When I bought this little basket at Target, I didn’t really think that the ‘Mater kittens would be interested in climbing in it. But they were, clearly. And it’s easy to get them interested – I just toss a toy in the basket, and someone goes in after it, then hangs out in there.

I should add that I actually bought three of those little baskets, just ’cause. But they tend to all want whichever basket has a kitten in it already.

“He’s in my basket! I’m tryin’ to make him leave!”

Resting from the wrestling.

::chomp::

“This is oddly comfy.”

“It’s like they don’t know this huge basket’s over here with plenty of room in it.”

“More room for me and my toys!”

Kennebec, checking out an empty food bowl.

Bath time for Fianna.

Such a pretty girl.

“Hey, this rug is comfy.”

Stompers is keeping an eye on Kennebec.

Kennebec decided to take down the whippersnapper.

And then Kennebec took off, leaving Stompers to wonder “Wha’ happen?” (If you look closely, you can see how Stompers’ eye color is changing.)

“I didn’t kick that little brat’s butt. I would never!”

And a Stompers video for you. He refused to talk to me much, but he sure is CUTE.

I’m leaving here in a bit to take the ‘Mater kittens and Stompers for their neutering. Fingers crossed that it all goes well (I expect it will go just fine), and tonight they’ll be racing around like nothing ever happened.

Jake in the bowl scratcher that had to be tossed because someone vomited all over it. But worry not: there’s a replacement on the way from Amazon as I type. That bowl scratcher is so popular that I had no choice but to replace it! (The official name of it is “Petstages Snuggle Scratch and Rest.” I’m imagining a cat who has so vigorously sharpened his claws on the thing that he has to curl up and take a rest. Which, actually, is pretty close to how it usually goes!)

  1. The whole basket thing made me smile – especially the β€œThis is oddly comfy.”
Little Stomps is the cutest! Love the belly (and you trying to get him to talk)!
Jake’s coloring is just super pretty!

    • I was looking at pictures of Stompers recently, trying to figure just exactly what it was that made him so uniquely cute, and I think the little snub nose is definitely part of it. And yes, that belleh is deadly cute.

  2. I’m still trying to tell the two orange ‘Maters apart with little success, so I clicked on the “in residence” photos to see if I could figure out who’s who in that first photo and I think someone — the fabulously named Dingwall Scotty — is missing a close-up on the ‘Maters page! I’m assuming this is just because he’s so adorable with those little white toes and the white chest hair that there would be melted puddles of “aw” around the internet if we were to get up close and personal with him.

Stompers is pretty adorable too. What am I saying? They’re all adorable. Good luck with the neutering today!

    • It’s more likely that I am scattered and disorganized! How very rude of me – I’ll fix the situation this evening!

  3. You realize Kennebec’s going to be asking for keys to the car on weekends pretty soon.

Who is that with him in the basket? Is that Wellington topping? Cute.

  4. Oh my goodness, the stretched orange kitten face in the 3rd and 4th photos is amazing.

Good luck to Stompers and the MATer boys today. No, I’m not having a capitalization problem… Norman is obsessed with the caps lock key and I figure he must be trying to send you a message. Now to figure out what “MAT” means to him πŸ˜‰

    • Are you kidding me? It stands for Meat And Toys – or Meat and Tummy Rubs, if you like.

  5. Love the cuteness today! The voiceover for Stompers video should be “Waht? What do you want lady? Oh all right, I’ll come play with you a bit and THEN take a nap.”

    • Who else would love it if Robyn and Fred did voice overs in the cats voices?!

In other news… Robyn! You were on fire today! The basket series was a home run. πŸ™‚

  6. The first photos in the basket are wonderful. I’m laughing too!
I’m always happy to come here on your blog. Always!

  7. There is something about cardboard scratchers that makes cats want to sleep on them. Only one of my cats uses the cardboard scratchers, but both of them like to sleep on them. One has curves like a fish and the other one is an ESS.

We hope the vet visit goes well for the cuties!

  8. Boy, I am really going to miss Stompers. Maybe his new owner could start a Stompers Blog and post pictures everyday.

  9. Robyn, is Stompers extra special, or am I just super in love with him? I’ve never wanted you to cave and PR a kitten again. Good luck in your new home after today, little buddy! Kiss him a bunch for me will ya?

  10. so the key to basket cuteness overload is a SMALLER basket.. who knew! I’ll have to give that a try.

And I watched the video, and the ad came up. Usually I close those but I thought I’d let it run it’s course to make you another half penny, well it went away just as Stompers went after his toe, and it looked like he made the ad go away, it was really quite funny!

  11. Basket cuties! Can’t stand it!
Good luck on the surgeries little ones!
I agree, Stompers will need his own blog when he gets to his new home! Please let his new people know that it’s a requirement, not a suggestion! πŸ™‚
