They’re all “Excuse you, lady, tryin’ to nap here.” (From left: Reverb, Kate (front), Rum & Ollie)

Reverb, Ollie and Kate are wondering just what I’m doing with that feather teaser.

Along comes Rum, to make it a foursome.

“Whatcha doin’, lady?” Ollie wonders.

Ollie has a think.

Ollie has gone back to Michelle’s house for a little while, I dropped him off yesterday afternoon. He’s still got an upper respiratory infection going on, and he’s stopped taking his antibiotics (and refuses to take the other medication we’ve been trying to get into him.) Neither of us have been able to pill him, and liquid meds are out of the question – he has relaxed a lot since he came here, but he doesn’t like being handled or backed into a corner – and if we can’t get meds into him, he’s not going to get better, obviously. Michelle’s better at that sort of thing than I am, so hopefully she’ll get him medicated and over this crud, and he can come back and join the others.

To be clear: Ollie is a scaredy cat, and anyone who ends up adopting him will need to realize that up front. But I DO believe that given enough time he’ll turn into as big a lovebug as his sister. He clearly gets along great with other cats – he made friends with Rum and Reverb nearly immediately – so he’d do great in a home with other cats to play/snuggle with, where his adopter is willing to give him time and space to adapt.

“Pardon me,” says Rocco. “I’m ready for my daily stroll the house. Let me in!”

I’m tossing toys for the kittens, and they seem to be enjoying it!

Rum has a purrrrr, and everyone is just settling down in preparation for nap time, I suspect.

Today’s Rumdangle looks a liiiiiittle bit high. Too much catnip banana, I s’pose.

Random clips of the kittens playing (randomly.)

Good night innernets. (Reverb, in my lap)

Robyn and Fred: A heavily scheduled week prevented my daily Love and Hisses check-in until today, and I was so shocked and sorry to read of the loss of your beloved Alice-Mo. I remember when you first found her at Crooked Acres and I know how very much you both loved her (and she loved her Daddy and ham!). Take heart in knowing that you gave that beautiful girl the very best life possible. Any kitty landing in the Anderson household is a very lucky kitty, indeed. Wishing you healing for your hearts and sending great big hugs to both of you.

So much love to Mr. Ollie (Toliver Olivier Miracle Tricolor Mew, one in a million kitty afoot). May the meds get on board without trauma to anyone, human or feline, may the crud buzz off, and may a certain sweetly skittish male tortie (!!!) return to his friends and sister ASAP!

Best wishes to Ollie, that his stay at Michelle’s Health Spa will be short and completely successful; and that he will be able to return to the gang at Crooked Acre very soon.

I can completely sympathize with the difficulty you have had getting medication into Ollie. My baby is a beautiful fluffy calico who was dumped on a farm when she was a tiny kitten. Although she was thankfully rescued by Cats’ Protection, this traumatic start in life has left her very nervous, highly strung, and deeply suspicious of anything unfamiliar. She is attached to me, but all touch very much has to be on her terms, and to try to force a tablet into her mouth would be pretty impossible, and would hugely traumatize her . Fortunately I have been able to give her pills by grinding them down and mixing them with her favourite food, tuna. But I can never be sure that she will actually eat it, as she is so sensitive to any ‘funny business’ with her food, and will refuse it if she has noticed something different. And that isn’t even an option when you have 4 cats sharing a room and food dishes. Clearly Ollie and Kate had bad experiences with people before they were rescued that have left them wary, like my baby, and likely to be fearful of and resistant to humans trying to do something to them they don’t understand. I feel for you in not being able to get Ollie to take his meds – no-one could be kinder, gentler or more patient and understanding with nervous kitties. But hopefully Michelle, with her wealth of experience with the feistiest kitties – I think of Mamma Beatrice! – will be able to get the meds into Ollie, so that he can soon get well, and back to you and the furry gang. xx

I hope Ollie is better soon.

Getting meds into some cats is an exercise in futility. I do hope Ollie is better soon.
