I just adopted a mama cat and took her to the Humane Society to get spayed. She will have to wear that awful cone for the next 2 weeks (she won’t, she gets it off of her faster than I can put it on). I never see any cats on this page with cones. Does the vet have a different procedure? What am I missing? Thank you
The vet we use uses surgical glue rather than stitches. We’ve never used a cone (or a post-surgery suit) and have never had an issue with kittens/cats messing with their incisions. It really all just depends on the vet.

So, Pita was supposed to go home this weekend, but she’ll be with us for a while longer. Something’s going on with her health-wise, and we need to figure it out. Yes, I am being intentionally vague – once we know what her diagnosis is, I’ll fill you in. Until then, just know that whatever it is, it isn’t life-threatening to her, and it isn’t transmittable to others. She’s a perfectly normal kitten – eating, playing, snuggling – there’s just this one weird thing going on, and we need to find out why before we send her home.
(Michelle has talked to the adopters, and they’re fine with waiting.)

Tala is SUCH a lapcat.
I know that Franc looks like he’s twice the size of Lira in this picture, but it’s the angle – they weigh almost exactly the same.

Pita visits the Hopalong Gang.

Skip says “I dunno, it seemed like the thing to do.”

Letting Pita into the foster room turned out to be a total nonevent as far as Meander goes. I thought for sure that the first time Pita hissed at a kitten, Meander would attack.
That didn’t happen. Pita slapped and hissed at Bolt, and Meander said “Yeah, he probably deserved that.” She’s been back in several times, and every time has been perfectly fine.

When Rocco wants to take a stroll through the house, he jumps up into this window and waits for someone (Fred) to let him in. Then he slowly walks the length of the house and goes back outside. Whatever floats your boat, Rocco.

The Hopalong Gang turned 6 weeks old yesterday! Here’s what they look like now, and here’s a closeup of those gorgeous eyes.
NOTE: Forgotten Felines of Huntsville (the rescue I foster for) does not accept applications on kittens before they’re 10 weeks old, so if you’re interested you’ve got 4 weeks before you can apply.
Bolt, Skip and Dillydally are getting their blep on. I thought it was Thlurrrpsday, but apparently I was wrong – it’s Blepsday!

Her own kittens aren’t the only ones who like to play with Meander’s tail!
If I’d known that Meander would be THIS calm about a strange kitten coming into the foster room and making her kittens hiss, I would have let Pita in days ago. She smacked the little kittens, made them hiss, made them put on their floof suits, and Meander was like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
