In case you missed it, yesterday…

Pretzel and Fritter went home to Atlanta! Pretzel is still Pretzel; Fritter is now Peanut. I LOVE that they’re now Pretzel and Peanut. Or Peanut and Pretzel! We sure enjoyed getting some extra time with them, they are such sweethearts.

(And Jill said they’re going to have a page! I’ll share that when it’s up and running.)

Today’s post includes the last of my Pretzel and Fritter/Peanut pics.

So stinkin’ cute.

Sweet babies.

Pretzel making sure Fritter’s clean for the trip home.

I went out on the screened porch to refill the food bowls, and the kittens (who have not been allowed out there because (1) it’s Alice’s only place to get away from kittens, and (2) I’d be too worried about them figuring out the cat doors to the back yard) were all “WHAT ARE YOU DOING OUT THERE?!”

Newt and Fritter watching birds.

Pretzel was like “Uncle Newt, you scoot over a little so I can watch birds with you?” (Uncle Newt declined that request.)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Enjoy your break,” some people said on Facebook yesterday when I announced that Pretzel and Fritter had gone home. “Hope you get some time to relax between litters!”
Ha.
Say hello to Moira Rose.
We got her over a week ago – she’s been hanging out in the guest bedroom ’til the foster room was empty – and at first she did a lot of this.
Now she’s still a bit nervous, but thinks that petting is maybe not so bad.
Yes. I do believe she’s got kittens in there.
She’s a pretty, pretty girl.
I’ve had several cats in the past that I thought were pregnant, but turned out not to be. So I’m not 100% sure any cat is pregnant unless they’re actively giving birth. But I’m like 75% sure that she is.
I think we’ve got at least a couple more weeks to go. (Not that I ever really have a CLUE.)
She came from an outside colony of cats, is clearly not feral, and is about 10 months old. (Yes, that’s young. Caroline was younger and smaller.)
The naming theme for Moira Rose and her future kittens is the TV show Schitt’s Creek. Since I’m leaning away from calling them, collectively, The Schitt-heads (I really do try not to offend people, believe it or not), if you’re familiar with the show and have a suggestion, I’m all ears. (I thought about calling them “The Jazzagals”, but the idea of having to explain that no, all the kittens are not girls, see it’s from this show… made me tired.)
Moira. Give us the bébés.
Khal’s like “Oh, what a relief. I was afraid we might go without fosters for half a second. More screamy newborn kittens? I am joy-filled.”
    Name them the O’haras after the actress for Moira Rose.
    The Creekers… I know of the show but haven’t watched it so I’m going with the other half of the title.
    How about calling them The Rosebuds?
    Aw, Moira Rose has a cute round little face like Dennis had. ❤ Can’t wait to see her babies!
    Yay! I love that show! The Rosebuds works. (Though, I will still secretly think of them as The Schitt-heads.)
      I think we’ll ALL think of them as The Schitt-heads. 🙂
    Oh so young to be having babies… 🙁
    But you landed in the very best place for your first and last litter Moira Rose!
    And I’ve been around long enough to know it’s killing 12 year old you that you can’t call them the Schitt-heads! Hee hee hee!
    Isn’t there a pregnancy test for cats yet? We live in the 21st century, you’d think there would be one by now, without taking an x-ray or ultrasound. She looks so much like Eclair or Annie Oakley with that cute little face. Hope everything comes out all right!
    1. Robyn says:
      December 30, 2020 at 4:57 pm
      There probably is, but it’s hard for them to pee on the stick (ba DUM bum!) They can do ultrasounds, but if the cat isn’t far enough along, the kittens won’t show up, so it’s not foolproof.
    Moira Rose, you are just beautiful! The Rosebuds (Rose-Budds?) would work, if you feel like you really can’t call them The Schitt-Heads! And this reminds me I need to go watch the last couple seasons of Schitt’s Creek — it took me several episodes to get into that show, but then I binged 3 seasons, sometime early in the pandemic….
    LOVE Khal’s comments.
    How about the Binge-ers (not sure of how that would be spelled) but binge watching was what I was thinking. Maybe the Doldrums if that doesn’t sound too dreary. Ooh how about the Quarantinies!
    What a beauty! I am partial to the tabbies, especially ones with eyes like hers! And thanks for the laugh!!
    Can you just call them the Creeks?
    I love the Pretzel/Peanut combo! So cute!
    Moira Rose is very pretty! And I agree that The Rosebuds would be a great name for the litter! Although, Schitty-kitties makes me giggle, too.
    As the kittens get bigger, can’t you see them kicking in Mom’s belly?
    1. Robyn says:
      December 30, 2020 at 4:57 pm
      Yes, but we’re not nearly to that point yet – and she never stops moving, which makes it even harder to tell if the kittens are kicking. 🙂
    I think naming Moira and her kittens after constellations would be interesting. You could call them “The shooting stars”, because of a current meteor shower, the Geminids.
    You could also name them after characters from Dinosaur Island. A good name would be then “The dinos”.
    Moira Rose is stunning. And I know you said you don’t want to, but the 10 year old boy that lives in my head REALLY wants you to name this litter the Schitt-heads. The question to ask is, will future Robyn regret not taking the opportunity? (And if anyone says anything when you refer to Schitt-heads, you can always say you were misunderstood, and what you really said was “Schmitt-heads”, and that this is a technical term given to kittens with certain cranial features.) After all, you’ll be naming the actual kittens after characters of the show – it’s not like you’ll be naming them Jack, Awe, Deep, Oh, Noe, Holy, etc.
    Whatever you name them, I know they’ll all be stinkin’ adorable and spoiled rotten.
      HAHA! Those would be tremendous names for kitties!
