Flirty Leia. She was looking at Kate, who was just off-camera.

Charming talks to the feather teaser, while Buttercup and Jareth look on.

“What you want, lady? We was sleepin’.”

They’re pretty sure that when I venture upstairs in the late afternoon, there should be food coming their way.

Buttercup, amazed.

Almost got all five of them looking up at me. That Jareth just can’t stay still, though.

Buttercup and Charming, showing off their size difference while looking up at the feather teaser.

Leapin’ Buttercup.

Their tails have gotten really long all of a sudden.

Jareth, chasing after Aslan.

Crazy boys.

Oh Khaleesi, you pretty, pretty girl.

I put them all on that blanket in the corner, and they all immediately walked OFF the blanket, never to return.

Ember said “Um, hey guys? I think we’re supposed to stay here? Guys?… GUYS?”

Puff said “Oooh, a toy!” and Ruth said “Oooh, the ceiling!” and Scorch said “———-!”

Puff said “Oooh, what’s over here?!” and Ruth said “Hey, where’s HE going?!” and Scorch said “————?!”

Scorch smiled up at the ceiling fan, because…. why not? (This picture reminds me VERY much of Calvin in the third frame of this Calvin and Hobbes.)

“————.”

Ember ventured off the blanket and said “OHMAHGAWD you guys, I’m stuck on the other side of this toy and I’m going to be alone FOREVER!”

She went back to the blanket and said “This isn’t funny, you guys, WE ARE SUPPOSED TO STAY ON THE BLANKET! That weird lady PUT us here!”

“Right, weird lady? See how I’m being the good one and they’re all very very bad?”

“Mama! MAMA! I’m being good because I’m a good girl and they are being BAD. Mama, WAIT!”

Jake’s going to just stay outside because there are a LOT of floofy, hissy kittens in there and it’s just safer out here, THANKS.

The crate, the blanket… Looks like the kittens want to be ANYWHERE but where you want them. Perhaps it’s time for some reverse psychology? “No, kittens. No kittens on the blanket!”

I’ve decided to just go with what they want to do. They want to be in that corner, I put a bed in the corner. They KNOW they’re the bosses of me. πŸ™‚

    Poor Ember, she’s a little Momma’s girl isn’t she?

    1. Robyn says:
      May 28, 2013 at 12:46 pm

She’s a total Mama’s girl – and also a bit nervous about the world in general. πŸ™‚

Wow, that last batch of kittehs is growing SO fast. If you blink your eyes, they’ll be grown! Ruth seems to be showing a bit of fuzzy/longish hair … or is that just a kitteh stage?

    1. Robyn says:
      May 28, 2013 at 12:47 pm

I think it’s just the stage and that she’ll grow into her fluffiness – but I’d love it if she turned out to be extra floofy. πŸ™‚

OMG – LOVE those action shots of the boys running down the hall. πŸ™‚

Everytime I see Norbert (not shown today – haha) I think of our current foster boy Rocket – they could be brothers from another mother: (Rocket is the black and white kitten in the first picture…yeah – I know it isn’t a great shot) http://randomfelines.blogspot.com/2013/05/space-kitten-saturday.html

Aslan looks like he is looking at his tail and saying, “Hey, chewing on that must make it GROW!”

Oh, I just want to pick Ember up and squoosh her silly! And where did Scorch pick up that language? Has he been sneaking into the kitchen during DCEP photo shoots??

  13. Brigitte says:

They are so friggin’ cute at this age. Oh.my.god. Mister Jake won’t put up with the kittens? He looks like he’d make an awesome babysitter…

LOL, that action shot of Aslan chasing Jareth is too funny! Funny little cute monkeys…how did they get so big? Weren’t they like, 4 days old yesterday?

    1. Robyn says:
      May 28, 2013 at 4:10 pm

He puts up with them fine once they calm down – they’re still kind of hissy right now, so he’s avoiding them. πŸ™‚

Speaking of never staying on the blanket: This one made me laugh my head off … and think of all your kittens. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=504254249628756&set=a.225854244135426.67787.211062615614589&type=1&theater

My turn to ask for the collective kitty wisdom of Love and Hisses!

As I assume everyone here knows, declawing really is not humane and normally entails chopping off the last knuckle of each toe. It causes all kinds of problems and just isn’t a good or kind thing to do. Well, a friend of mine mentioned that her vet has a method of declawing that I had never heard of. He leaves the paws intact and just cuts the tendon on each toe that allows them to extend the claw. According to her, the cat was a little sore but recovered within 24 hours and had no litterbox issues or behavioral changes at all.

I’m not entirely sold – I still think that declawing a cat still removes their natural defenses and leaves them vulnerable and I still wouldn’t do that to any of my furbabies – but what do people here think? Legit or crap?

    1. Robyn says:
      May 28, 2013 at 6:07 pm

I actually have not heard of this method of declawing – but severing tendons still sounds painful to me! I’m going to post this in Friday’s post and we’ll see what people have to say. πŸ™‚

      1. Kerry says:
        May 28, 2013 at 7:14 pm

Let’s reverse the image and have the cat sever the vet’s tendons. Hmm, sounds inhumane — even though the vet won’t have to scrabble about in a litter box afterward. I’m not being flippant, and I write as someone whose first cat regarded claw clipping as a vile assault on her very being, and reacted accordingly. Nonetheless, I would never have contemplated declawing her.

        1. sourpuss says:
          May 29, 2013 at 7:16 am

If a cat can’t extend/retract their claws, how are they supposed to do normal cat things like stretch and make biscuits & sharpen them on furniture… and how are we supposed to clip their toenails as they grow? If it weren’t for that extend/retract feature it would take me forever to clip them!

I am definitely not sold and I think it sounds just as cruel as declawing. πŸ™

I love how Buttercup’s white front looks like a Rorschach card. (I think it’s Buttercup, isn’t it?) “I see two people laughing about funny things their kittens did. Right?”
