It’s Churu time with Pete and Smitty!

Pete always IMMEDIATELY grabs the Churu because he’s pretty sure it belongs to him.

And Pete says “Wait. That’s MINE!”

He pulls the tube toward him, while Smitty is all “Hey!”

I have to hold Pete’s paws so that Smitty can have his fair share.

Sometimes they share nicely, but only for a moment before Pete gets the Helpin’ Paws going again.
I really need to get a comparison picture of Pete and Smitty’s paws. Pete’s paws are HUGE and Smitty’s are noticeably smaller. There’s already a size difference between the two – Pete weighs about half a pound more than Smitty – and I wonder if Smitty will catch up or if Pete will always be much bigger. (They’re going to be 4 months old on Wednesday.)

Magoo was balanced here batting at Pete’s tail, and it was adorable. (Of course he stopped once I tried to take a picture of him in action.)

Charlie and Smitty watch Khal walk on by.

Charlie surveys his domain. (That hill he’s sitting on covers our in-ground storm shelter.)

Khal loves this bed, which is located under the side table between two recliners. I KNOW it’s one of his favorite places, but the number of times I’ve worried because “I can’t find Khal!” only to finally realize he’s lying there watching me look is… it’s a really high number.
(No Rocco picture today because I don’t have any. Rocco and I don’t interact much on a day-to-day basis because he’s an outdoor (neighborhood) cat and I’m an indoor cat.)

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr/ Bluesky/Threads) this weekend.

Breakfast is served! Clockwise from floofy orange Pete: Pete, Charlie, Smitty, Khal & Magoo.

Just two floofy boys (Smitty on the left, Pete on the right) sitting on the bench and waiting for their train.

Just like his mama, Smitty likes to play fetch!

Good night innernets. (Smitty (left) and Pete)

My assistant (Pete) is taking a break… AGAIN. And he’s not sorry.

🎉 Former fosters! Ezzie (Esmeralda, 2025; orange and white) is warming up to her siblings, and Becky caught her taking a nap with Frannie (Francesca, 2023; black). Also included in this set of pics: Reggie (Luc, 2019; gray tabby) and Nacho (Ignacia, 2023 – black and white tuxie). How sweet are they! ❤️ (Thanks, Becky!)

⏪THE DAILY REWIND⏪ In April of 2021 we were fostering Canasta and her kittens (the Cardsharks). One evening I was feeding them their canned food, and Fred – FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON – decided to start whistling, and a moment later I closed a drawer. This started a Category Six Kittenado that scattered to all the corners of the room. Fortunately, I was able to stitch together video from three Nest cameras to show the Kittenado is all its glory (my particular favorite is Uncle Charlie’s reaction to the scattering kittens.) Fred was of the opinion that I’d caused it to happen by closing the drawer, thus his “That was you!” in response to my turning and looking at him. (Yes, that blurred spot on the couch is Fred.)

Magoo says “So many boxes, so little time!”

Good night innernets. (Smitty)

Smitty and Pete like to hang out in this little cat tree and keep me company while I’m eating breakfast.

Pete, Smitty and Magoo take a little mid-day nap on their favorite cat tree.

⏪ THE DAILY REWIND⏪ From 2019, Margeaux letting her own kitten (tiny Beauregard on the right, about 7 weeks old) nurse, alongside Francois, who was possibly her grandson (around 3 1/2 months old). It’s a long, weird, fun story, just rest assured that everyone survived the experience. (And you can see Margeaux – now Elfie – and her daughter/co-mother Katriane – now Neko – on Instagram at keepingtabbies !

Three of the five! Far: Charlie. Middle: Smitty. Near: Khal. (Smitty is no longer hissing at his big brothers, so that’s progress.)

Pete and Smitty have themselves a tussle! (Pardon the loud hum in the background – we had a fan in the window during some momentary cool weather.)

Good night innernets. (Pete, stretched across the cat tree and the bed on my desk, and Smitty below him in the “bowl.”)
