Robyn, I know you (and some readers) are always curious about cat genetics. I came across this article about orange cats and thought I would share it.
Thanks Holly, that’s pretty interesting!

Sebastian was walking across me, and was apparently hit with the sleepy stick. He flopped down like this and was out cold, one foot kicked back behind him. He’s a little goof.
I’ve noticed that Benji’s chewed-down whiskers are growing back in nicely. He’s going to have a nice set of whiskers once they’ve all grown in.
Margarita, annoyed because I’m late to nap time.
Benji has the MOST ridiculously long tail. He’s definitely hit his long and lanky stringbean stage.
Sebastian was biting my toes, so I picked him up and said “Stop that, you.” and he gave me this look. I don’t think he’s sorry.
Margarita checks out the view.
She has the sweetest little profile.

Thank you all so much for your kind words about Millie yesterday, I appreciate them so much.
Lilia and the remaining three kittens are doing really well. Lilia is still healing, but her appetite has picked up and she’s eating most of the canned food I bring in to her and I always like seeing a foster eat.
(I am ridiculously offended when a cat or kitten won’t eat. I mean… remember Sodapop? She was literally EATING GARBAGE when she was rescued off the street, and then she turned out to be SO PICKY. I found ONE canned food she would eat – which I had to get from Chewy – and she would only eat that halfheartedly. HOW DARE.)
All three patrons at the milk bar.
Owen (that’s him in the front) is like a little bear, and Nolan and Patsy are sleek and shiny like seals. I actually have a harder time telling Patsy and Nolan apart than Patsy and Owen. (If Nolan’s chin isn’t up and I can’t see his paws, I don’t see the white.)
On the other hand, I’m pretty sure this is Nolan, so maybe I won’t have a hard time telling them apart? (A girl can hope.)
From left: Owen, Patsy, Nolan.
Lilia in my lap, getting more petting.
I keep meaning to mention weights, and I need to get their weight spreadsheet up and running (hopefully by Monday), but for now I can tell you that Owen is the largest and has been from birth. He weighed 98 grams (3.46 oz) the day they were born, and weighed 152 g (5.36 oz) yesterday morning. Patsy is in the middle – she weighed 81 grams/2.86 oz the day they were born, and 134 g/4.73 oz yesterday. Smallest of the three is Nolan, who was 80 g/2.83 oz the day they were born, and 134 g/4.48 oz yesterday. The average weight for kittens at birth is 80 – 100 g, so these guys were solidly in the average category. The goal is for them to gain 10 – 15 g per day, and from Wednesday to Thursday they gained 24 g (Nolan), 20 g (Owen), and 19 g (Patsy.)
All of that is to say – they’re doing really well. (Before she gave birth, Lilia weighed 11.5 lbs/5.22 KG. I don’t know what she weighs now because I don’t want to lift her up and she prefers not to step on the scale, thank you, so her weigh-in will have to wait until some time in the future.
(And in case you’re curious, Millie weighed 91 g/3.2 oz at birth, and the last time I weighed her on Wednesday, she weighed 87 g/3.07 oz.)

Lilia and her kittens are doing well. The kittens are vigorous and easily confused, so I directed them toward the milk bar and they figured it out. (Note: that’s actually Owen, who I accidentally called Nolan, when I moved him back toward Lilia.)
Benji (top), Sebastian (left) and Margarita now have the run of the entire house during the day (they go into the foster room at night), and they’re having a good time. It took them no time at all to discover the big cat tree at the bottom of the stairs, and they like it quite a bit.

Wherein the very best toy is always juuuust out of reach. Sebastian’s chasing his tail (at one point he actually catches it), and Benji does NOT want to share his mouse (though ironically he left it behind when he ran across the room).
Lilia has eaten dinner (I refer to it as “restocking the milk bar”) and has returned to her duties. (Happy #Thlurrrpsday!)
Good night innernets. (Margarita & Sebastian. And good LORD, would you like at the size of that foot? He certainly doesn’t have those skinny toothpick legs he had when he was little, does he?)
