3/8/10 – More Odds ‘n Ends

Hi hi! Long time no post, huh? Still no more fosters (I have two weeks and a few more days before I’m cleared by the doctor to get back to life-as-usual and I am COUNTING THE DAYS, believe me!), and the house is awfully quiet without fosters running around.

It’s funny to say that a house with 11 cats could possibly be “quiet”, isn’t it? But it’s true!

But anyway, I have some news about Hoyt, but I want to wait to post about that until I have pictures to share, so it will be a few days before you get to hear about that story (trust me, it’s a happy ending!).

Do you know about Freekibble and Freekibblekat? Every day, you can go to those sites, answer trivia questions, and whether you’re right or not, 10 pieces of kibble is donated to animal shelters (Freekibble is dog-related, Freekibblekat is cat-related).

No surprise, I get the answers right at Freekibblekat more often than I do at Freekibble, but I still visit both sites first thing every morning!

I’m certain that most of you know about The Animal Rescue site, but just in case anyone out there doesn’t – go check it out! You can click on the big purple rectangle, and the value of .6 bowls of food is donated to rescued animals.

(There are other great parts to that site – you can click on the tabs at the top of the page to help donate free mammograms, child health care, and other worthy causes.)

Seriously – it takes maybe two minutes each morning to click around to those sites, and it’s even kind of fun. Great way to start off your morning!

If there are similar sites out there that you know about that I haven’t listed, feel free to share in the comments!

Do you remember that way back when we got Kara, it was as a foster, and she was hugely pregnant, and barely 24 hours after we got her, she gave birth to four kittens?

Well, two of those kittens were adopted by a reader, and she sent me the cutest pictures of them last week, so I have to share!

This is what Dora (then named Inara) looked like way back then:

and here she is now:

It was a cold day, and Dora’s no dummy – she knows how to stay warm!

This is what Nate (then named River) looked like when he was wee:

and here he is now:

If he wasn’t such a shy boy, I’m pretty sure he’d be a supermodel. Or a movie star!

I love seeing pictures of my former fosters!

But wait! We’re not done!

Remember Ouiser, the sweet little gray and white Magnolia? Sure you do, it hasn’t been that long!

Here’s one of the pictures I took of her when she was here:

Well, we got a couple of pictures of her from her new home!

They’ve renamed her Gracie (which is a name I just love for cats – and dogs, obviously!), and they report that she’s very loving and affectionate. They have an older dog and there were no problems with the two adjusting to each other. She’s apparently quite the little lapcat, which does not surprise me at ALL.

If you’re reading this, and you adopted one of my former fosters, don’t be stingy – share the picture love and let us know how your baby is doing! :)

2/23/10 – Hoyt, Dog in need, sweet Myron, Drum & Clairee!

Thanks for all your comments regarding Hoyt. Someone is seriously interested in adopting him, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that that works out. Y’all keep your fingers crossed, too, and I’ll be sure to let y’all know more when there’s more to know. :)

Lena posted in her blog that her son – who lives in Jacksonville, Florida – found this poor, malnourished pit bull. Look at the pictures of that poor dog, is he not the most pitiful thing?

Wes is pretty sure that his homeowner’s policy won’t allow him to keep a pit bull, so he needs help – if you’re in the Jacksonville area and you’re willing to foster or adopt this sweet boy or know someone who will, contact Wes (email address is toward the bottom of this page).

Has everyone read about little Myron, Sue’s sweet foster boy?

Bad news: Myron tested positive for Feline Leukemia.

Good news: Sue found a great shelter with a small Feline Leukemia ward, willing to take him!

I love Myron because he reminds me more than a little of my sweet Mikey (who is now Aaron & Marian’s beloved Topher). I think it is absolutely awesome that there was a facility willing to take sweet Myron.

You can make a donation to Purrfect Pals here.

(And keep your fingers crossed that the lottery ticket we bought yesterday wins. How amazing would it be to have a small facility devoted to taking care of special needs cats? I’d love to be able to do that!)

Hey, look who we’ve got pictures of!

That’s sweet Clairee.

And Drum and Clairee!

They are reportedly very happy in their new home, and their new parents adore them and are glad they adopted both of them. I mean, seriously – have you ever seen such happy monkeys?
