In case you ever wondered what Matilda’s belly looks like – or the roof of her mouth.
Nigel says “Shhh. I almost had a thought and then it got away. Maybe if we’re very quiet, it’ll come back.”
Unfortunately, I think the thought got away. (Again.) Sebastian climbs in to join Nigel and Matilda. You might think he wanted a cuddle, but no. He wanted to bite Matilda (who, I must say, put up with it quite well.)
Then Nigel and Matilda left, and Sebastian rolled around in my lap with the stuffed bunny.
It’s a Nigel in a box, wondering where that thought went.
Monty, wrestling with the bed. As you do.
Sebastian, wrestling with Baby Frog.
“NO, MATILDA, THIS IS MY BABY FROG YOU CAN’T HAVE HIM!”
Hazel, coming down from the Adirondack chair atop the collapsed cube. Listen, that cube is cute but it collapses WAY too easily, which I find annoying. Also, the kittens managed to rip a hole in it near one of the seams, so that cube is not long for this room.
Margarita in a rare still moment. (I feel like this picture perfectly illustrates why Fred calls her “Eyeballs.”)(She has one million nicknames.)
From the safety of his pie, Sebastian watches Matilda and Benji, takes notes on how to properly fight with the other kittens.
Over the weekend, Sebastian reached two milestones: he started eating solid food on his own, and he is now over 1 pound (0.45 kg)! (This, by the way, is a perfectly normal weight for a 5 week old kitten!) He’s not on all solid food yet – he’s still getting a supplemental bottle several times a day – and he’s still spending his nights downstairs in his playpen, but in the next few days I’m going to let him stay in the foster room overnight and see how he does. He should be fine – he’s spent the last several days in the foster room all day, and he’s perfectly comfortable in there. He’s been playing with the big kittens, and while there has been no sleepy snuggling, I feel like it’s only a matter of time.
Monty, Benji and Matilda are now 10 weeks old, and Nigel and Hazel will be 10 weeks old in a few days. They’re scheduled for their spay/neuters on June 16th – so Forgotten Felines is now accepting applications for them. Email Forgotten Felines of Huntsville at info (at) ffhsv.org to inquire. Margarita and Sebastian are not technically available yet – they aren’t going for their spay/neuter until July 23rd – but if someone wanted to adopt one of the older kittens and one of the younger ones AND were willing to wait until the end of July to get them, I’m sure that could be arranged.
(I’ll be posting profiles of each kitten on social media today, which you’ll see here tomorrow.)

“Yeah, I know you’re there, lady,” says Alice. “But I ain’t lookin’ at you.”

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr/ Bluesky) this weekend.
It’s a Matilda-Margarita pie! (My favorite!) I love the difference in their eye colors.
Monty was ready for Nigel to put the ol’ chomperoo on him and he was going to respond with the ol’ slapperoo. But they both got distracted (as they do) and nothing ever happened.

Matilda in her space ship, chasing her tail, batting at a spot on the wall, chasing her tail again, and fighting off all invaders. (If you look on the other side of the Fruitasan (hanging basket chair), you’ll see Sebastian watching and then slowly falling asleep. He didn’t want to miss anything!)
Monty was taking a bath, and Sebastian was taking notes. “So THAT’s how you stay so clean!”
Benji says “Can’t a guy be utterly adorable and sharpen his claws on the cat tree LIKE WE’RE SUPPOSED TO without you taking his ding dang picture all the time?!”
Matilda is potato-shaped, if you hadn’t noticed.
Former foster Amber (Ambercup, 2015) was all “Go ‘way, I don’t wanna move!” when Debra wanted to close up her sewing room. (Thanks, Debra!)

Sebastian’s gettin’ sassy, first with Hazel and then with Margarita.
What a difference 4 weeks makes – talk about a glow-up. Margarita’s fur is soft and plush, she no longer wears her food, and while she’s still little, she’s gaining weight well. For a kitten I wasn’t sure was going to make it when I got her, she’s doing amazing!

Hazel finds a bug, then loses it. But never fear… Nigel is here to “help”!
Hazel encourages Sebastian to “Just hush up for a minute, kid. I’m trying to listen to the Bob and Sheri podcast.” She’s a fan.
Rabbit rabbit rabbit. 🐰 (Matilda) From Wikipedia: “Rabbit rabbit rabbit” is a superstition found in Britain and North America wherein a person says or repeats the words “rabbit”, “rabbits” and/or “white rabbits” aloud upon waking on the first day of a month, to ensure good luck for the rest of it.
Former foster Pippin (formerly Carmy) is looking SO grown up! (Thanks, Sharon!)

Nigel and Hazel have a sweet moment in my lap. See? They CAN be sweet to each other… they just usually choose NOT to be.
Benji gives Sebastian the ol’ lickeroo. It takes a village to keep that little guy clean.

Matilda does some sideways skittering, everyone else is super rambunctious, and Sebastian is PRETTY SURE there should be a bottle in his mouth.
Monty’s in his spaceship, waiting for the mother ship to call him home. Beep boop!
Good night innernets. (Monty and Nigel, with a Margarita photobomb)
