There were a few questions about the wreath pictures. This is what the setup looks like (that’s ChaCha peeking out.)
It’s a piece of wood mounted to the front of a heavy duty large moving box, and a hole in the center of the wood and the box. There’s a screw above the hole, making it simple for me switch out the wreath. This box setup is new – until now, I’ve bought a moving box each year, mounted a piece of posterboard on the front, and then used wire to mount the wreath to the front. Changing out the wreaths was a huge pain, and so I asked Fred to make something for me to make the whole thing simpler. I was thinking of a collapsible wooden box with the piece of white wood mounted to the front, but ultimately that was going to be way too heavy, so cardboard it is (it’s still pretty heavy). It works well!
I use a tripod for my phone, a bluetooth shutter remote, and there’s a photography light just to the right. It ain’t pretty, but it works really well.
How do I get the cats to stick their heads out? Churu and a feather teaser, of course. How do I get them to STAY in there? I don’t. They can jump out the front (through the center of the wreath) if they want to, and I think it took three tries with ChaCha before I got a decent shot. I really only need to get one good shot to make it all worth it. (I think I took about 30 pictures to get the final product.)

Whiskey’s got a toy. (I love his markings. He’s like the brown tabby version of Mambo and Tango.)

A tisket, a tasket, a Spritzy in a basket.

Is there a feather teaser up there? You know it! (Whiskey)

Whiskey was about to give Reese the ol’ chomperoo, and she gave me this look as if to say “He’s gonna regret this.”

This is the first time I’ve noticed that super long mutant whisker sticking off to the side. (Mimosa)

Please admire Fizz’s pretty eyes. This whole bunch has really pretty eyes!

While we’re talking about eyes, this is what Reverb’s eyes look like. When he came to Forgotten Felines a few months ago, his eyes were very infected. They’re much better now, but they’re permanently cloudy. He can definitely see, though probably not as well as your average cat, but it doesn’t slow him down in the slightest. He’s definitely feeling better – he’s been coming out and playing, and swiped at a feather teaser the other day.
This whole bunch of kittens gets along REALLY well with each other. There’s no tension between them, they’re always playing together, cuddling, or just checking in with each other.

Alice got caught up in a thought loop and forgot what she was doing. (Can relate.)

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr/ Bluesky) this weekend.

🎉 Former fosters! Pretty Meander hanging out with the pretty dishes, taking a nap with her One True Love Angus, Mollie (Millinocket, 2018) finding the basket of napkins a suitably comfy place to hang out… and Rupert (Richie, 2024) agrees, napkins are comfy! (Thanks, Sharon!)

Rum says “Whatcha doin’, lady?” This boy has such pretty eyes!

Just hanging out with the kittens. Fizz LOVES the other kittens so much, Whiskey is just a big ol’ flirt, and Rum is a lovebug. Also, Reverb’s hanging out with us, which is nice to see.

🎉 Former foster Khaleesi (2013!) Alton said: “I found Khaleesi post-breakfast napping. I think there’s a cat in the somewhere.” What an adorable cinnamon bun! (Thanks, Alton!)

🎉 Former fosters Dahlia (formerly Hazel; torbie) and Cosmos (Monty; black) had an adorably snuggly Christmas Day. (Thanks Tabatha!)

🎉 Former fosters Maverick (formerly Tango), and Carmelita (Sashay) (Carmelita pie! My favorite!) had a wonderful Christmas Day, I reckon. 😻 (Thanks Mike!)

🎉 Former fosters Fancy (formerly Flamenco) and Mambo fit perfectly in that pie plate together. (And do we love a Fancy-Mambo pie? You know we do!) (Thanks, Fred/Lisa!)

Good night innernets. (Whiskey)

Reese is a big, BIG fan of the feather teaser.

Reverb’s keepin’ those claws sharp. You never know when the ol’ slapperoo is called for, after all. (I joke – Reverb is the sweetest, most mild-mannered cat on the planet.)

A little quiet time, a little playing. This is a pretty chill bunch, but I can hear them playing occasionally, so it DOES get rowdy in there, just apparently not during the times I’m in there.

Rum is his name, and dangling his front paws over whatever he’s lying in/on is his game.

Spritz is all “Watchin’ you, lady.” (‘Cause someone’s gotta.)

Whiskey is still skeptical of me, but he’s decided he’ll allow petting. He has the softest, silkiest fur.

Good night innernets. (Mimosa & Reese)

Here’s your cheat sheet! I feel like it’s easy to tell everyone BUT Spritz and Mimosa apart. The biggest difference between Spritz and Mimosa are (1) they both have dark marks at the inner corners of their eyes, but Mimosa’s are darker and more prominent. (2) They both have white socks on their front feet, but Spritz’s left white sock is shorter. (3) Not that you can see it, but Spritz is wearing a purple collar.
To answer questions that have been asked: Yes, they were all spayed/neutered before they came to me. Rum, Fizz, Spritz, Mimosa and Whiskey all came from the same place – a hoarding situation – and there’s definitely some familial connection there. Reverb and Reese came from other places – Reese from a trailer park, and Reverb from somewhere in Tennessee.
Rum, Fizz, Spritz and Mimosa have a guesstimated date of birth of 6-26-25, Whiskey of 8-7-25, Reese of 7-23-25, and Reverb of 4-13-25.

Fizz says “MINE. You no touch, lady.”

Mimosa says “Oh. I’m sorry. You tawkin’ to ME?!” (We know this is Mimosa because the marks at the inner corners of her eyes are darker/more prominent than Spritz’s, and she has a long white sock on her left front leg (Spritz’s is shorter.)

The kittens playing (they love it when I toss the ping pong balls.) It was lovely to see Reverb playing, he’s obviously starting to feel better! (Rum isn’t in this video, because he was on the cat tree snoozing.)

Reverb’s keeping an eye (both eyes, really) on those other kittens. He knows trouble when he sees it.

Good night innernets. (Reese, who is SOUND asleep.)

That wreath setup is awesome. I bet you could also get children’s inflatable swim rings to achieve a similar picture for summer, 4th. July if you wanted to. You always take awesome pics.
The “Watchin’ you, lady” kitty is Whiskey, not Spritz. The pic above it is Spritz, not Whiskey.
Love all the former foster pics! So happy they’re home for the holidays!
Actually, I somehow swapped the captions on that picture and the one below. It’s fixed now, thanks for letting me know!
It’s cool seeing behind the scenes. Thanks for giving us the deets.
