Check out this utterly adorable picture! I didn’t take it, but I got permission to put the Love & Hisses watermark on it because it’s the sort of thing that would get stolen and reposted, and I haven’t got the energy for a hissy fit at the moment.

How cute is that? SO cute! It makes me snicker every time I look at it.

Edited to add: That baby is my grandnephew, and the photobomber is his kitten Coal. 🙂

Before Mr. Stripey and Sungold went off to their forever home, I got these pictures.


“Let me in!”


“I see you! I know you’re in there! Let me IN!”


Barney was not impressed.


I think he was wondering if Stripey was actually going to be able to slide in under the door.

I did open the door and let him in, and the Beans were so freaked that they hissed and growled and growled and hissed, and Stripey went and hid under their cat tree. So I picked him up and set him back out into the safe zone of the hallway.

Mr. Stripey and Sungold are now in their forever home with Lynn! I met up with Lynn at Petsmart yesterday and turned them over to her – it’s always nice to put a face with the name.

I’ve heard from her, and it’s going even better than we could have anticipated. The boys are exploring their new home, being sweet and friendly and haven’t been a bit stressed.

I told Lynn that I think they’re probably the most laid-back kittens we’ve ever had, and they’re certainly proving that it’s true!

We miss having them here, but I don’t think I could have asked for a better home for them. I love that they’re staying together, I always love it when siblings are adopted together.

7 1/2 years old, and Sugarbutt and Tommy still snuggle up from time to time. Love it!


I got that window shelf using my Fresh Step Paw Points. I didn’t really think they’d use it, but Tommy uses it all the time. Miz Poo gets up there from time to time, too. I’d say it’s a hit!

    So cute to see Tommy and the Suge cuddling after all these years. And I’m so jealous of Lynn and her two orange guys…. so good to hear they are settling in well.

    So it’s just a happy Monday isn’t it?

  4. Haha, Bitsy has that “there may or may not be a PSYCHO SERIAL KILLER BEHIND YOU, or maybe just some dust motes, I can’t really tell” look going on.

    Also Robyn, I mentioned the cat I was taking care of a few days ago and told you I’d put pictures up. I finally got off my butt and took some decent ones with my phone. This is Dave!

  5. “Forever home”?? Did I get that phrase from you? I posted a picture of my foster Frosty right before he went to his forever home on Facebook and several people assumed he was dead instead of adopted. :0

    1. I don’t know if you picked it up from me, Kelly, but it’s used pretty widely through the fostering/ kitty/ puppy/ other adoptable animals community. I saw the comments on your post on Facebook, and I was just like “Uh, wha?” I’m thinking that if “forever home” had that meaning (which I could kind of understand), you might have been a little more… um… somber? Than just posting his picture and saying “Here’s Frosty before he went to his forever home!” 🙂 (PS: Yay, Frosty!!!)

      2. I think the photo went mini-viral with so many likes that people outside the regular animal community saw it. I didn’t recognize any of those names and they aren’t my regular readers, but sheesh…

        1. Evidently these people need a LART over the head, because people who would assume that evidently don’t realize that adoption is and should be for the life of the animal. Maybe that’s the missing link there.

        2. Oh, I had forgotten that that happens – if someone comments on something you posted on FB, I think it shows up in the FB feed of their followers. Like, “So and so commented on…” and then the post shows up. And I think a lot of people don’t realize that it was the post of someone they don’t follow and they don’t necessarily realize what’s going on. I’ve had a few people show up on L&H posts like that. It’s often… interesting. 🙂

    2. Forever home/mom/dad/family is also used in human adoption. As an adult adoptee, and an adoptive mother, I was very tired of hearing questions about ‘real mom’ etc. I am my son’s REAL mom, I just didn’t give birth to him. So when “forever” came along, I readily embraced it. 😉

  6. Read Kelly’s note – I have never had anyone tell me that they presume that “forever home” has a negative connotation…..wow, that is strange.

  8. Something not quite right with Coal. Not sure if there’s an invisible “soon” over his head or he’s remembering when HE used to be the baby.

  9. Coal is da bomb!! Did they tell you what happened after they took this picture? I can imagine a funny action sequence following!

    I love the questioning paw under the door…I see that a lot in my house too!
