Hiroiro

Someone mentioned that the Emmy’s belly video was linked on Reddit recently, which I did know – the YouTube stats told me that – and I also found that a Japanese site, Hiroiro, linked it. Altogether, the Emmy’s belly video has gotten around 6,500 hits at this point, which is far more views than any other video I’ve posted has gotten.

I mean, it’s not MILLIONS of hits, but it does appear to have earned me about 51 cents in ad revenue on YouTube. SWEET.

Ok first, I love love love Princess Logie! I can’t wait to see what she looks like as she gets older.

My question though is: How do you swing “Da Bird” around to get them to jump so high?

I bought one yesterday for my mini panther, Lillith and while she loves it, I can’t see playing with it appropriately unless I’m in the middle of a field and have all the room in the world to swing it around!

We do usually swing it in the middle of a mostly-empty room. Though Fred will also swing it around so that the cats have to jump to the top of the couch to get it. As you can see in the picture, Sugarbutt had to jump up on the table where the TV is to get it!

We don’t have scads of room but I can still get some spactacular leaps out of Leo by swinging it a little ways close to the floor then going almost straight up, he usually follows!

I read your blog everyday ( for over 2 years now) to get my ‘kitten fix’. I really miss having little ones around, but am not in a position to have any more. I’m at the age where 2 or 3 of the six cats I have now might very well out live me. The thought of them having to be re-homed or end up in a shelter scares the hell out of me.
It’s so awesome what you & Fred do for these homeless kittens. I could not do what you do. I would be a complete foster-failure in very short order.
I hope everything continues to go well for Emmy & the Babies.

Please keep up the good work.

Catdad, even though I only have two oldsters, I had the same fear of them outliving me. I don’t want my beloved furballs to end up scared out of their minds at a shelter only to be ‘euthanized’ for it! Even being in a caring rescue home would freak them out too much!!

So, I’ve arranged for one of my cat-loving sisters to take them if the worst happens. That arrangement and directions to some money I’ve set aside for transport are in my will. As a result, that fear is completely gone. It’s quite a relief!!

I’d recommend everybody doing something similar since the anxiety relief is great and it does make sure more cats don’t end up scared out of their minds in a shelter somewhere!!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you, Sugarbutt!

I haven’t been around kittens this small since I was a teenager. I had forgotten that even when they are this little, they play and “rassle” with each other. So cute!

I’m thinking that Razzie would weigh exactly the same as the twins if it wasn’t for that missing 1/8th of an ounce of tail! MOL
Happy St. Patrick’s Day Sugarbutt! And the rest of you, kitties and humans and chickens and ducks and doggies!

HA – I bet you’re right, she’ll always be the smallest ’cause of her lack of tail. ๐Ÿ™‚

The little expressions on their faces. Oh man. Each picture I’m all “that’s it, she’s/he’s my favourite!” and then I scroll down and see the next one. What an adorable little group of monkey-kittens they are.

Thanks for the kitten pics and progress report, Robyn!! It’s quite a treat to get a Crooked Acres kitten fix on the weekend!!

Please make sure fame doesn’t go to your head and whatever you do, don’t spend that 51ยข all in one place!!

    1. admin says:

I just can’t decide where to spend it! Luckily, YouTube doesn’t distribute the money ’til there’s $100 on the account, so I’m thinking I should get a check sometime in the 2020s. I have time to decide where to spend it! ๐Ÿ™‚

When do kitten ears start migrating to the top of their heads? Right now they seem roughly parallel to their eyes.

    1. notemily says:
      March 18, 2012 at 10:13 pm

I’d say about four weeks of age, but I’ve only had one litter that was young enough to go through that phase.

  14. Connie says:
    March 17, 2012 at 10:30 pm

Well it is official, the kittens at my house are BRUTES!! I weighed them the other day and they were 13 oz.. Miriam is 11 – which is a little more where I think they should be at this stage… Their dad must have been massive!!

Congrats on all the exposure. I have to say your linking to my blog has brought me more traffic then I’ve ever seen ๐Ÿ™‚ It is appreciated.

Oh, I miss my Oscar kitteh. He looked just like Sugarbutt, and we lost him just after Christmas, 2010.

I love that the Noms are getting big enough to “tussle!”
