Zelda conveys so much attitude with just the slightest head tilt.

Jay and Zelda pose, while Nick and Myrtle have a snooze.

Well, something has Nick’s attention!

Myrtle’s little pink toes in the air just kill me.

While Zelda watches, Nick gives Jay the ol’ smackeroo (and Myrtle’s off in her own world).

Jay hates it when he’s the only one awake.

Nick just needs lots and lots of kisses. (He’s not sure what he thinks about kisses, but he’ll learn to like them, OH YES HE WILL.)

We have a lights (barely) on, no one home situation going on here with Zelda.

“This discussion doesn’t involve you, lady.”

Ooh, big stretch for Jay!

Myrtle’s little face is JUST. SO. SERIOUS!

3 of the kittens have made the occasional trip outside of the crate, but as fast as they come out, they go right back in. Nick has made zero trips outside the crate yet – I wonder if he’ll be the kitten who never returns to the crate once he leaves. I’m really ready for these kittens to leave the crate and do some exploring – but I guess they’ll do things in their own time!

In case you’re new here or haven’t been around in a while: Trixie and Rocco have taken up residence on our front porch. They belong to someone in the neighborhood (we’re not sure who), and no – we are not planning to bring them inside and make them 100% ours because Charlie LOATHES Rocco. They have been spayed/neutered (edited to add: we had them spayed/neutered, I meant to say) and vaccinated (generally speaking, if someone doesn’t spay/neuter their cat, they likely don’t keep their vaccinations up to date, so we took on that responsibility) and if there’s bad weather expected, we set them up in the garage with beds, food and a litter box.

I know it’s hard to see what’s going on here, but if you look at the center of the picture, you’ll see Trixie sitting in the tree in the front yard. She and Rocco like to occasionally hang out in that tree, though they don’t usually go quite that high!

Rocco got a trip to the vet last week for an abscess on his hip. We worried about how he’d handle it – he’s very strong and doesn’t like to be carried, and we weren’t sure how he’d deal with strangers. Turns out? Aside from peeing in the crate (which you can’t really blame him for; if a guy’s gotta go, he’s gotta go) he was perfectly fine. He got some antibiotics and is doing well.

Line ’em up! From left: Myrtle, Zelda, Nick and Jay. So much attitude in one short row.

I’m watchin’ Myrtle, Myrtle’s watchin’ me. I think she’s cute; she thinks I’m weird and maybe a little obsessed.

Myrtle’s got the hiccups, Jay’s cleaning his paw, and everyone’s kinda sleepy. Just another morning in the crate!

Nick has his paws properly crossed because he’s got MANNERS, thank you.

Myrtle escapes the crate – FINALLY! – but then goes back into the crate because that’s where the milk bar action is.

It does, indeed, look as though Zelda’s going to be a floofy medium-fur kitten; that explains the constant case of (very cute) bedhead she’s got going on.

The kittens had a long afternoon/evening nap and are starting to wake up. SO MANY YAWNS!

Good night innernets. (Nick)
