The Reacher creature.

Reacher, sneaking in the cat door before I spot him and yell at him.

He has such gorgeous eyes. All my Bookworms do.

Oh, how Marty loves the Skinneeez teaser.

These kittens have the prettiest markings.

I love the two light brown stripes down Hutch’s back.

Hutch, skeptical.

I don’t know what Starsky’s looking at, but it appears to be pretty amazing.

Starsky. Who does little Starsky remind me of? He reminds me SO MUCH of Bolitar, not only in looks, but also in temperament.

Bolitar, back in March:

Anyway, here’s the story behind Starsky and Hutch. I got a call from the shelter manager Sunday evening. Another Challenger’s House foster mom had gotten these two little kittens from a friend who found them. They’d been tossed out of a car along with a third kitten. The third kitten was in such bad shape and hurt so badly that there was nothing that could be done for it, and it had to be euthanized.

Since all my little guys are going to Petsmart on Friday, I knew I’d have the room, so I was more than willing to take them.

These two were LOADED with fleas when I got them, and so the first night we bedded them down in a big carrier in the blue coop with a heating pad.

On a side note, I have been REALLY lucky as far as fleas go. The only time I ever spotted fleas on fosters is when we got the Cookies last Fall, and they only had a few fleas. When I say these two were loaded with fleas, I’m not kidding. They had fleas crawling in their eyes. It was awful.

By mid-day Monday, the fleas were eradicated, and I bathed them and set them up in a cage in the guest bedroom.

They’re doing well and are pretty healthy. They’re a little bony, but they’re both eating well and putting on the ounces. They’ve been using the litter box I put in their cage, Starsky has been eating a little of the bowl of Babycat kibble I left in their cage, and last night Hutch lapped some formula off a plate.

They’re sweet and snuggly and friendly. They’re at that age I love so much, where they’re just figuring out how to play with toys and how to play-fight with each other, where everything is AMAZING, and their favorite thing to do is climb into my lap, purring and kneading.

VERY MUCH do Kara, Sugarbutt and Tommy disapprove when we have the nerve to leave the back yard. Look at the judgmental faces on those three!

  1. Oh how awful for Starsky and Hutch and their sibling.. that is just so so so so so so sad! I’m just glad they’re safe and happy now with you. Poor things!

Awww your Bookworms are and always will be so so so adorable!! What cuties!!! Someone is sure to fall in love with them all!! Good luck Bookworms and MMMs and Dodger!

Awww look at Kara, Sugarbutt and Tommy! LOL!!!!

    Take care

  2. Oh poor Starsky and Hutch, and their poor sib – we are so glad that they were found and that at least the two will be ok – the jerks who did that to them, well, they deserve the same thing at least.

And oh, they are all such cuties – the Bookworms do have gorgeous eyes – I love the bi-color thing going on! We hope they all find forever homes soon.

And yeah, Kara, Sugarbutt and Tommy really don’t look too happy there!

  3. I so so hate people who would do anything like that. It’s mind-boggling. I hate hearing stories like this, but yet I’m glad you’re telling us, because people need to know.

I also love that stage of kittenhood–their eyes are always saucers, because everything they see is AMAZING!

  4. If you can’t take care of a kitten then take it to the humane society pound. Bad enough that you do a crappy home job of disposing of it but to doit so BADLY…

They could’ve all died in agony at a very slow pace. Torture basically. And the poor mama wherever she is!

  5. That Reacher creature is so beautiful to look at – what a handsome boy! and cheeky, don’t get you started, right? your crime fighters are soo cute! just think, their little sibling could have been ‘huggy bear’! oh, am i showing my age there? Martin is a crack up! Could he be any more bendy? are you sure he’s a real cat? Why don’t the disapproving ones just climb the fence and follow you? Shhh – did i say that out aloud? and Good luck to all the kids at Petsmart, may you all find furever homes super fast!

  7. Ah, boys, you should have eyes wide open in amazement! You just won the lottery… you got Robyn and Fred!

I know you just went through a really scary awful time and your sib is in our prayers. I’m glad you are still trusting. Most beans are really quite nice. I feel so sad that you ever had to meet some that weren’t. We’ll pray for them, too… that they come to understand that kindness is as good for them as it is for anyone to whom the show it.
