Esmeralda’s date of birth (guesstimated) – March 17, 2024.
Esmeralda showed up on our property one day in September 2025. She was very thin, very hungry, and very friendly. We fed her, and she showed up for a few days, and then disappeared for a few days. We thought she might have a home (a lot of our neighbors have inside/outside cats that we see on and around our property, so figured a neighbor had gotten a new cat.) And then she showed up again, and stayed.
So we brought her inside.
In the space of a week, she gained nearly a pound, proved that she’s just as sweet and mild-mannered as we thought, and settled in to the good life (soft beds and lots of food).
She was aged (by Michelle, who I foster under) as being about 18 months old. We were surprised that an 18 month old female cat managed to show up without kittens and without any visible signs of pregnancy. We scheduled her for her spay surgery, and as it turned out, she’d already been spayed. That explains that!
She’s been vaccinated, microchipped, and as of now (it’s September 25th) she’s adoption pending! She’ll be with us for a couple more weeks, and then she’ll go home.
