In case you missed it on social media yesterday…

We are adopting Reverb and Rum. (We still need to do the paperwork, and they need their last shots so it’s not official, but close enough.)
Their new names are Magoo (Reverb) and Milo (Rum).
The reasons for making them permanent residents, well, there are a few.
Both have medical issues – unrelated to FIP – that make them less adoptable, if not totally so. Magoo (Reverb) is FIV+, has the cloudy eyes, and has a sneezy, snotty thing going on that we’ve been unable to completely get rid of. Fortunately, it doesn’t affect his life at all, he eats well, he plays and is curious and sweet and friendly. (Side note: Khal is also FIV+ and FIV+ cats can live side by side with FIV- cats with no issues. It takes a deep wound to transfer FIV, and that hasn’t been an issue.)
Milo (Rum) has something medical going on (completely unrelated to FIP) that we are still figuring out. I’m not being coy – I just am not ready to share it until we know more, but ultimately it’s something rare and fixable. I’ll give details in the future once we know how/when we’ll be proceeding.
Secondly, they’ve been out in the house 24/7 for 2 – 3 weeks now, and they’re getting along okay with Charlie and Khal. Milo (Rum) occasionally annoys Charlie or Khal with his lack of personal space, but when they hiss or smack at him, he’s smart enough to understand and back off.
I was fine with Rum as a name, but Fred was adamantly opposed. Neither of us were fans of Reverb as a name. We went through approximately one million names before we settled on Magoo and Milo. They were ALMOST Doc and Marty (Back to the Future), and I tried very hard to convince Fred that we should name Milo Bug or Nibbles because he occasionally bites my feet – apparently my bare toes are irresistible – and I also pushed for Booboo because that’s what I tend to call him, but in the end I think Milo fits him well. Magoo was my suggestion, and I LOVE IT. (Magoo is from the cartoon Mr. Magoo, of course. Milo came from a brief consideration of naming them Milo and Otis – Milo fit Rum, but Otis didn’t fit Reverb, so Magoo he is.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hard to tell from this picture, but Magoo (Reverb) is outside and Milo (Rum) was trying to figure out how THAT happened.
(As permanent residents, we’ve started giving them supervised outside time.)
Fascinated by the big rock. (And I would like to point out that as SOON as I saw this picture, I went out and scrubbed that green gunk off the side of the shed in the background.)
Milo (Rum) sniffs Magoo’s (Reverb’s) paw to see where he’s been. (Please note the cleaned shed in the background.)
Khal on the table, Magoo (Reverb) in the chair.
Magoo (Reverb) hanging out with Charlie and Khal.
Milo (Rum) hanging out with Khal.
Charlie really fills up that couch.
Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr/ Bluesky/Threads) yesterday.
Brudders. (Reverb looks THRILLED, doesn’t he?)
You know the Rumdangle… here’s former foster Dahlia (formerly Hazel) with the Hazel stretch! (Thanks, Tabatha!)
And then there were four. The paperwork hasn’t been done yet, but we are adopting Rum and Reverb. (And they’ve gotten new names – Rum is Milo, Reverb is Magoo.)
Good night innernets. (Milo, formerly known as Rum. If you missed it, we are adopting Rum and Reverb, and they’ve gotten new names.)
I love this for them AND for you and Fred. WELCOME HOME, MILO AND MAGOO!!!! (“What’s new, Mr Magoo?”)
Congratulations Magoo and Milo! You’ve found the best home EVER!
This makes my heart so happy!! They could not have found better permanent homes! You and Fred have the biggest hearts and I’m here for it!
oooo that’s great. Hope you get Milos medical problem sorted soon
Congratulations! I hope their healing will accelerate as they begin to sense that they are in their forever home.
Congratulations all four of you or should that be all six of you or are Charlie and Khal, especially Charlie refusing to comment at the moment?
Love Mr Magoo, all pets I’ve had seem to get this as a nickname at some point.
Poor little Rum/ Milo hope it’s eventually quite simple.
Yay for everyone!!! Welcome home lucky boys – y’all have hit the jackpot!
And please tell me you are a Bob’s Burgers fan, because I heard Louise yelling “BooBoo!” in my head when you said that’s what you call Rum/Milo.
What good news to wake up to. I wondered about this permanent resident status when I saw the two cuddling up to Khal and going out onto your screened porch. I had never seen another foster do that before, but I make it a point never to ask if foster parents will adopt their fosters. It may not always be in the cards. I was getting sad thinking about missing a daily dangle pic. Now I won’t have to. Wonderful and Congratulations!
