Last night, Khaleesi was unfortunately returned. So she’s back in a cage at Petsmart, waiting for her forever home.

It’s too bad, but hey – at least she got a week-long break from being in a cage, right?

Lisa let Khaleesi out of her cage and opened the cage her kittens were in, hoping there’d be a touching reunion. Ha – there was just a bunch of hissing. I’m not surprised; I doubt Khaleesi remembers the babies, and I also bet that if she DOES remember them in some dim corner of her mind, she wants NOTHING to do with that business ever again.

A couple of days ago, we got out Da Bird and had some fun. To my surprise, Jon Snow even came and joined in!

That’s Jon Snow on the floor, telling Ruth that her form is all wrong.

Ruth didn’t take the criticism well.

Atop (or nearly atop) the cat tree, Stefan woke up and watched the goings-on.

Ember can spring up and grab Da Bird before we even know what’s going on.

And once she’s got it, she doesn’t let go!

::sproing!::

Stefan likes to show those kittens his awesome hunting skillz.

Time for a Jon Snow entertainment break.
Come on, babe
Why don’t we paint the town?
And all that jazz!

“I could totally dance like that. If I wanted to. Which I don’t. But I could!”

Four Dragons (and a little of Jon Snow.)

Tommy comes wandering in to see what’s going on.

Scorch goes off for a nap.

Ember had a piece of grass stuck to her face, and didn’t seem to realize it was there.

Ruth and Norbie have a tussle.

I put together pictures of all the Dragons at 5 days old and now at 3 1/2 months old, just so we can oooh and aaah at how much they’ve grown.

I haven’t updated the sidebar yet, because I didn’t want to tip my hand. One of the Dragons didn’t actually go off to Petsmart. One of the Dragons will be with us for a little while longer. And I know what you’re thinking, but no – we are not adopting one of the Dragons. Because I’m a terrible person, I’m going to torture you and make you wait ’til tomorrow’s post to find out what’s going on. πŸ˜‰

Maxi, on the side porch. She has NO use for all those kittens in the house.

Khaleesi’s boyfriend broke up with her? Boo πŸ™ It will be okay, girlfriend. Have a pint of ice cream to soothe your feelings and then get right back into the game. There’s someone better for you out there.

I’m thinking that Robyn the tease might have another Dragon adoption up her sleeve. Not that she’s going to keep one, but that she’s already picked a family. At least that’s what I’m hoping.

Yep, that’s what I’m thinking too – that a reader (or maybe friend or family member) has made the lurve official, and will be picking up the Dragon soonish. Which means we’ll get UPDATES! Yay!!

Awww…poor Khaleesi…but her forever family will be along soon, I’ll bet.

And I’ll also bet the adoption is by one of us regulars, who just could not resist….ummmm….NORBERT!

Kisses to all the Dragons – what a fabulous Mom and variety pack!

Norbert or Scorch – if I lived local I’d have applied for those two as a pair. (And they look like my Fireball and Thunderbolt – who I did adopt as a pair.) Those little black and whites are irresistable!

Maxi. Takes. NO. $&@%! Lol I love cats; her and Sheriff Mama look like the ones to tip toe around.

I’m guessing you guys kept Norbie, Scorch or Ruth? Embers a tough cookie. She can make it anywhere.

Awww, Khaleesi. I thought her prospective person was really smitten with her? πŸ™ *hugs the pretty kitteh*

Dragons! I bet there is an adoption up somebody’s sleeve, and I’m going to say… uuuuum, Norbert! Because foundling rescued tuxedo sweetie. πŸ™‚

I think he just didn’t quite realize how much attention she’d require. I mean, not that she’s terribly needy, but she does want some one-on-one play time, and I think he works long hours.

I can only hope that these people realized that they couldn’t take care of Khaleesi the way that they should and are letting her go so that the right people can give her home that she deserves.

Poor girl but she’s a survivor, I have high hopes for her still.

Jon’s dance moves crack me up, not the most coordinated kitten.

wow, look at those baby pic’s with their fuzzy chrysanthemum heads. Always maintained that they looked like Chinese dragons, except for Norbert who was clearly designed by ferrari.

      August 21, 2013 at 1:25 pm

This is a pretty good description of what happened, Kar. I think he just didn’t realize how much attention she’d need. Now her REAL forever home can come along. πŸ™‚

I have moments of feeling guilty, especially now that I’m not working from home any more, about how needy my Packer is. My other cats are more “typical” cat-like in that they view me as the food-giver and litter-box cleaner and that’s about all they want from me. Packer, on the other hand, wants to have full-body contact all day, every day.

I lavish as much attention on him as I can – even though that means cutting into my interaction time with the other cats – but it’s never enough for him. I honestly think I could gaze lovingly into his eyes and pet/scratch him for 20 out of 24 hours, and it would STILL not be enough for him.

So I sometimes think, maybe he’d be happier and better off with someone else – maybe an elderly person who was content to just sit with him on his/her lap all day, and sleep with him by his/her side all night. Maybe the other cats would be better off, too – maybe they’d turn out to be more affectionate if he wasn’t such an attention hog.

But then I think, maybe it’s just that he loves ME that much – not that he’d love any ol’ human who’d pet him; maybe he’d be miserable without me, even if I only have a few hours a day here at home now. I’m pretty sure that’s not the case, but it does wonders for my ego.

I know which dragon! I know I know! I ain’t telling either! πŸ™‚ Khaleesi acted like she was almost snorting up the smell of her babies and then she hissed and then they hissed and one of them went POOF and then she proceeded to snort and hiss at the other kittens she could see and smell while hers peered out going “WTF was that? Looks like someone we know. Smells familiar.” I can’t say anything else about the Dragons because I don’t want to give away the mystery.

