Zephyr’s at the milk bar alone. The other kittens were too busy wrasslin’.
Kittens lined up, kinda. No one’s looking at me, but you can mostly see their faces. From left: Zeus, Zephyr’s butt, Pandora, Zephyr’s face, Cassandra and (back) Daphne.

Pandora. Such a cutie!
As of right now, the kittens haven’t left the crate, though they’re spending more and more time checking out the view. I put a folded-up blanket at the mouth of the crate to make it easier for them to get out and back in, if they so desire.
So far, they do not desire.
I’m going to give it another day, and then push the crate against the wall and zip the side door open to see if that gets things going. It’s not that I am so desperate for them to leave the crate – they could stay in there forever as far as I’m concerned, though things would get tight – but they need to come out so they can check out the litter boxes (which I have not yet set up) and start using them! In my experience, they always start using them about two days before they turn 4 weeks old, so the time is coming.

A visit with Uncle Rocco.
Rocco came through the house the other day and flopped down in the dining room to rest from the exhausting journey. The kittens came to see what was what.
Tortellini checked out the back, and Pierogi politely sniffed noses.
Wonton came to join in on the nose-sniffing while Tortellini sniffed other things.
Rocco decided he’d had enough and stood up suddenly, startling the kittens. Tortellini just stayed where she was, all “?” Wonton arched and floofed. Pierogi fell over onto his back in total submission. It was pretty cute.

When Khal sleeps and you can see his fangs, I think it is the cutest thing ever and I just want to squeeze him. And when Charlie covers his eyes with one paw, I also want to squeeze him. SO DANG CUTE.

It’s rare that you get to see the exact moment when Charlie hits his limit on kitten shenanigans. He is kitten’d OUT. (That’s Pierogi making himself comfortable.)

A little tip from me to you: when making Pierogi-Tortellini loaf (my favorite!) try not to overfill the pan, because filling spills out everywhere and it’s tough to clean up.

I had to change out the bedding in the crate, so piled the kittens in the pie plate – and had an escapee! Then the kittens went back into the crate, mama joined them, and (at the end) there was a fight at the milk bar. (There’s always a fight at the milk bar.)
Laundry’s done! Thanks for doing your job quickly, and well, Wonton. You’re a good one.

The kittens are 3 weeks old! They now look just like miniature cats. They’re doing pretty good toddling around the crate, and if they don’t start leaving the crate on their own in the next couple of days, I have a few tricks that will make it easier for them to figure out how to do so. (They almost always start using the litter box a couple of days before they turn 4 weeks old, so we need them out of the crate and exploring before then!)
Everyone’s gaining weight pretty well (I’m still supplementing occasionally) – you can see the weight chart right here.
