Crumpet is all “She’s right behind me, isn’t she?”

Crouton is SUCH a little poser.

Pumpernickel shows off his teef.

Pumpernickel learned Crumpet’s back-foot-blocker move and is putting it to good use.

Something startled Babka, and she floofed her tail a bit.

Charlie was hanging out in my room, so I grabbed the two nearest kittens from the foster room (Ciabatta and Babka) and took them into my room and put them on the bed. Babka jumped to the floor and was sniffing around, but Ciabatta walked all over the bed, sniffing the pillows and the comforter, and walked RIGHT BY Charlie, and didn’t even notice him. Finally he DID notice him, and he froze in disbelief.

Charlie was completely unbothered, but Ciabatta COULD NOT BELIEVE that there existed an Uncle Charlie.

Later, Fred came upstairs to tell me something, and Charlie followed him up. So Fred went into the kitten room and grabbed the closest kitten (Pumpernickel) and put him down in the hall. Oh, Pumpernickel was so excited – an adventure! He walked around and sniffed the floor and the doorway and Fred’s feet. Charlie sniffed him, and Pumpernickel head-bumped him but also didn’t look at him. I can only guess that there were so many other things to look at and sniff that he just assumed whoever was sniffing him was his mother or a sibling.

And then he LOOKED at Uncle Charlie.

“WHAT. IS. THAT.”

He could NOT understand what was happening! (Finally, I put him back in the foster room where he probably told his siblings all about it.)

(In both cases, OBVIOUSLY I should have been making videos, but I was so caught up in watching them that I didn’t even think about it. Next time!)

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) this weekend.

Crumpet the mighty, mighty huntress.

Here I am YET AGAIN trying to get Pumpernickel to confess that he’s Da BAYbee (he refuses, but I shall persevere), and where is Ciabatta? Having a snooze under the blanket on the couch, of course.

Lunch is served! Clockwise from Crumpet: Crouton, Pita, Babka, Ciabatta & Pumpernickel.

It’s a Crumpet-Crouton pie! (Note please that Crumpet’s got her back foot ready for action if Crouton tries to go for the milk bar.)

Good night innernets. (Pumpernickel)

A little pre-breakfast snack at the milk bar. (From left: Pita, Ciabatta, Pumpernickel & Babka. Crouton was off doing Crouton things.)

I put the phone on “selfie” mode and started recording to see what Babka would do. She could NOT figure out how her beloved ceiling fan was in my phone, and she was fascinated (she also managed to pause the video at one point. Smart girl!)

If you’re interested in seeing Pumpernickel and Crouton (who look a LOT alike) side by side, here they are. That’s Pumpernickel top and Crouton bottom. He’s stripier than she is – you can’t tell from this picture, but she’s got spots rather than stripes. (I will try to get a better pic… one of these days.)

I’ve got a lap full of Pita.

Good night innernets. (Ciabatta)

Pita has such a guilty little face. “Who, me? Nothin’!”

Good morning from the kitten room, where Mama has her beloved catnip green bean, and the kittens are momentarily interested, but not nearly as impressed as they should be.

I’m pretty sure the milk bar got up and walked away right before I walked into the room.

“All your toys are belong to me.” (Ciabatta)

Good night innernets. (We have a lights-on, no-one-home situation going on here with Pita.)
