“What you want, lady?”

“Ooh yeah, that’s the spot!”

“That is not a flattering angle, lady.”

“Just checking things out.”

I mentioned this on social media yesterday: as of yesterday, Canasta’s been with us for 28 days (joined us on January 10th). That makes her the mama who has now made us wait the longest for kittens EXCEPT for Margeaux (who had her kittens 43 days after she came to us – but of course, we didn’t know she was pregnant when we got her, either.) Nothing about her behavior (especially her voracious appetite) makes me think that kittens are coming soon – but I’ve certainly been surprised before. If anything changes, you know I’ll report it!

Oh, that Khal. He is… what’s the word… MAGNIFICENT.

An exciting thing that happened over the weekend – someone sent us a cat DNA test kit for Khal, so we get to find out exactly what his genetic background is! Fred took the swab and ran it around the inside of Khal’s mouth yesterday morning (I didn’t expect Khal to put up with that very well, but he actually just sat there like “What…?”) and it’ll go out in the mail today. Then we’ll get the results in 4-6 weeks. I can’t wait! (And of course I’ll let y’all know the results just as soon as I know ’em!)

Cool, a DNA kit! I’ve been wanting to do that now that they are becoming more reasonable in price but wasn’t sure. I think you’ve just cinched it for me. Sometimes knowing the mix can help solve some problems. That, and, well, it’s fun to know!

I love that on this day in 2019 you mentioned wanting to do a DNA test for Khal and two years later, voila! I look forward to learning the results!

OK – I am predicting Valentine’s Day kittens!

That’s really funny that it worked out like that! I’ve been occasionally debating buying a test kit; I’m kind of glad the decision was made for me, I coulda dithered forever. 🙂

That facebook video of Canasta playing with Charlie’s tail cracked me up so much. The flirty whappy paw of doom. Love it.

Poor Canasta, lol, all those flattering shots of her! OK little dudes, it has GOT to be getting crowded in there…

Ooo, cat DNA kit! That is so cool!

Anyone who follows The Kitten Lady knows about Mama Colette the potbellied pig (aka Mamadoo) and the anxious wait for piglets. Hopefully Canasta won’t get THAT big!

I’m dying to know Khal’s results because my Moriarty looks so much like him and I haven’t wanted to spring for a DNA test.

I REALLY feel Canasta’s Monday morning face.

Ooh! I’m going to guess the magnificent flooftastic Khal is a Norwegian forest cat, or maaaaybe a Maine coon. Aren’t they related? And hey Robyn, do superpowers show up in DNA? 🙂 I kid, and you know what about, but I still love the idea of super!Khal.

Jeez, Canasta has outdone even Kristi on the waiting for kittens front. I don’t know whether to be impressed or sympathetic!

My fave part of the whappy paw vid was when she flopped the toy too close to him and somehow that was his fault. My kid brother has often accused me of exactly this sort of thing.

Khal DNA guess: Carpathian Mountain Cat. That’s why he disappeared for a year at first – you have to welcome them in explicitly…
