Not much to report on the Canasta front. Still hanging in there – still eating like crazy, still coming for snuggles. Still loving that bed in the window! All good. Oh actually, I can report: she doesn’t mind kisses. Might even like them!

When the foster room was accessible to everyone (before Pretzel and Peanut/Fritter went home and they were roaming around the house), Newt reminded me that he likes to sit in this window and judge the dog next door. Duly noted, Newt.
Speaking of Newt, the other night I was watching TV in bed, and a cat climbed into bed with me, settled at my feet, and purred like crazy. I assumed it was Charlie – wasn’t paying attention – only when I got up to put my phone away, I realized… it was Newt! Newt doesn’t snuggle, doesn’t sleep with me, doesn’t really want much from me unless it’s canned food (or more correctly, the can the canned food came in). Now here he was – he actually stayed with me for most of the night. I guess an old cat (he’s 15 now) can learn new tricks!

Canasta has the most expressive eyes!

Lol, Newt likes to sit by the window and judge the dog next door. Reminds me of my sweet Gandalf who would sit by the back doors and flip off my neighbour’s German Shepherd next door. Wow, Newt is 15?!
I cannot judge what’s going on in Newts head but from personal experience I can say that kitties really like sleeping with you when it’s cold. Not that I’m implying what was going on in his little head but just saying.
Love the idea of him cuddling and loving in his old age.
Sometimes in the summer I turn down the A/C at night, just to get kitty snuggles.

The senior cats can definitely surprise us with their new tricks. My Sophie is 19 and she gets bolder and more vocal with each passing year. It’s a treat to watch her, she used to be so timid and boy has that changed.

Every since Canasta showed up she’s reminded me of something/one.. I think I know what it is! She looks like she’s squinting a little and it reminds me of the eyelip kittens you had way back when, the ones who got surgery to move lip skin to their eye lids.(can’t think of their collective name off hand and am too lazy to look it up) She doesn’t have eyelid issues does she?
I think you are talking about the True Bloods, Andrea. This was before I joined the L&H lurking community 🙂 And yes, now that you mentioned it, I definitely can see the resemblance, too 🙂
