Happy Turkey Day to you if you live in the United States – and Happy Thursday if you don’t – from all the turkeys here at Crooked Acres. Today (and always), we are thankful for you, because Love & Hisses readers, commenters, and even you lurkers are the best on the internet!

Throw Back Thursday: Thanksgiving Day 2009.


“Are you sure they said 11:00? I don’t see anything in there but a roasting pan. Are we too early?”

(That picture was taken back in 2009, the first and last year we ever raised turkeys. I always say that God created chickens and then he said “Huh. I wonder if I could make something dumber than a chicken” and he did.)

  1. A very happy, safe, and warm Thanksgiving to you and Fred and all of the Crooked Acres residents! I am very thankful for Love & Hisses and I start each and every day with ya’ll! I laugh, I cry, I think, I smile – Thank you! (and I decorate my fridge with Christmas postcards and tell endless stories to unsuspecting visitors who question the cats on my fridge!!! can’t wait for this year’s! [no pressure]) Have a wonderful day… I’ll see you tomorrow!

  4. Happy Thanksgiving to you all. we had our turkey day in Oct. food comas are oh so nice.
    that turkey pic gives me chuckles. When i was 19 , my dad decided he wanted to be a farmer, so we got 2 cows and a bunch of turkeys. these animals were so dumb! the cows ran off down the road and ended up at a butcher shop- we laughed when we got that phone call- and the turkeys, well lets just say they were delicious but my dad’s plucking skills left much to be desired,

    I, too, love to start my day here at L&H. It never fails to put a smile on my face and make work just a smidge more bearable. Then I come back in the afternoon to review the comments because the readers often crack me up, too. And in between I check out what’s happening on Facebook. So, I guess as a Canadian on this day, I’m thankful for all that!

    Thanks so much for all your efforts in producing a daily L&H, through sickness, health and getting up all night with bottle babies 😉

    Loved the photos of the turkats and the photo/caption combo of the turkeys. I must confess I don’t come here first thing in the morning as I check my emails first but I set it up that I get an email from FB about the post so I am here fairly early.

  22. Happy Thanksgiving! I cannot imagine stuffing the ears of either of my cats into any sort of hat!
