Lizzy the basket kitten. They just LOVE this basket. I tried putting a small bed in the bottom, but nope. They don’t need no stinkin’ bed.


Lita in the sun. I have no idea when this picture was taken. Sometime in 1999, probably, since that’s the last time we saw the sun (at least, that’s how it FEELS.)


“I think she’s thinking about putting another bed in this basket. I hope you guys are ready to help me pull it out and drag it across the room if she does.”

When she’s done playing with that dangling sparkly ball, Molly’s going to jump on the playset ’til it collapses. Then she’s gonna drag it into the closet, because that’s how she rolls.

Oh look, it’s the Molly show. The girls gather ’round and watch Molly dance. She’s such a little show-off.


I keep forgetting to point out to y’all that Pat is a gorgeous house panther with strikingly beautiful eyes, don’t I?


Basket full o’ smug. “I lays here so you can’t put no dumb bed in the bottom. Basket don’t need no bed, lady. Silly lady.”

The girls are off to Petsmart this evening. Keep your fingers crossed that Molly doesn’t revert to her super feral ways, won’t you? She’s the one I’m most worried about. She’s going to be in a cage with Lita and Stevie (Lizzy and Pat will be in a cage together, because they’ve become really good friends.) Hopefully they’ll all adjust quickly – or get adopted really fast, so they don’t have to adjust!

I bought a Hexbug Nano Robotic Cat toy last month, because that’s the sort of toy that’s right up my alley.

Edited to add: Kar mentioned in the comments that she found the same toy on sale at Target for $1.48! Now that she mentioned it, I think I actually got mine at Target, too – so give it a try! Can’t beat that price.

I finally got around to taking it out of the package to see what the girls would think of it, and they thought it was REALLY interesting. Actually, they think it’s so interesting that they’ll play with it even if it isn’t turned on. Last night, I took a quick video of them chasing it around.

That is, indeed, Uncle Dennis. He’s not sure what he thinks of the Hexbug toy, but he’s certainly interested. It’s kind of amazing just how fast that thing moves! (It had a tail on it, but I might have accidentally vacuumed the tail of the toy up last week. Doesn’t stop the girls from thinking it’s a fabulous toy, though!)

    1. No, they don’t travel at all on carpet – they just lay there and vibrate, which the kittens found pretty fascinating, too! 🙂

  3. So, I watched the video three times before I realized you meant Dennis and not some human or doggy was in the video. Doh. I might have to check out on of those toys for our furbots. It will probably last 2 minutes before it is under furniture and the dopes will just stare and cry.

  4. I will miss this group but I’m sure the next group will be just as fabulous! We haven’t seen much of the sun since 1999 either LOL!
    Hey-can some (non-lazy) kind soul find the link to the playset for me? I could search but then I would get sucked into the cute kitty black hole and I REALLY have to get the grocery shopping done today. K-thanks!

  5. Why is it that silver tabbies always seem to have a case of the smugs? At the cat café in Montreal, there was one darling silver tabby (who looked a lot like Caitlyn), and she was just full of the smugs!

      1. My silver tabby (with white) wonders if that question is incorrectly phrased. Surely it should read, he says, “Why in the world wouldn’t silver tabbies be smug?”

  7. Aw, I just read yesterday’s post and I hadn’t realized that Terry had a brother that was returned at the same time. I feel bad for separating them. 🙁

    1. I may not have mentioned it at the time – I actually think that they were returned a few weeks apart, I’m not sure. You didn’t separate them, though – Trick had gone to Petsmart almost as soon as he came back. I think they’ll be fine. It certainly sounds like Terry’s doing great, and Trick is, too, he just needs his family to come along and find him.

      1. Well that’s a relief. I couldn’t bear the thought of those two boys missing each other. Terry is doing just fine. He loves fleece and is quite the biscuit maker when anyone is wearing it! 🙂

  8. I bought one of those hex bugs on clearance at Target last week for $1.48. Just sayin’ in case anyone wants to hit up their local Targets. They still had quite a few at BOTH Targets I was at this week (of course, not in every area of the country, but at least in Philly). My boys love it and will also play with it when it’s not on. (Mine has a furry tale.)

  11. I’m so far behind in my reading, that I’m just getting to this now. It was so bitter sweet to see the picture of Corbie on here with your comment about going to go kiss him. I hope you did.. I imagine you had a nice good cuddle with him too, and you are glad for that..