I, too, am guessing Norbie… who could resist his story, his sleek lines, his beautiful tuxedo??? Although, I was (and am still) hoping that Robyn would find a place at Crooked Acres for him as Stefan’s friend and protΓ©gΓ© … A girl can hope, no? Well, whomever is opening their home and life (lives) to one of the dragons, it’s a very good thing and I’ll just hope for updates down the road – at least until their new addition is in college!

Oh Khaleesi! I know there is something great waiting for you, as only befits the Mother of Dragons!!

One of the Dragons is still around? You are a cruel woman, Robyn!! I have to bet on Norbert, too.

  12. Sherry B. says:
    August 21, 2013 at 10:07 am

Do we want to start a pool betting on which Dragon is still there? πŸ™‚ Cause I’m betting Scorch, since he was the one who “got sickly” when it was time to be neutered. Plus, it’s OBVIOUS he’s Stefan’s little bro. Although she does say they’re not keeping one, so I’m betting on adoption.

  13. Brigitte says:
    August 21, 2013 at 10:56 am

I say Norbert too! I just want to hug him and squeeze him and call him George.

Maxi is a beauty, what a great picture of her. I’m thinking if she and Corbie ever hooked up, and both still had their kitty plumbing, they could have had beautiful kittens… A girl can dream, *sigh*.

Don’t feel too sad for her. She’s safe, and she gets attention every day – now her real forever home can come along, and I bet it will be an amazing one. πŸ™‚

    I feel bad for khaleesi.
I found out first hand that reuniting mommy and kitten doesn’t autpmatically turn into a love fest. my kitty sweetums passed on in May and Luna was lonely. They are the kitties on the radiator shelf pic I shared a while back.
My niece had Luna’s mom and emailed me on my birthday to see if i was interested in taking her. my niece has 6 or 7 cats, 2 dogs, birds, and various reptiles- her boyfriend wants her to have less.
So FRiday night in comes Amy with Nibs aka mommy. a day of hiding from each other, followed by a day of hissing alternating with head butts and now on day 5 they share space willingly but have yet to be snuggle bunnies. it will happen

Ok Robyn, this is not a comment on your post today, but I finally need some help!!!! My 2 cats (Hannah 7 and Murphy 10) are indoor cats. We recently moved into a new townhouse and one of the neighbors has an outside cat. This tom cat is at my window attacking it daily trying to get at Murphy (who is inside yowling and growling his little kitty head off). Murphy is starting to lose fur, weight and vomit multiple time per day due to the stress of trying to protect his window and his sister. This morning when I went to lock my front door, my window screens were laying on the ground because the outside tom had ripped them off my windows trying to get my cats. I bought this stuff: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005VZYCL2/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
hoping it would keep him away with no success. I’m at a loss. I feel bad for my cats and bad for this beat up looking outside cat that I’m half tempted to trap and bring to an awesome no kill shelter (Pet’s without parents in Columbus, OH). Any suggestions out there?

There’s a vet who had problems with a bobcat visiting her house. Here’s a link to some of her suggestions (you may have better luck than her, since she had to avoid things because of her dogs):

Have you tried a motion activated repellent, like a sprinkler or alarm? The idea is to make your home area unattractive to roaming critters. I looked up “motion activated animal repellent” on Google, and there were several options, and not all of them need to be hooked up to a plug or hose.

      1. Robyn says:
        August 21, 2013 at 9:51 pm

This is what I would suggest, a motion activated repellent. I would recommend this one. I bought it to keep the cats off one of the kitchen counters, and it worked a little too well – it scared the crap out of me as much as the cats – so I think that it would keep the tom cat away from your window. Like Janna, I’ve heard of ones that use hoses, too.

I’m going to post your question in Friday’s post, and hopefully there will lots of great suggestions!

    3. Kate says:

I saw an episode of the Cat Whisperer (not the right name but my mind is blank) where indoor cats were acting up because of outdoor critters. He used a motion activated sprinkler to discourage the critters. It seemed like it worked like a charm. Like everyone else I think that might work. (Sorry if that’s what you linked to already, stupid computer is working SLOOOOOOOOOOOWLY and I can’t be bothered to click through.) Good Luck!

I’m glad Khalessi’s adopter brought her back. It’s good that he understood what she needed and was willing to give her up so she could get it. She’s such a sweetie that I’m sure it wasn’t an easy decision.

Ok, I love that show and this is the episode that I keep picturing in my head. Murphy is 10 and has never sprayed a thing in his life and my fear is that this will start to happen. I’m going to re-find that episode because I think they also put gravel down under the windows to discourage the cat from walking and using the bathroom there. The only present I’ve found was a dead bird on my porch, which I’m sure was a true insult to Murphy πŸ™‚ I went to find out who owns the cat last night and they were not home, however, I bumped into the next door neighbor and was told “Petey” the tom has been terrorizing everyone’s cats through the window! Two of the inside cats have even escaped to get to him and were beat up and lost for days! My husband is under strict orders to not let the cats on the back porch until we have come to some sort of resolution.

I know Khaleesi’s forever home is just waiting for her to be available, so this is good news! I’m not really surprised Khaleesi and the kittens didn’t quite recognize each other. I once adopted to grown cats from a friend who passed away but, to make a long story short, they came to me about a year apart. Even though they had lived together for 7 years, they acted like they had never seen each other before!

  22. Kate B. says:

Oh no, I am so sorry about lovely Khaleesi. I hope her real forever family shows up soon, and same for all her babies. Those before and after shots of the Dragons are awesome; hey, I remember the day they were born like it was yesterday!

Wow, Uncle Stefan is so great with the kittens! He really seems to love hanging out with them.

And I just got the Season 1 DVDs of “Game Of Thrones” – so I finally get the names and what everyone is talking about! Hee hee, not surprised Arya is the feisty little one!
