Weekly Instagram/Facebook/Twitter/Tumblr Roundup.

Alice, with attitude (and a floofy Khal behind her.)

In case you forgot, Khal is magnificent.

Good night innernets. (Archie)

Former foster update! Last fall, when we were fostering the 15-kitten “litter” The Vittles, sassy bobtailed kitten Tater Tot was one of them. Her people came from Charlotte, NC to get her, and she’s now Periwinkle! There she is on the left in October, and that’s her more recently on the right. You can follow Periwinkle, her brother Buzz and their sweet floofy doggy brother Brinkley on Instagram at @sirbrinkleypickles/ !

“Come ON, guys, this way to the catnip!” says Charlie.

Good night innernets. (Alice Mo the calico.)

Former foster Fizzbin and her BFF/brother Cotton Tail. Fizzbin is doing great (as you can see!) and is working on convincing the older kitty Ali, (not pictured) that she’d make a good friend. Meanwhile, these two pictures have killed me dead… (Thanks, Michelle!!)

“Nyah.” Newt, under the potted Meyer lemon tree.

The magnificent Khal is so magnificent that even in a picture taken through the window, his magnificence shines through.

Good night innernets. (Archie, who likes to find the best out-of-the-way places to curl up and sleep.)

Former foster update! Back in 2018, we fostered Ryder and her 9 (you read that right, NINE) kittens. One of those kittens was this girl, Solenoid. There she is on the left, in 2018, and on the right is what she looks like now! Her name is now Grizzabella. Turns out she’s a bit of a diva and a little bit (maybe a lot) bossy! She’s 100% gorgeous, in any case.

(Thanks, Megan!)

Animal Love in Costa Rica, a nonprofit, no-kill charitable organization was founded in 2014 on the belief that all animals deserve respectful loving treatment and protection by humans and by law.

Animal Love shelter hosts more than 1,000 animals, mainly dogs (450+) and cats (350+) but does not reject any animals in need – horses, sheep, goats, chickens, geese, ducks, rabbits, etc. are all welcome.

The pandemic brought economic downfall, causing many abandoned animals to be left at the door of Animal Love.

Without financial aid, the shelter is in danger of being shut down, and the animals to be released to the streets or put to sleep by the authorities. The founders of Animal Love are terrified to face this reality and are doing everything they can, working day and night, trying to raise funds to prevent it.

Please donate if you can at bit.ly/animalloveig, check out their Instagram page @animalloverescue, their web page, and share! ❤️

Jake and Charlie are having some brudderly bonding time (and blocking one of the cat doors between the screened porch and living room.)

Good night innernets. (Jake.)

In April when I mentioned that we’d been fostering for 16 years and had fostered a total of 442 fosters, someone asked how many of those were foster fails. I told them I’d have to get back to them, and now I know the answer: we’ve had 10 foster “fails.” Today’s blog post – love-and-hisses.com – is about the first five, pictured here. (Tomorrow’s post will cover the other 5.)

I went through and counted the number of permanent resident cats we’ve had since 1999, and including the current permanent residents, there have been 26 (not all the cats we’ve had started out as fosters – some we adopted before we started fostering and some showed up on our property when we lived in the country.) (And to be honest, I thought the number would be higher than that!)

Throw Back Thursday: From some time last year (I think), (permanent resident) Alice Mo the calico heard there might be ham on the menu, yo.

Thlurrrpsday! (Permanent resident) Newt shows off his thlurrrping form.

Throw Back Thursday: From 2014: The Grocers kittens have the hippity-hops… so why not slowwww it dowwwwn?

Throw Back Thursday: from 2007, that is permanent resident Newt – who wasn’t much more than a kitten – and some chicken friends checking out whatever food I had just tossed to them. (The cats and chickens used to hang out in the back yard together all the time until we got MORE chickens and Fred built the BIG coop out in the back part of the property. The cats mostly ignored the chickens unless the chickens got squawky and flapped their wings, which the cats found kinda scary.)

Throw Back Thursday: from 2015, Belushi, Gilda, Shecky and Rickles are sleepy. Soooo sleepy. But they don’t want to go to sleep, they might miss something. But soooo sleepyyyyy…. (Good night innernets.)

In April when I mentioned that we’d been fostering for 16 years and had fostered a total of 442 fosters, someone asked how many of those were foster fails. I told them I’d have to get back to them, and now I know the answer: we’ve had 10 foster “fails.” Today’s blog post – love-and-hisses.com – is about the second 5 foster “fails,” pictured here. (Yesterday’s post covered the first 5.)

I’m not naming any names*, but SOMEONE is super ticked off that the chipmunk he was hunting managed to get away from him. He just wanted to PLAY, really he did!

*It was Charlie.

Jake takes his comfort where he can find it.

Good night innernets! ((Permanent resident) Archie.)
