1/6/11 – Help needed!

1/6/11

Posted on January 6, 2011January 6, 2011 by Robyn

This here is what the holiday postcard I sent out looked like. Only, imagine that it says “Happy Holidays…” on it, and on the back “….and a grumpy New Year!”

That’s Jake, in a picture taken last year (as in, December 2009). I wanted to have the back say “…and a loony New Year!”, but Fred was afraid that no one would get it.

Jake only put up with being in that hat for about ten seconds before he took off racing madly around the house in a desperate attempt to get it off his head, but luckily I snapped the picture just before he took off.

I sent out 444 postcards this year, so I guess it’s a good thing I ordered 500 of them!

I did display the cards I received – stapled them to ribbons and strung them across the front room – but unfortunately didn’t get any pictures of that. So you can see the cards I received here.

Thank you so much, those of you who requested cards; sending out cards always puts me in the holiday spirit. I hope everyone who requested one received one, and if you haven’t yet, don’t give up hope. They’re on the way to you, I sent ’em myself, and I’m sure they’ll eventually get to you!

Sights from around Crooked Acres.

Switch plate I got for Christmas, now hanging in my bedroom. It bears more than a passing resemblance to Miz Poo.

“WHAT is all this white stuff on the ground?!”

Ninja Squirrel.

“Hi, Lady, hi. You has snack for me? Snack? Snack?”

“Snack?”

“Snaaaaaaaaaaack!”

“Snack over there?”

“Snack? Snack? Snack?”

“Snack over there? No snack over there. Snack?”

George, no dummy, is staring at the pocket from whence all snacks come.

“Why you keep telling us to go frolic in snow? Not “frolic” – SNACK. Snack?”

Having finally gotten their snacks, George and Gracie head off to their eatin’ place under the big tree.

I should have made them Christmas cookies, but they seemed to like the holiday rawhide twists I bought at Target just fine.

Those dogs, despite my many entreaties to “Go frolic in the snow! Frolic Georgie! Frolic Gracie!” just refused to frolic. They had no interest in anything but the snacks I had in my pocket. Brats.

Obviously “Frolic!” is a command I need to teach them.

“HEYYYYY MACARENA!”
(Our little dancer is Bobby Brady.)

Jake, sleeping in the warmest spot in the house. I have no idea why this corner of the kitchen is so warm, but it’s noticeably warmer there than anywhere else. Either Jake or Rhyme is always hanging out over there.

Are there kitty hairs in the canned goods? LOL. This posting actually made me laugh outloud at work. Was that Cindy on your lap? Love George and Gracie! Got my card and sent a card. I knew it was Loony Jake and would have totally gotten “a loony New Year” – tell Fred that! 🙂

NO kitty hairs in the canned goods! I always kick the cats off the counter and scrub them down before I start canning. 🙂

That’s Bobby Brady in my lap. He and Cindy love to lay on their backs in my lap and get a good belly rub. 🙂

        LOL….
My least furry cat sheds like mad! I vacuum and vacuum…even use that Pledge fur-picker-upper thingy. They are sooooo fine they just float in the air. Oh, and if you are wearing anything black…he knows…runs over and flingys himself all over you …in the name of love, of course!

I like to pretend that as long as I don’t SEE the fur floating through the air, it’s not there. And I can’t remember the last time I wore anything black. I gave up on black. 🙂

Oh, their days are always filled with snacks – they always know there are snacks on the way when they see me coming. That was Bobby doing the macarena. 🙂

I would be totally comfortable visiting a house where kitties are allowed to sleep on the counters! One of my favorite sayings – no meal is complete without some cat hair!

I loved that card, I was pretty sure that was Jake. Those blue boys are awesome!

George and Gracie are just beautiful. As are the kitties, of course, but that’s a given.

I love my card and would have appreciated the ‘loony new year’ because I wasn’t sure it was Jake! Love the intro photos – especially the floofing ones – and suspect that corner is warm because the chimney to the furnace/boiler is behind that wall. My kitchen has shelves on the wall next to the chimney and I have to keep two shelves empty in the winter for my two cats – well, empty except for cat beds!

Thanks again for your fostering and blogging and best wishes for a very happy new year!

    So many cute critters!!!

So, where is the bed for that corner of the kichen? Making those babies sleep on that hard counter…..;)

Rhonda, shhhhh, I’m resisting putting a bed there! 🙂

When I got my card I said “Loony Jake!” and my husband said “What did you call me?”
    Hehhehehehehe

Robyn, thank you for the card. I have not yet been organized enough to send out my holiday cards, but there’s one labeled for you. I’m thinking maybe April at this rate, but they will go out. Easter’s a holiday, right? (Grandma still hasn’t got hers yet either, so you’re in good company.)

I have the card magneted to the fridge, and when I catch sight of that goofy little face I find myself saying “Jakey Jakey eggs and bakey”. Out loud. >_< Please let Jake know that even a picture of him has the power to lobotomize with cute.
