Look who it is!

Do those sweet boys look familiar? They should – it hasn’t been THAT long since they were here with us and you got to see them on a daily basis! That’s Toby (formerly Charming) and Sooty (formerly Jareth) – from the Royals litter – clearly all kinds of stressed out.

Toby wants you to know that life is ROUGH!

I think that, somehow, they’ve gotten even more gorgeous.

Their Mom and Dad report that the boys are doing very well. They race around like the wild things they are, and are a constant source of amusement. Their older brother – Harley – seems to be warming to them. There’s been no actual playing, but a little stalking and some gentle swipes. I really think that one of these days Harley is not going to be able to help himself, and then it’s going to be crazy times.

Isn’t it great to see their sweet faces again?

And look who ELSE it is!

That’s Flynn, formerly known as Kohle. Flynn’s Mama ordered him a couple of Ham-micks, and that picture is what happened as soon as she got them unpacked.

I don’t know… you think he likes his new Ham-mick? I think he hasn’t decided yet… Seriously, so adorable!

Miz Poo, taking a bath in the sun, gains an admirer. Ember sits and watches for a little while.

Slowly, slowly, ever so slowly, she approaches.

Sensing an intruder, Miz Poo pauses. Ember freezes.

Unable to help herself, Ember darts forward for a sniff of Miz Poo’s paw. Miz Poo watches benevolently.

Ember draws back and stares admiringly at Miz Poo for a few seconds before darting off to tell her siblings about her brush with The Fabulous Miz Poo.

Scorch doesn’t actually care whether Sugarbutt wants someone to snuggle with. He just climbs right in and snuggles up.

“I really will!”

(He really did NOT. He eventually got up and stomped away, and Scorch had the bed allll to himself. Which I suspect was his sneaky plan all along!)

“Hodor! No! There’s not enough room in here for both of us!”

“I love the smell of sisal in the morning.”

Beating the “rug” into submission.

I love how Hodor’s in mid-hop over there.

I don’t know what happened to get Jon Snow’s tail all a-floof. Please note that both his back feet are off the floor completely.

Hodor takes a swipe as Jon Snow gains speed.

Maxi keeps an eye on that whippersnapper Stefan. She doesn’t HATE him, but she prefers him to keep his distance. He’s a close talker, though, and it bugs her.

2012: He wants to be HELD, he wants to be PETTED, he wants to make biscuits in the AIR, and he wants it NOW.
2011: She’s a lovah, not a biter.
2010: No entry.
2009: No entry.
2008: I love this goofy little cat.
2007: No entry.
2006: No entry.
2005: Luckily his Zapping Collar o’ Doom is water resistant.

  1. Prince Charming.. er uh Toby.. looks so regal in his collar and cuffs. He has made my day (whether he knows it or not!) Who am I kidding!? Sooty and Flynn and Ember and Miz Poo and Sugie and The Dragons and The Starks and pretty Miss Maxi have all made my day! It could only have been better with a pic of my 2nd favorite tuxie (after Charming/Toby) NORBIE!!! I miss him! You’ve said previously he’s hard to capture on camera. Perhaps he’s with Stefan making plans to become his ‘permanent’ BFF???? (I think he’d be a very nice addition to Crooked Acres!) 🙂

    • At this point, Fred has expressed interest in keeping each of the Dragons at various times. 🙂

I’m making it a point, this weekend, to get a bunch of decent pictures of Norbie. He’s been very much underrepresented, I know!

  2. I know, Maxi, close talkers are the WORST! They don’t take body language cues at all! These kittens are so gorgeous. I really want another litter!

  3. Here’s a question for you, Robyn, (and perhaps other fosterers): Is it considered bad form to work with more than one shelter/agency as a fosterer? The agency I currently foster for often has me fostering a single, well-mannered, adult cat for several months at a time. We have no other cats or indeed other animals to care for, and in many of these cases could easily take on kittens at the same time. (Or, for example, there’s a shelter that needs fosterers only for a few weeks at a time that could easily fit between fosters from the other agency.) Is it “cheating” on one or the other?

    • My opinion: The more you can help, the better. And to avoid “hurt feelings”, just don’t tell them! Ha!

    • I’ve done it. I didn’t tell the shelter I generally work with simply because I didn’t feel the need.

and it is not cheating, it is doing the most good.. if there is need, and you want to, fill it, who cares where the need is..

      • I agree with Connie – you’re doing the most good, so I say go ahead and do it. I don’t think it’s considered cheating. I wouldn’t particularly feel compelled to tell the shelter you usually work with, but I also wouldn’t go out of my way to hide the fact, either.

What it comes down to is that you’ve got the room and the desire to help; I’d hope any shelter would appreciate that! 🙂

  4. It’s so good to see the former fosters in their new home–these two are looking SO grownup and healthy, gorgeous cats!!
Those kittens just do NOT have enough toys at all…

    • I think they’re great names – they fit them very well, and they have special meaning.

And “Toby! Sooty!” rolls off the tongue much easier. 🙂

  5. Just checked and saw that Buttercup hasn’t been adopted yet. Who wouldn’t want a lady in a tux? Those boys look quite handsome as near-grownups!

    • I know, isn’t it crazy? I imagine that she and Leia are getting antsy for their forever home(s) to come along!

  6. SO wonderful to see Kohle and Charming and Jareth. They are gorgeous! I love seeing your foster grads, Robyn.

After seeing how much Sugarbutt loved his ham-mick these last few years, I thought it would be fun to order a couple for my new kitten, DaisyBug. OH YES, she loves them so… She sleeps and plays on them every day. I highly recommend them. The Forty Paws web design updated just recently and it’s really spiffy… and my little DaisyBug is there posing on her new ham-mick! 🙂 Here is the updated address:

Thanks to the wonderful advice from you and your readers regarding adopting kittens in pairs, I adopted a little brother for her to grow up with. So now I have a sweet little six month old gal who was lovingly bottle fed by her wonderful foster Mom at the local humane society and a spunky, lovey little five month old guy who was also lovingly raised by his foster Mom at a local no-kill animal shelter. You foster moms are THE best! Thank you for generously giving your time & love to these furry little kittens and their kitten Mamas.

  7. I too love Jon snow’s little stripey tail. And I can’t decide: which litter is cuter – dragons or Starks??? So hard to choose!!!!

Also, how did charming and jareth grow so much so quickly? They seem so big. Have you checked on leia and buttercup at petsmart? I’m worried about them – how can no one have seen their beauty???????

  8. Proof from ex-fosters that life beyond Crooked Acres can be equally cushy — yay, and fingers crossed for those guys and gals inexplicably still at Petsmart. The Dragons and Starks have reached a pitch of perfect cuteness, but for me today’s star is Scorch’s arm: the one casually laid across long-suffering Suggie. Well played, young sir!

  9. I just love how Scorch is always in pictures with the big kid orange/buff cats. He wants to be a big kid too!
