Today I feel lazy, so because it is the DAY OF ME, whereupon I turn 44. I said to Fred over the weekend “I can’t believe I’m almost 43.” He said “Oh, are you staying at 43?”, and I had to do the MATH to figure out how old I really am. When I was a kid and old people (44 was ancient to me back then. Now it seems REALLY YOUNG. Shaddup.) had to stop and think about how old they were, I figured they were messing with me, because who on EARTH doesn’t know how old they are. Yeah.

Anyway, I’m going to go settle on the couch and catch up on my TV-watching, and not do a thing all day long because it’s MY DAY and it’s all about ME. (At least until I get bored, of course. I might vacuum. We’ll see.)

Also, so you don’t have to go without your kitteh fix, here I am getting my very first kitten for my (I think) sixth birthday, so it was mumblety-mumble years ago. I don’t know. I can’t do the math. Her name was Suzy and I lurved her.

    I turned 44 in September and I did exactly the same thing, thought I was turning 43..had to do the math..oh well, just a number, your only as old as you feel! 🙂

  20. Age is only important if you are a wine or a cheese. For the rest of us, it’s all in our heads. (And in my head, I am in my twenties until someone reminds me that I am not, then it’s all “How the h*ll did I get to be this old, anyway?!”)

  36. Awww. Adorable picture! Our family also got us my first little black kitten on my sixth birthday… am I going to end up just like you? Haha!

    On a related note (i.e., related to forgetting how old you are), I had this conversation with my husband last night:

    Husband: “So what do you want to do for your 36th next month?”
    Me (glaring): “I turn 35 — NOT — 36 next month.”
    Husband: “Oh right. I just keep rounding up and thinking I’m already 40, and I know you are five years younger, so I was doing the math.”

    As I told him, it’s fine if he wants to make HIMSELF older than he actually is, but he’d better leave me out of it.

  48. Happy Birthday! 44 is young!!!! (I’m so old that the kids I baby sat for as a teenager are now your age.) My first kitty was named Timmy, later renamed Rosemary (although he was definitely a male — long story!), but my first puppy was named Suzy, spelled exactly that way.

  50. Happy Birthday Robyn! I hope the kitties were sweet enough to entertain you all day. I would hate for you to feel bored enough to vacuum on your birthday. (Who am I kidding? I vacuum every day, birthday included, and I only have 3 furballs. Hopefully you’re not as neurotic as I am!)

Well, supposedly here in Oz white cats are adopted last! ‘cos of the increased skin cancer risk or some such nonsense. so there. and i have recently worked out the the USofA is actually bigger than Australia. can’t say i’m pleased…i always thought we had the greater land mass…hm!
