweet faces (and in some cases, their voices and their purrs.) We had more losses in 2023 than we’ve ever had (11), but also so many healthy, happy kittens and cats. I’m not sad to see 2023 end; I hope very much for zero losses in 2024.
Happy New Year – I hope that 2024 is wonderful for all of us.
Napping with kittens (’cause we had a late night, THANKS NEIGHBORS). Drum is curled up under the blanket next to me, Shelby is fighting with/biting the string to my hoodie, and Clairee is smacking at Ouiser, who is tunneling around under the blanket. So restful.
I was taking a picture of Ouiser, and then SUDDENLY CLAIREE.
Good night innernets. (Shelby and Clairee)
    In Clairee’s photobomb, I suspect she was trying to tell you that it was impolite to take a picture of her sister when in such a delicate/personal part of her toilette. 🙂
    Love the “Don’t wait up, innernets” pic. It looks like one of your famous album covers pics.
    You should make a calendar of just those kinds of pics. You probably have enough, and I would definitely get one!
    I absolutely love how you adopt these kittens! That they have to be approved and come there to get them! I am on the board of a no kill shelter here in Virginia and they do the same thing. Part of our policy is that if they decide they don’t want to keep the cat or dog to return to the shelter. Thank you for all you all do for these kittens and thank you for posting pictures and videos every day. It absolutely makes my day. God bless you all.‍⬛.       Yes, Forgotten Felines will take back the cat for the life of the cat – I think most reputable rescues do (at least I like to hope they do!)
    LOL! The look they’re giving you after you danced for them is priceless!
    And, were the girls really wearing the pearls or was that photoshopped?
    1. Robyn says:
      January 2, 2024 at 1:51 pm
      They were really wearing them, and they were much better about it than I expected. (The funny thing is that the pink “pearls” Clairee is wearing LOOK photoshopped on – they almost look cartoonish to me – but I swear she was actually wearing them. I think they were picking up the light weird.)
        That is funny – glad you mentioned it because I thought they were photoshopped, no doubt, just to look extra comical and adorable! Yay! for reality!!
    Let’s talk about this new watermark.
    I’m guessing that its harder to erase but how is it applied? Is this automatic or do you have to decide where it goes?
    1. Robyn says:
      January 2, 2024 at 1:50 pm
      I use Picmonkey to watermark the pictures that are posted on social media*, and decide where it goes for each picture.
      *For the pictures in the first part of the post – which aren’t posted on social media – I use an app called Umark 6 that automatically puts the watermark in the same location (lower right). It takes less time, but when I’m posting pictures on social media (which is where my images get taken from 99.999% of the time) I want the watermarks to be harder to erase.
