On Friday afternoon, I got word – Katia, who we fostered along with her mama Kristi (they were both pregnant when they came to us and had 10 kittens between them) HAS BEEN ADOPTED!

This was them in 2018.

While they were with us, Katia was totally feral – the few times I “accidentally” brushed my hand against her, she hissed VERY vehemently at me. Once their kittens were adopted, Kristi and Katia went to Michelle’s house. It took Katia a few years, but she went from totally feral to a lapcat!

Kristi was adopted once in 2020 but was returned; it just wasn’t a good fit for her. She (and Katia) stayed at Michelle’s until last fall, when she was adopted. And the people who adopted Kristi last fall have now adopted Katia!

Isn’t that wonderful news to start the week?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All the kittens are loving that tunnel scratcher, but no one loves it as much as Flamenco.
Tango pie! (My favorite!)
Sashay shows off her claws.
ChaCha’s all “Well, there she goes AGAIN.”
Flamenco looks like she’s suddenly remembered she left the stove on.
Mambo in the Fruitasan.
And Tango ON the Fruitasan. I need to get a video when they start climbing on it, because it swings around WILDLY.
When I took this picture of Flamenco approaching the mirror, I had NO IDEA that ChaCha was checking out the situation and that you could see her in the other mirror.
ChaCha’s all “Good shot, lady!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Alice would like you to know that she might be 15, but she does her daily yoga, and it keeps her nice and flexible!

(Note on Alice’s stomach: she had surgery for a bladder stone back in 2014. They shaved her stomach for it, and her fur just never grew back in as thick as the rest of her fur. It’s an awfully cute little pink stomach, though!)

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr/ Bluesky) this weekend.

Tango’s little face as he smiles up at his mama – have you EVER seen anything so sweet? (No, you have not.)

I thought Tango was going to belly-up alongside his siblings, but he opted to come climb into my lap instead. Awww!

No, they’re not eating solid food yet – kittens don’t generally start showing interest in solid food until they’re about 5 weeks old (these guys are 4 1/2 weeks old). Also they will nurse just as long as Mama lets them – and Mamas tend to let them nurse forEVER.

Flamenco loves to climb up into the pink Adirondack chair and contemplate her life.

ChaCha is starting to find her playful side.

In 2018, we fostered Katia (black, left) and her mother Kristi. They were both pregnant and between them they had 10 (!) kittens. The kittens were all adopted, and Kristi and Katia went to Michelle’s house. Last November, Kristi was adopted… and today, Katia was adopted into the same wonderful home! ❤️ Happy life, sweet girl! (PS: When I fostered them, Katia was so feral that I could never touch her even the tiniest bit without her hissing at me… in the years since, she’s turned into a total lapcat who welcomes love and attention!)

Tango’s doing some climbing practice in the crate – he has a soft place to fall in there, you know. Once he’s perfected his skills, he’ll be going after the cat trees next, I’m sure.

Flamenco’s like “I thought this tunnel would lead to somewhere more interesting.”

Good night innernets. (Sashay – and ChaCha as the pillow.)

Their eyes are still photographing as blue if I get much more than a few feet away, but here’s a closeup look at how they’re changing. Watching them change is such a cool process.

🎉 Former foster Patsy is settling in juuust fine! (That’s her in the middle.) (Thanks, Melissa!)

The kittens are kinda crazy this morning AND we finally have someone using the litter box! Kittens usually start using the litter boxes 1 – 2 days before they turn 4 weeks old, these guys are going to be 5 weeks old on Tuesday. I was starting to wonder if they were ever going to use the litter box, and finally they’ve started. Yay! (I’ve seen both girls use the litter box multiple times – haven’t seen the boys do it yet, which isn’t to say that they haven’t, just that I haven’t seen ’em.)

Flamenco’s had JUST about enough of Tango’s shenanigans and nonsense. That slappin’ paw is ready to go.

YouTube link
I don’t know what I love the most about this video – ChaCha talking to her kittens, Tango’s husky little meow as the kittens gather around ChaCha, the slurping sounds from the kittens nursing, the purring from ChaCha AND the kittens, or the way Sashay and Flamenco really put their shoulders into that kneading action. I just love it all, really.

Tango (top) and Flamenco are like “LADY. You mess with the kitten, you gets the claws. No more kissin!” Yeah, well, I’ll take my chances.

Sashay pie! (My favorite!)

Good night innernets. (Sashay fell asleep with her nose resting in Flamenco’s ear, and I swear this bunch is THE CUTEST.)

Flamenco loves her mama.

Flamenco wakin’ up in the Fruitasan, thinking about so many things. 🎵

Tango might be Da BAYbee. He doesn’t seem too inclined to admit it, though.

ChaCha’s all “Lookin’ good, kid.”

YouTube link
I walked into the room to find Mambo on the bed, all by himself, no other kittens around. Where oh where could they be?!

Sashay’s pretty sure that her siblings (in this case, Flamenco) only exist to serve as pillows for her.

Okay, so Mambo IS getting some freckles on his nose. That’ll be an easy way to tell him apart from Tango… although you KNOW as soon as I hit “publish” on this post, Tango will immediately grow freckles in the exact same spot.

Good night innernets. (Tango)

    The 2nd Flameco picture with the mirrors – the mirrors look like thought bubbles that are giving us a glimpse of the kitten thought process! (Myself, my home, my mama!) ❤️
