As a foster mom to kittens, the hardest part of taking them to the pet store is knowing that once they’re adopted, you very well might never hear another word about them again. They go home with their new parents, they settle in, they’re (hopefully) happy, and you are but a dim memory to them.

The awesome thing is when their new parents send an email and a picture or two to the shelter to let us know how they’re doing.

Back at the beginning of June the people who adopted Caleb (who was brother to Beulah; we also called him “Troubles” because he was always into everything!) emailed the shelter to let us know that he’s fitting in quite well in his new home.

They said, in part:

His name here is JOHN. He is so loving and so playful. He is such a joy in the mornings as he greets us. He is smart and curious and a quick learner. JOHN is so cuddly – such a big baby! It is so wonderful to have a warm fuzzy around the house again! Let your foster family know that they did a wonderful job preparing him for our family! We think he’s just purr-fect for us!

That is one happy little cat!

Just on a side note, I won’t be getting new fosters ’til the end of the month. I’ve got a trip planned for next weekend, and when I get back, hopefully there’ll be new fosters in need of a place to stay (and be loved!). You know when I’ve got new ones, there’ll be tons of pictures!

2008: Sisterly love.
2007: And then the guy sat down to talk to us, and I turned into a pouty teenage brat.
2006: No entry.
2005: No entry.

  1. What a sweet picture. Half round belly shot is better than none. I was to rub and kiss his big belly.

  2. Oh – that is one happy boy! So nice to hear that he’s settled in and everyone is so happy!

  3. It’s amazing what a gift it is to get updates and photos…we rarely get them either, but it totally makes our day!

  4. Awww! What a great update and priceless picture! I saw Dwight and Creed got adopted this weekend. Phyllis will be gone soon. I sure wish poor little Bessie would capture someone’s attention. And all the others, too, that get overlooked.

  5. What a great send off for you! Hearing from your youngun is a well socialized, happy member of a lovin’ household has got to make your day! Hope you’re having a great trip & we’ll see you soon! 🙂
