In case you missed it over the weekend…

On Friday, Andi (who was adopted in February and returned recently) was adopted again! It sounds like the perfect home for her – it’s a family with a kitty who needs a friend. Andi was very friendly and affectionate with the people as well, which wasn’t the experience the first adopter had with her. You know, sometimes things just aren’t a great fit – I’m glad that the first adopter knew they could return her to Forgotten Felines and did so. And glad that Andi’s new family came along!

And then, on Saturday…

Esmeralda was adopted! She went home to Maryland, where she joins a family that includes former fosters Reggie (formerly Luc), and Frannie (Francesca) & Nacho (Ignacia). She is such a chill girl, she reportedly did great on the flight.

Of course we miss her, but Charlie is certainly a lot easier to deal with when he’s not stomping around all ticked off.

I have a handful of pictures I took while she was here with us that I haven’t posted yet, and here they are. What a photogenic girl!

“This banana smells very interesting, lady.”

Such an excellent poser, that girl.

Taking a break from batting toys around the downstairs.

It took her approximately 10 seconds to acclimate to her harness (I always provide a harness and leash for cats/kittens who are traveling by airplane.)

She spent a couple of hours playing like a crazy thing Saturday morning, and was just settling down for a nap when it was time to head out.

Mambo (left) and Tango take a look around.

“It’s a big world out there,” says Tango. “We should go out and take a look around!”
“You’re crazy. It’s dangerous out there with the lady doing all the picking up and the kissing,” said Mambo, who stomped back to see what his sisters were doing.

“Hmm,” said Tango.

And out he came!

Later, he came out again – the above pictures are from the very first time he came out of the crate. The part in the video (in the social media section) was actually his second time out. Sometimes the first time they leave the crate is kind of a fluke – I wanted to be sure he MEANT to come out. Turns out? He did!

He checked out the Fruitasan. “Oh, he’s too little to figure out how to climb up into that,” I thought.

And in he went!

Then out he came!

I turned the crate so that it was against the wall, and then opened the side door. The side of the crate is lower than the front of the crate, and I wanted to be sure that if the girls – who are much smaller than Tango – got out, they’d have no trouble getting back in.

Flamenco said “I could go out here…”

Maybe not!

I’ve got their litter boxes set up, so hopefully they’ll start checking those out. This is on the late side for kittens to leave the crate – usually it’s just after 3 weeks that they start coming out, and these guys will be 4 weeks old tomorrow. Not that I’m complaining – I’d rather have them take their time than leave too soon and get confused.

The kittens are really getting the hang of this “walking” thing. Look at ’em motoring around that crate!

Flamenco’s keepin’ it clean.

Mambo and Tango are figuring out how to wrassle, and Sashay and Flamenco are taking baths. I’m so ready for them to leave that crate!

🎉 Former foster Pippin (formerly Carmy) is helping to sort papers. Sharon said: “He is a bundle of energy much of the day, so him just hanging out is a bit of a surprise. ” (Thanks, Sharon!)

Esmeralda’s gotten more playful these past few days, and one of the things she’s been playing with is the track ball toy.

Hooray, hooray! Andi, our foster who was adopted back in February and then recently returned, has been adopted again, and went home today! Happy life, sweet girl! ❤️ (I am reusing the picture I posted when she was adopted in February.)

YOU GUYS. I saw this freckle on Mambo’s nose and got SO EXCITED because it was going to make it easy to tell him apart from Tango. But then I touched it and it fell right off. It was just a bit of dirt. Darn it!

Mambo says “Shoot. I forgot to make reservations and the milk bar is really busy tonight!” (But don’t worry, one of the patrons wandered off and there was space for him.)

Good night innernets. (Esmeralda)

Good morning, sunshine. (Esmeralda)

Did I mention that Esmeralda likes ping pong balls? Here’s the proof. She was having a blast this morning!

Hooray, hooray, Esmeralda was adopted today! She’s headed home right now to Maryland, where she’ll join former fosters Reggie (formerly Luc, 2019) and Nacho and Frannie (aka Ignacia and Francesca), 2023! Happy life, sweet girl! (She will remain Esmeralda!) ❤️

🎉 Former fosters Arlo (orange tabby – formerly Nigel) and Emmylou (Matilda)! Bethany says: “They are living their best lives. Emmylou is enjoying the first fire and Arlo super loves his dog friend Maisie.” (Thanks, Bethany!)

Good night innernets. (Flamenco and Tango)

Tango gets a boost from Mambo. Climbing practice is best with a buddy.

🎉 Former foster Crumpet is ADORABLE (and how cute are those feet? SO CUTE.) Thanks Geeta!

Esmeralda was adopted and went home yesterday – to Maryland, where she joins former fosters Reggie (formerly Luc) and Frannie (Francesca) and Nacho (Ignacia)! (She is keeping her name.)
Here’s her “From ‘hello’ to adoption” video – with nearly all the pictures I took of her while she was with us.

🎉 In case you were worried about how Esmeralda would settle in… She is doing juuust fine! ❤️ (Thanks, Anita!)

Tango has the zoomies (his zoomies are still a little wobbly), and then for a little encore, he leaves the crate!

In case you missed the video earlier, Tango’s the first one out of the crate. The others, I suspect, won’t be far behind! (He comes out, explores a little, and then returns to the crate.)

Good night innernets. (Flamenco & Tango)

Aw so great to see Esmeralda happy in her new home, and Tango making a little break for it! Seeing all the previous fosters is such a joy too 😀

I always love seeing baybees take their first steps out of the crate!

Over the weekend, for some strange reason, I was thinking about names for a future litter. Have you ever done a news reporter/journalist theme? I came up with these so far:
    Walter Cronkat
    Regis Furbin
    Matt Meower
    Kattie Couric

Hooray for Andi’s new family! And for Esmeralda’s family — love the picture of her napping with her peep!
Such fun to see the tinies making their first forays out into the Big World Beyond the Crate.
