FIRST THINGS FIRST: I am going out of town on vacation for a week, and I am taking the entire time off not only from the blog, but also from social media. There will be no posts here or on social media until I get back – hopefully there’ll be a post next Monday, BUT I am getting home late on Sunday, so if there isn’t a post on Monday, there will definitely be one on Tuesday!

In the meantime, there are 5,500+ posts on this here blog. Have you seen them all?… Are you SURE? This button below (there’s another one just like it over there in the sidebar) will take you to a random blog post.

Be good while I’m gone, and if you can’t be good then remember all the details and tell me about it when I get back. See you next week!

Two little pumpkins. If you haven’t looked at the Permanent Residents calendar, you may not have seen this picture of Smitty and Pete. I thought it was perfect for next October!

Then they were like “Yeah, we’re done posing lady.”

Pete was slacking on top of the taco truck, and Smitty was off playing.

Then District Manager Charlie showed up and was like “THIS IS NOT HOW YOU RUN A TACO TRUCK. Let me show you!” He sat and waited for customers, but alas.

⏪ THE DAILY REWIND⏪ From 2020, the Vittles kittens were playing – and if you turn up the sound, you can hear Charlie – who was still a kitten – wailing at the door to be let in.

I bought this rug at Costco a couple of weeks ago and of course at first the cats ignored it. But in the last few days they’ve decided it’s pretty comfy! (It’s machine washable, or else I wouldn’t have bought it. There’s no place in this house for rugs that can’t go through the washer.)

⏪ THE DAILY REWIND ⏪ In September 2024, I was in bed when I heard Tina yelling at the top of her lungs. After a minute of it I got up and went in to see what was going on. As you’ll see in the video, when I walked in there were kittens everywhere, and everyone was confused. I assumed that they’d all wandered away from the crate and she was upset because she wanted them IN the crate. I helped her corral them back into the general area of the crate, and finally she went into the crate and they followed her in.

I went back to bed and decided I’d look on the Nest camera to see what had happened just before she started yelling at them, and IMAGINE MY SURPRISE when what I saw was that all the kittens had been in the crate asleep, then Tina went over and started yelling at them until they woke up and came out and followed her, and then she ran off and left them milling about until I came in, whereupon she was like “These kittens! I want them to stay in the crate, but they never listen to me!” I don’t know if her plan was to run a fire drill or “lose” them on the other side of the room or what, but it was certainly an interesting evening.

Magoo and Smitty were hanging out having a snuggle, when along came Petey Floofypants to see what was going on. I think we’re gonna need a bigger bed!