You have made me so happy with this wonderful news ! I had been so much hoping (and praying !) that you and Fred would decide that these lovely boys belonged with you. It was very clear that Rum and Reverb / Milo and Magoo already thought they were in their Forever Home and were just waiting for you guys to catch up ! They clearly love you dearly, feel so happy and secure, and I think it would have broken their little furry hearts if they had had to move somewhere else. And now that you have shared the info about their other health issues it makes it even clearer that Robyn and Fred’s is the home that is meant for them, as you are so wonderfully well equipped to provide them both with whatever on-going care they may need. They will be so happy with you, and I am certain they will bring you and Fred immeasurable joy over the coming years, as they are such sweet and adorable boys. And what a blessing for all of us that we will still have them in our lives through your lovely blog. I like the new names – especially Magoo, feeling lots of empathy as a high myope !
Hooray and congratulations! I’ve been hoping they would find their forever home soon, but didn’t imagine it would be with you guys! I hope Milo’s health gets sorted soon so you can get that worry off of your minds. My big question is: Will there be a new name for the Rum dangle? Is it now a Milo dangle?
Congrats! I wish all of you the best. It’s so nice to get your numbers back up. I KNOW you will never get as high as you have in the past though.
Congratulations to all of you!
I love the names! I’m glad I’ll be able to see them grow up!
I love the new names! And Milo and Magoo’s new (permanent) address. Here’s to lots of years of love and fun.
So glad you made the right decision. The boys did look so comfy with Khal and Charlie, and you’re so lucky to have all that male energy! I have four girls at home and I’m sure I don’t have to tell you what hell that brings…
I’m looking forward to hearing what’s going on with Milo. Medical mysteries intrigue me.
Wonderful news, I´m so happy ❤️
I’m really not surprised you adopted them, and I’m very glad too. They’re so utterly adorable. We have a cat who spends most of his time with us, who we call Magoo! He’s actually a neighbour’s cat, but, long story short, he spends most of his time with us. He’s a white Bengal with blue eyes and his vision is impaired; can’t judge distances and has tunnel vision. Luckily we live in a place where it’s very safe for him to go outdoors.
Looking forward to lots of Milodangles in the future!
Yay! I’m so happy for Milo and Magoo, and for you and Fred, too! You really needed to replenish the permanent resident population! 😉 I love the name Milo — it’s at the top of my “cat names” list — and it really suits this guy. But will he continue to rumdangle, or will he now milodangle? (I vote for rumdangle, sort of as a tribute to his past.)
Congratulations! Now there will be Milodangles. A new word to get used to.
Hooray, hooray for Magoo & Milo!! Enjoy your life at Crooked Acre, sweet boys!
Awwww, congratulations to everybody. When is the official Gotcha Day?
The photo with all 4 boys, see the look on Khal’s face, “Mama, is this a permanent situation?” 🙂 Yes it is. Congratulations!
I’m sure Rocco will be thrilled to hear the news too!
I’m looking forward to seeing Milo antics with the next batch of kittens. Here’s hoping his medical situation can be healed.
I’ve been hoping they could stay with you! They are clearly compatible with Khan and Charlie. And your household has seemed too small for the amount of love and care you show. This makes me happy! Thank you for loving them!
Congratulations to the whole happy family! A long time ago I found and adopted a kitten who also had a cloudy scared eye and a lot of snotty sneezes. She was my little angel. She’d occasionally need to be on antibiotics when the sinus infection would get bad, but other than that she was just fine! I know you and Fred will provide the best for both Milo and Magoo. They have truly won the lottery!
so hapy that both those wonderful boys are now permanent members of your household
Oh, this is making my heart so happy! Milo and Magoo are the luckiest, as are you and Fred. As I said on FB, your Permanent Resident population was getting dangerously low! And it looks like Khal and Charlie are tolerating the boys pretty well. Given their potential medical needs, I’m also really glad that they’ve landed somewhere they will get the attention they deserve. Hope you figure out Milo’s stuff soon and easily. Looking forward to many more years of Milo and Magoo!
yea!!!!!! I believe that my mum new that this wuzza gonna happen!
Can we still call if “rumdangling” tho? It just rolls off the tongue so well!
Congratulations on adding Milo and Magoo to your wonderful family! Looking forward to continuing features!
Funny you should mention Milo nibbling on your toes. One of my outside black kitties, Punkin, loves it when I pet him and will zig zag in front of me so I have to stop and pet him some more. If I continue my walk he will nibble on my toes! (I’m wearing flip flops)
I didn’t realize you were down to two cats! Yeah that needed fixed!!
Yaaayyyyyy!!!!!
