I love this picture so so so much. The look on his face cracks me up so much that I’ve probably looked at it 100 times since I took it. Expect to see it again in the future, probably a lot. (That’s Sungold, by the way.)

I completely forgot to mention how Thanksgiving went. We had a small gathering here, Fred’s mother and stepfather and his sister and her husband. The bad thing about hosting Thanksgiving here: the concern that the house smells like dirty litterbox (this is an ongoing concern of mine. I suspect a LOT of you know it well.), and the frantic cleaning in the days leading up to Thanksgiving day. The good thing about hosting Thanksgiving here: when everyone leaves, THEY have to drive for 20 – 40 minutes to get home and take a nap. WE only have to shuffle to the front room and fall onto the couch. And the house is clean so we can be total slackers for the rest of the day without guilt.
When we thought we would still have the Pickles here, it was our plan to put the Pickles and the Weeds in the upstairs foster room until after we’d eaten. With the Pickles gone and the ‘Maters and Kohle upstairs, it was relatively calm, so we let the Weeds stay out until we sat down to eat, whereupon we put them in the guest bedroom while we ate.
Purslane is a total people kitten. She’s never met a stranger, she loves all people, she didn’t hesitate for one single second to climb into the nearest lap and curl up. Dandelion was okay with people, if someone picked her up she was fine with it and purred and looked all cute, but she didn’t go looking for attention. Thistle, to my utter surprise, ran and hid at the first sign of strangers. Fred’s sister was able to finally coax her out from behind the couch, and Thistle put up with being held and snuggled, but she looked very skeptical about the whole thing. I never would have guessed that she’d be the scaredy-cat of the three, she’s generally pretty fearless.
The funny thing is that Fred’s sister thought Thistle was awesome because she was “so tiny.” She insisted that Thistle was half the size of Dandelion. That’s half the reason I weighed the Weeds Thursday night – and found that they’re all within half an ounce of each other. I guess black really IS slimming!

They love this cat tree so very much.

All they want to do lately is curl up on the table and snooze the day away. That’s kind of all I want to do, too! That’s Newt at the far end, Elwood and Corbie in the middle, and Sugarbutt at the close end.
