Weekly Instagram/Facebook/Twitter/Tumblr Roundup.

I’ve been telling everyone that the permanent residents aren’t interested in the Target RV scratcher, but then I moved it downstairs, and Newt moved in. So that’s my pro tip for you: if your cat ignores the bed or scratcher or whatever you bought for them, then move it. If they continue to ignore it, move it again. Eventually you’ll find the right spot – or not. I mean, I don’t know your cats, I only know my own. (Also, don’t move it to a place where you’re not willing to leave it FOREVER.)

I generally tell people who adopt my fosters (and really, anyone who asks for advice) “Begin as you mean to go on.” Because if you start doing something for a cat or kitten, they will expect you to do it for them forever. AND YOU WILL. For example: this freakin’ window in the kitchen. At one point Fred opened the window to let Khal (or Archie or Newt or someone) out into the back yard* and now if they want in or out, they sit there and wait patiently for that window to open.

(There are two cat doors from the living room to the screened porch, and two cat doors from the screen porch to the back yard. Why go out the cat doors when eventually a human will wander along and open the window for you?)

*We have a cat fence around our back yard (we got it from purrfectfence.com). It does a great job of confining the cats to the back yard. They’re allowed out there during the day (basically sun-up to about an hour before dusk.)

Meet our permanent residents! Here we have buff tabby boy Newt, the oldest of our permanent residents.

Meet our permanent residents! Here we have brown tabby girl Kara – also known as Sheriff Mama.

Meet our permanent residents! Here we have loony gray tabby Jake.

Meet our permanent residents! Here we have Alice, also known as Alice Mo the calico. She’s 9 1/2 years old.

Meet the permanent residents! Here we have orange tabby Frankie (also known as Franklin Beans) who is 8 1/2 years old.

Meet the permanent residents! Here we have gray and white tabby Archie, who is almost 7 years old.

Meet the permanent residents! Here we have beautiful brown tabby boy Dewey, who will be 4 years old in March.

Meet the permanent residents! Here we have the gorgeously floofy boy Khal Drogo. He’s about 5 1/2 years old.

Fun fact: a few months before Khal showed up again after he’d been gone for a year (see the profile of him from earlier today for more details), a beautiful fluffy black kitten showed up on our property. She looked EXACTLY like him – that’s her on the left, Khal on the right. I was out of town, so Fred ended up trapping her. She became Privet, who we fostered along with the Evergreens litter in 2016. I don’t want to disparage Khal as a love-em-and-leave-em kinda guy, but she looked EXACTLY like him and he WAS unneutered. Just sayin’.

Hurray, hurray, Fleur was adopted today!! She joins two siblings in her new home – a young kitty who needs a friend so the older kitty can have a little peace. Happy life, sweet girl! ❤️

Good night innernets. (Permanent residents Jake and Frankie are snuggled up for the night and Jake clearly wished I’d go somewhere else!)
