I have an update, with pictures!

Alton said: This past weekend we went down to Auburn to visit Khaleesi (the Daughter was there, too), and I took some pictures of her in her native habitat.


She was like, “For months no one takes my picture. You’re here for less than 5 minutes and I have a camera in my face.”


When Khaleesi went back to Auburn she had a bunch of toys, including several mice. When we got there she only had this one. It was time for the weekly furniture moving to find the ones she had lost under stuff.

On Sunday morning she was hanging out in her cat tree (made with 100% real tree) that we picked up for her at the cat show. Mostly she was waiting for us to open the curtains so she could keep an eye on the tree outside.


“You could open the curtain instead of using that annoying flash… You know, now.”

One of the things that I think Khaleesi likes the best is that there are lots of windows with windowsills. This one is at the opposite end of the apartment. Apparently all the activity resulted in a sleepy Khaleesi.

A few minutes later Khaleesi was curled up asleep and it was time for us to go.

Ralph is a licker. Perhaps I’ve mentioned this a few hundred times?

Nevermind that there are bowls of food behind her, she is INTRIGUED by this big container of food and is trying to figure out how to break in.

On Friday, I opened the door to the foster room to let them have the run of the upstairs. I think I opened the door around 11, and they raced back and forth without stopping until I put them in their room at 8. Then they all ate, used the litter boxes, and conked out for the night. So far, things are going great. They’ve all spent time hanging out at the bottom of the stairs, and they already know the sound of the screen door opening, and come running to see who’s coming. They like to watch the permanent residents go by – so far, Kara’s the only one who has hissed at them. We’ll give it another week or so, and then start letting them have access to the rest of the house.

Fred went upstairs to sit in the recliner in the corner of his room and read, and emailed me to let me know that three of the kittens were curled up in his lap. When I asked which kittens were keeping him company, he replied “Orange, Ralph, and white-feet girl.” (“Orange” being PW, of course, and “white-feet girl” being Von. Hey, I’m kind of impressed that he knows Ralph’s name!)

They’ll be going for their spaying and neutering this week – except for Catelyn, who has already been spayed – which is another step toward them being old enough to leave me. Wahhh!

  2. Can see the ‘bottom of stairs’ pic just fine – on my blackberry. They all look so sweet and innocent – just WAITING to be cut loose! 🙂

  6. hahaha, seeing beautiful big-eyed Khaleesi first thing in the morning was such a nice surprise. I’m so happy we get updates.

    Ralph’s fur seems to be smoothing out but TJ is still as kitten-floofy as ever… I like it, though, it suits his personality.

    I was so sad about Sungold yesterday I couldn’t comment. It broke my heart and I’m still at a loss for words. 🙁

  9. Thanks, everyone, for letting me know if you can see the picture. I was thinking of doing the Saturday roundup using the Instagram code, but I think I’m going to just continue doing it the way I’ve been doing it. 🙂

  10. I can see the Instagram shot of the kitties behind the screen door 🙂 I’m on an iPad (iOS 8.1) using Chrome and it works fine.

  11. I could not see the picture on my feedly reader page, so I came onto the full site where it is showing perfectly. Feedly was only showing the caption. I am on windows 8.1 using Firefox

  13. Picture on the stairs is good for me. Chrome + Windows 7 on laptop.
    I enjoyed the pics and update on Kahleesi so thank you Alton.
    I was sad to hear about Sungold but glad Stripey is not heartbroken. ((hugs)) to Susan also. I’m sure there IS a club up there for all of the alumni and that they are all talking about “the good times at Mz Robyn’s”.

  15. I can see the picture on desktop PC, with IE 11, but it’s in front of/over the yearly links so I can’t see the first 3 -4 years. It starts at 2008, but I can see the very end of the lines of the previous ones. 🙂

  16. I could not see the photo when using my RSS Feed Reader, but when I went to the web page I could see it fine. (Win7/Chrome version 37.0.2062.124).

    1. What kellyu said. I couldn’t see the picture in my RSS reader on the desktop or on mobile, but here I do (after a second, anyway).

  18. Trader Joe with the fuzz and the eyes is killing me. Anyone know of a way to sneak a kitten in a house and convince a husband that the cat has been there all along, what the heck is wrong with you???
    I want him. That is all.

    Someone should warn Trader Joe about potential PW attacks (you can see him in the closet). And Fred kills me 🙂

  22. I’m using a T-Mobile Android phone and unfortunately I couldn’t see the second photo with Joe Bob, there was just an icon. It led me to Flickr where I got to see his face 🙂
    And, since I’m already commenting, getting an update so made up for the sad news about Sungold…I feel so much for the kitties who don’t get forever

  23. Precious Khaleesi! I so adored reading about her that I had to talk myself down from the idea of heading your way to pick her up. It’s wonderful that she is so happy in her forever home. Thanks, Alton, for the update!

  24. So very sad about Sungold. But so glad he had such a happy life at Crooked Acres, with the rest of the ‘Maters.
