ATTENTION PLEASE: Someone sent me a Chewy gift card (thank you!), and as Amazon likes to do, there was no indication who it came from. Was it you? If so, please email me at mizrobyn (at) gmail.com so I can properly thank you!

I use feline pine litter, I’m sure you’re familiar with the pellets and how big they are. My question is, would your roomba be able to pick up pellets? I want to get one but want to be sure it would actually work on these.
I think it would, but honestly – I can’t swear to it. It mostly picks up dust and cat hair in my house, but it’s picked up the occasional toy mouse!
Who out there uses feline pine litter and has a roomba? Please weigh in!

As a long time reader who remembers when permanent residents numbered in the double digits (think days of yore, i.e., Fancypants and Ms Poo and everyone’s names started with an “S”), I’ve been curious for a while about whether or not you’d add to the clowder at some point. I thought maybe not, given the fragile social dynamics currently at play (you need to calm down, Rocco and Charlie). Your comment about Lovely Esmerelda’s furever home being elsewhere has finally prompted me to ask, though. My assumption would be there aren’t any active plans, but if someone came along and made sense?
The funny thing about once having had 14 cats at one time is that people often think that’s our goal – to have 14 cats. (Which is not what you’re saying, I know. It’s just something I’ve noticed!)
At this point, I don’t see bringing another permanent resident in. Charlie strongly dislikes adult females and isn’t crazy about adult males (though that depends on the male.) Alice is scared of other cats, and has to deal with the occasional jackassery from Charlie. They both do okay with foster kittens (as long as they’re given a reprieve from them overnight), which is likely because they’re used to being exposed to the fosters for a couple of weeks and then the fosters leaving to go home. I’d never say “never,” but I don’t see it right now.

Does one baby hissing set the others off?
It certainly seems to! Yesterday Mango was just sitting there, flopped across his sister. Then she started hissing and right after she started, he joined in.

These kittens seem to interact with the permanent residents more than e any of the other litters. Well, Charlie and Khal. Especially patsy. It’s so cute. Have they met Rocco? Of course we know Alice doesn’t like any of them.
They do interact with them a lot – I think it’s because they got the run of the house earlier than fosters usually do (because I needed to move them out of the foster room.) The fact that the kittens LOOOVE the adults probably helps, too. I imagine it’s hard to hate a kitten who thinks you’re super awesome and amazing and act like they’re looking at a rock star every time you come near! (I mean, Alice still manages not to like them, so it is POSSIBLE I guess.)
They’ve seen Rocco a few times, but having all three of them run over to check him out makes him a little nervous, so he heads for the garage door a little faster than usual!

Nolan likes to flop down on that pile o’ blankets at the end of my bed. Looks comfy, doesn’t he?
Owen’s hanging out in the corner of my bathroom, trying to stay cool.
Nolan’s all “You need filing done, lady?” He’s such a good helper.
“You talkin’ to me?” Patsy wonders.

We’ve been giving her some time to wander around the house and check it out (when Charlie is in the back yard), and it’s going well. The kittens can be a lot, so if they all three rush over to her at once, she growls and will halfheartedly slap at them, but if they give her space she’s fine. It’s hard for them, though – they really want to be friends, especially Patsy!

ChaCha says “Have you come to rile up my babies again?”
ChaCha likes a belly rub (but only for a few minutes. Then it’s a trap!)

This is the view from my desk. I love seeing them flit to and from the bird feeder. This one was trying to decide whether I was a threat.

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr/ Bluesky) yesterday.
If you missed it on the blog, they realized yesterday that Esmerelda had already been spayed! The vet found a tattoo in a higher location than they usually see it.
She’s also adoption pending and will go home in a couple of weeks! 🎉
(Permanent resident) Uncle Khal is all “You see what I put up with, here?” Patsy was snuffling around in his belly fur looking for a milk bar. Alas, there was none to be found.

Mama’s little hissers: hissin’ again. This is the HISSIEST little bunch I’ve had in a while!
Eyeball report! Sashay is peeking out of one eye, but her eyes are mostly closed still. Flamenco’s got one open eye, one half-open eye, and a complaint. Mambo has one wide open eye and one slowly opening eye. And Tango has two skeptical half-open eyes.

Patsy has a purrrrr.
Owen still fits (mostly) in the pink Adirondack… and he looks good in it!
The patrons are getting bigger, so there’s less room at the milk bar these days! From left: one of the boys (I’m pretty sure it’s Tango, but I can’t swear to it), Flamenco, the other boy (if that other one is Tango, this one is Mambo), and Sashay.
