Last week I was excited to find that Mambo (right) had a freckle on his nose. I wiped at it with a damp cloth, and it STAYED there, and so I just ASSUMED it was a permanent freckle.

Turns out? I don’t know. It seems really, really faint now, and you can’t always see it. I’ve never in my entire fostering career had SO MUCH TROUBLE telling two kittens apart. So you know what that means.

Collar time! Tango’s is green, Mambo’s is blue. (Think: TanG(reen)o and MamB(lue)o.)

I love when I catch all four kittens together. It’d be nice if all four of them looked at me but, y’know, I’ll take what I can get.

Flamenco in the basket with a pink floofy ball.

Sashay coming through the tunnel, disappointed to find out that it’s still the same ol’ foster room.

ChaCha’s figuring out the track toy, and teaching Flamenco in the process.

“How’d the ball get over THERE?!”

“And now it’s THERE. Fascinating!”

Mambo in the Fruitasan, rockin’ that blue collar.

Sleepy Tango.

And another shot of all 4, this time lookin’ grumpy. Tango in the back, and Flamenco, Sashay and Mambo across the front.

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr/ Bluesky) this weekend.

ChaCha went for her spay surgery yesterday, and all went well! When we got back here, the boys both sniffed her and said “MAMA SMELLS FUNNY,” but the girls were just “Yeah, that’s mama. Whatever.” She took a long nap on the cat tree (where the kittens couldn’t get to her), ate a big lunch, and then woke up the kittens for a bath.

She’s not ready to be adopted yet – her kittens are only 5 1/2 weeks old, they need her for a bit longer – but if you’re interested in adopting her and don’t mind a wait, you can email Forgotten Felines of Huntsville at info (at) ffhsv.org to inquire. (She’s 2 years old, sweet as pie, and has recently started to be a bit more playful. We are located in the Huntsville, Alabama area; out of area adoptions are allowed, but adopters must come here to complete the adoption.)

Turns out there are a lot of Da BAYbees in this bunch. As I suspected! (Sorry about the high pitch of my baby talk and how MUCH of it there is. I guess maybe I’m Da BAYbee too.)

Now we’re eating solid food! The boys dive right in when I put them in front of the plate of food, but with the girls I have to put a little food in their mouths, and then they remember “Oh, right – we like this!” and start eating.

ChaCha, Tango, Sashay and Flamenco are waiting patiently for their lunch. (Mambo’s off doing important Mambo things. You know how he is.)

Tango and Flamenco play follow the leader. And then Tango gives us a cute little pounce at the very end!

I love how Sashay is using that toy to prop up her leg for comfier bathing.

Tango’s getting his pounce on.

Good night innernets. (Mambo)

Tango gives Mambo’s ears the ol’ chomperoo, and then is appalled when I tell him to stop biting his brother’s ears.

Little slackers. Across the top: Sashay, Mambo and Flamenco. Stretching across the bottom: Tango.

Skitterbugs, hippity hops and pounces – oh, my!

Flamenco has a little of the ol’ existential angst.

Flamenco wanders around the room showing off her jumping and running skills, and then tries to start somethin’ with Tango.

Sashay says “Look! My paw is almost as big as mama’s!” Sure is, kid.

A Tango and his shrimp toy, hanging out under the Adirondack chair.

Good night innernets. (Sashay on the left, Flamenco on top, Mambo in the middle, and Tango with his back to the camera.)

Couch potatoes. (From left: Mambo, Sashay, Flamenco with the crazy eyes, and Tango)

Sashay and Mambo in the Fruitasan, Tango snoozing on the bed. They’re having a quiet morning. (I think Flamenco is off harassing her mama.)

The kittens are full of hippity hops and skitterbugs today!

Sashay in the Adirondack chair looking CUTE (as always!)

YouTube link
The kittens show off their skills – Flamenco shows off her leap, Tango shows off his somersault, and Mambo shows off his pounce.

(Permanent resident) Charlie had to go to the vet recently for his yearly checkup, and I was in the foster room when Fred put him in the carrier. Charlie does NOT like being in the carrier, and he started up with those back-of-the-throat, really DEEP howls, and it had ChaCha so concerned that she went and looked in the mirror like it was a window and she’d be able to see what was going on. Sashay and Flamenco half floofed at the scary noises. (Charlie’s vet visit went fine, he’s in good shape.)

Just a Flamenco and her Baby Frog, having a moment.

Good night innernets. (From left: Tango, Sashay, Mambo & Flamenco)

ADDITIONALLY

If you’re not on Instagram or Facebook, you wouldn’t have seen these pictures that Keeping Tabbies (who adopted Elfie (formerly Margeaux) and Neko (formerly Katriane) posted. Anita and Becky – adopters of Esmeralda, Reggie (formerly Luc), Frannie and Nacho – are her friends, and she was visiting recently, and posted these pics. (You should be able to scroll through them.)

Also, she posted this several weeks back (before they adopted Esmeralda), which I meant to share and then the thought left my head as soon as it meandered from one side of my brain to the other.

And while I’m sharing some of her posts, admire Elfie and Neko and the fresh catnip.

Who here remembers the theme song of the Patty Duke Show in the Sixies? It could be applied to Mambo and Tango -with one small word change (from cousins to brothers):
    They look alike,
    They laugh alike,
At times they even talk alike,
    You could lose your mind!
When cousins are two of a kind!!
(my apologies if I got a word or two wrong on this-it has been some 60+ years!)

Is it possible that the boys are actually identical twins? Is that a thing that happens? Love all the cuteness either way!

I can’t tell them apart either, so I just mentally refer to them as Mango (Mambo + Tango = Mango!)
