Nolan says, “You talkin’ to me?”

Another day, another blep from Lilia.

Patsy gets grabby with mama’s tail.

Lilia declares everyone needs a bath.

Owen’s still loving that tunnel scratcher (all the kittens are, really.)

The kittens are climbing up onto the couch – they are all OVER that thing. I’m sure it’s just a matter of time before they figure out how to get up on those shelves! (Well, at least the lower one.)

Bath time for Nolan. Lilia believes in clean kittens!

Yep, that’s a clean kitten alright.

Lilia says “I see you, lady.”

“And I’m gonna GET you!”

Alice on the back porch in the hottest part of the day, of course.

Heeeere comes Owen!

Name: Alice
Nickname: Alice Mo the Calico, Mo, Miss Mo
Date of birth: June 6, 2010 (that makes her 15 years old)
Loves: Her daddy (yo), ham, raw chicken (if she hears me cutting chicken, she will HOWLLL at me until I give her some), lying in the sunshine, melting in the summer heat (the hotter the better)
Tolerates: Khal, and me (and fosters, as long as they don’t get too close to her)
Dislikes: Charlie
Alice showed up on our front porch on a frigid night in December 2010. Fred spotted her when he stepped outside, and she ended up hiding under a huge bush near the porch. We tried luring her out, but she wasn’t having it. Finally, we set a trap on the front porch baited with mackerel and ran a quick errand into town (we were returning a movie to Blockbuster; IT WAS A DIFFERENT TIME, Y’ALL). When we got back, she was in the trap. She was absolutely terrified of both of us, but after a few days of hard work (mostly on Fred’s part) she came around. She was so small that I thought she was about 6 weeks old. Turns out? She was six MONTHS old. She joined the litter we were fostering at the time – the Brady Bunch kittens – and we named her Alice to go along with the theme.

The vet who examined her told me that Alice was just a small cat, that she’d likely never be more than 7 pounds or so. (HA)
When the rest of the Brady Bunch litter went to Petsmart, Alice went with them. She was only there about 24 hours, because Fred missed her (and he was taken with the idea of having a tiny cat, HA HA), so we went and got her and brought her home.

She now weighs between 10 and 11 pounds, depending on the time of year, which continues to amuse me to no end.

Owen doesn’t quite dare to make the leap (wouldn’t have to be more than a big reach, really) from the scratcher to the cat bed… but Patsy figures it out!

Lilia’s getting her blep on.

Nolan the mighty mighty hunter caught himself a rabbit, and he’s dragging it back to his lair.

Nolan’s all “You again?”

The Forgotten Felines of Huntsville (that’s the rescue I foster for) online auction is now up and running – it goes from now until next Saturday (the 16th) at 7 PM Central Time! Go check it out and please outbid Lilia… no one told her that’s not a real roll of cash, and I don’t wanna break her heart.

Name: Khal Drogo
Nickname: Floomp, Floompy
Date of birth (guesstimated) : May 12, 2014 (that makes him 11 years old)
Loves: Fred, me, Charlie, being petted, and LOVE LOVE LOVES being brushed.
Tolerates: Alice
Dislikes: Fosters and strangers. And LOATHES Rocco.
Khal showed up on our property the first time in 2015. He was extremely skittish and the moment he spotted either of us, he was ::VROOM:: gone. He was around for a while and then disappeared – we assumed he’d either gone back from whence he came, or had been caught by a predator.

Then in 2016, he showed up again. This time he stuck around and Fred got serious about taming him. It took several months, but finally Khal allowed Fred to pet him, and then he was around all the time. We eventually were able to get him into a carrier and to the vet to be neutered and tested. It turned out that he’s FIV positive but otherwise healthy. He tends to be a little more susceptible to upper respiratory infections, but responds to treatment and is doing great.

It took about another year for him to decide I’m okay, and now all I have to do is sit down on the floor and talk to him, and he comes right over to me. He loves being petted, tolerates being kissed, and adores being brushed. And he’s beeeyoootiful! He and Charlie are the best of friends and he’s fine with Alice, mostly ignores her.

He weighs about 13 1/2 pounds.

Owen and Nolan have discovered the spaceship. I was waiting and waiting for them to tussle, but they just looked at me like “What?”

Name: Charles (Prince of Wails)
Nickname: Charlie, Chuckles
Date of birth (guesstimated) : May 2, 2020 (that makes him 5 years old)
Loves: KHAL (he adores Khal) Fred, me, being brushed, wandering around the back yard, keeping an eye on the world through the fence
Tolerates: foster kittens (but he tends to play too roughly with them)
Dislikes: Strangers and adult cats other than Khal. I don’t know that he actually dislikes Alice, but he chases her, and she does NOT care for that
Charlie came to us in July 2020 as Aramis, one of the Mewsketeers kittens. He was a sweetheart who was good friends with his foster siblings. We had no intention of making him a permanent resident, but as his foster siblings were adopted and I faced the idea that he might have to go to Petsmart alone, he suddenly seemed like he might be permanent resident material.

He got along really well with not only his foster siblings, but also the permanent residents. The clincher was (in 2020) when he walked toward Alice – who finds kittens somewhat terrifying – and when she hissed quietly at him, he changed direction and avoided her.

(Unfortunately he no longer listens to her signals and occasionally chases her, which she does not care for at ALL.)

He purrs so hard sometimes that it sounds like a cricket singing. His name was nearly “Jiminy” because of that cricket purr, but the day I was in the foster room and he sat outside the door and wailed and wailed to come in, I decided his name should be “Charles, Prince of Wails” – Charlie for short.

He weighs about 21 pounds now.

Owen, Patsy and Nolan are still getting formula 3 times a day because they’re juuust starting to eat solid food. They love their bottle (syringe), and I love their wiggly ears. (Only Owen’s wiggly ears are featured in this video, because I need both hands to feed Patsy, as she’s easily distracted. And Nolan needs both hands as well!)

Lilia is a lapcat, if you were curious.

Nolan’s feelin’ sassy, and Lilia shows him who the boss is!

🎉 Former fosters Emmylou (formerly Matilda) and Arlo (Nigel)! Bethany says: “Emmylou watching her show (mouse video), blepping with her new brother Wesley, and me and Arlo holding hands because we love each other.” How absolutely ADORABLE is that! (Thanks, Bethany!)

Good night innernets. (Patsy)

Nolan’s coloring is so interesting! Like a speckled tuxie cat! Do you think his fur will stay that way or will he grow out of it?
