would love some proof of life for Katia and Kristi.

You can see Kristi & Katia on the Forgotten Felines of Huntsville Facebook page, when they posted Katia’s adoption.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I just saw this article about why some cats, and mostly males, are orange. Of course I immediately thought of ChaCha and her orange babies.
That is really interesting – thanks for sharing!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

ChaCha went for her spay yesterday! She did great.

We’re both glad to have THAT done and over with.

When we got home, the kittens were a little weirded out by her – the boys more than the girls. She went up on top of the cat tree and snoozed for a couple of hours, then woke up, ate most of a can of food, and then went looking for the kittens, woke them up, and flopped down so they could nurse.

Yes, it sounds like something that would be painful, having kittens knead on your abdomen a few hours post-spay, but I have yet to have a mama who has seemed to mind it.

Also – yes, ChaCha is still producing milk and will continue to do so. The vet who performs the spay surgeries avoids the milk ducts when she makes her incision. The kittens are starting to eat on their own, but they will continue to nurse just as long as ChaCha lets them. And if you’ve been around here for a little bit, you know that mamas almost NEVER stop letting their kittens nurse. (Hat tip to Katriane, the only mama we’ve had who decided one day “Y’all are DONE” and never let them nurse again.)

“My mama smells funny.” (Tango)

Mambo in the pink Adirondack chair.

The Flamenco ears are particularly good today – nice and fresh! Highly recommended!

I was sitting in the foster room with a lap full of kittens taking pictures of them – as you do – when Fred called up to me and asked me to come look at something.

So I grabbed the blanket, lifted the kittens out of my lap, and set them all on the floor.

I went downstairs to see what Fred wanted – he wanted me to see how bright the new light in the laundry room was, very exciting – and yes indeed, very bright – before returning to the foster room. I figured the kittens had wandered away from the blanket, but nope. They were still all curled up on it.

So I lifted the blanket and put them all back in my lap. The only one who was awake was Flamenco, who decided that her foot needed a cleaning.

Sashay and Tango are couch potatoes.

Mambo loves his mama.

Charlie and Alice on the couch. I wish they always got along like this.

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr/ Bluesky) yesterday.

I am CERTAIN that this is not the first time they’ve eaten solid food, but it’s the first time they did while I was in the room, so I’m declaring Mambo (top) and Sashay to be the champion solid food eaters of this bunch.

September 22nd versus October 22nd. That pie plate got REAL small, REAL fast!

ChaCha likes to be held like a baby (listen to that purr!), but she’s always concerned that the kittens are getting up to something they shouldn’t, so she had to go investigate.

I had ChaCha lying on her back in my lap, purring like crazy, and then all of a sudden Mambo came along and said “Don’t mind if I do!” I thought ChaCha was going to get up and stomp away, but nope. She just stayed there purring and he nursed for a few minutes then wandered off to nap.

Mambo’s playing in the scratcher tunnel, and ChaCha – as usual – is hanging out nearby, purrrrring.

ChaCha wishes you a happy Thlurrrpsday!

When you show up at a party wearing the exact same dress as your sister. (Sashay on the left, Flamenco on the right, and Mambo back there all “Oh, I’m not getting involved in THIS.”)

Good night innernets. (From the front to the back: Mambo, Sashay, Tango and Flamenco. And yes, they were all sound asleep.)

    Interesting article about orange cats. I have one of the “rare” female orange ones. She’s 15 now and has always been a wonderful girl.
